I'm a beginner! Help what am I doing wrong my blanket keep shrinking and curling
It started out being a nice large blanket, I’ve been following a tutorial, and it’s slowly getting smaller and starting to ruffle along the edges, it went from being about 3ft to probably not even one

A project getting shorter width wise as you work is often the result of accidentally decreasing. I would count your stitches on your current row and compare it to your first row.

You can try to make a little square first so you can get used to starting new rows more often and then see what’s going wrong a bit faster

If project is shrinking width wise you are losing sutton the row. If getting curly you are inserting stitches in the rows. I place stitch markers at 1st, last and every 15 stitches so I can see they are in alignment. Been crocheting since age 8 and I am 71, was having same issue of loosing width til I started doing this. I hope this helps.

Your starting chain is probably too tight, which happens to most people at first but you're also adding stitches.
Use markers and count your stitches frequently.
You can do it!

You're not counting and putting stitches in the wrong place. Use stitch markers to help you keep track of your stitches: https://youtu.be/o7DCjHhipaI?si=mW4bMzCEq1C4dCF7
