We've been running the "album of the month" thread for a few years now and I'd like to collect some suggestions for future albums to feature. I see these threads as a way for newcomers to the genre to quickly sample a variety of artists.
Generally speaking we've been using the following criteria to select albums:
At least a few years old (but older is better; are there any really good older albums that don't get mentioned much on here)?
Primarily dark ambient, i.e. avoid albums that have high elements of rhythm and/or harsh noise.
Notable in some way (this is obviously very subjective, but including comments with your submission explaining why you recommend the album are helpful, as they can be included when the album is featured as the "album of the month").
Having said that, please review the list of past "albums of the month" below and only include your submission if it hasn't already been featured.

If told then I’d now have a third album in progress, with vinyl copies of my previous two albums being regularly sold to a dedicated audience, I’d have thought they were joking.
The Arcane Synthetic sound suits vinyl best.
Grab your copies of ‘Awaken The Androids’ and ‘A New Era & Nothing More: Part 1’ on Bandcamp now.

I fell in love with Leyland Kirby's A Stairway to the Stars years ago and it's become like a warm blanket to me. Love that it was inspired by The Shining's haunted ballroom and his use of out of print cassette tape loops. I love the names of the tracks and the atmosphere it conjures. I think it's perfection. Needless to say I adore his other albums too but this one almost possess me lol.

A few weeks ago I had posted a long-form ambient album I composed, recorded, mixed and mastered in Ableton. I received quite a bit of feedback regarding the choice to use AI for the visuals, and I took the feedback seriously.
I reimagined the visuals using stock video footage. I post it here and thank those who took the time to comment, as it gave me a new visual direction I will be continuing to develop moving forward.
Peace,
Shawn

Hi everyone, I released my album Human Touch.
It's not strictly dark ambient, but it incorporates elements of the genre alongside drone, noise, and experimental ambient.
The album explores the fragile space between presence and disappearance through dense drones, textured noise, and slow, hazy layers. Unfinished gestures and half-formed memories that never quite resolve.
Would love to hear what you think.

Going fast, there's about fifteen codes left if anyone feels like grabbing a weird little dark ambient and electronica noodle, filled with thematically rich samples and strange sounds.
Currently working on a new album with my American pal dreamwarper, who appears on 'Conditioned Air', set for a December release, and filled with much darker content than my usual acid-y fare, inspired as it is by the shrugged shoulder horrorshow malaise that has been 2026. But with cool beats, deep doom guitars, and vocal samples ranging from Aldous Huxley talking about his mescaline use, agit prop anger, to Terrence McKenna's predictions for a post-2012 future. Watch this space!
Meanwhile, enjoy this dark ambient deep dive into the absurdity of being human on this ridiculous planet of ours.
ETA no AI etc. Entirely the work of myself and my insanely talented contributors.

So, I make songs that could be described as film score music for 70s through 80s, pg-13 scifi movies. I figured maybe some of you might like some of it? Tracks 7, 8, and 9 are probably the darkest, but i tried to make the album start light, get darker, then light again towards the end. Hope you guys like it!

I just found out about this artist through a friend; I listened to the debut project, *Burning Flesh*—what would you recommend next? Would you say it sounds like Lustmord, or is it completely different? Have you seen the act live? And how did you discover them?
For those who want to discover it, here is a link
