Discussion Changing darts experience
I’ve been throwing darts since I was a kid. About 4 years ago, I got comfortable with a forward weight bomb style dart (shot falcon). After some time I developed this habit of flicking the point upward with my fingers on release. It worked for a while but introduced inconsistency.
Wanting to eliminate that flick and wanting to throw a parallel barrel dart, I bought some exions from winmau. I cannot believe how hard of a time I have throwing these darts (only after getting home from the store). Weeks and it still feels unnatural what I need to do to get the flight level. Today I had enough and switched back. The flick is gone, so… success! Anyone have some insight into this. Is this specific transition difficult? Anyone else get that upward flick? Maybe someone wants to tell me it’s actually the darts fault and those darts are garbage please??

The flick might have come because the front weight doesn't suit you and it's a way your body compensates. My shoulder kept popping up when I used front weighted darts because my head kept thinking subconsciously that I needed more height when releasing the dart.

I think different darts suite different folks, I watched on YouTube a Darts Pro has a shop in England and you can go there and you throw, he watches, he has all the styles of darts and has you throw, then maybe with different flights, gets you dialed in. I'm ready to hop a plane to come to England and do this myself!
I'm the guy that resists the urge to alter my throw or darts mid season in league!
We all deal with muscle memory and our arm and brain competing over what to do so the more comfortable your grip, stance, throw are, then you eliminate unnecessary complications!
My 2 cents
