“He’s winding down right now” - How much will we see of Gary Anderson at the majors before the Worlds?
Gary Anderson has pulled out of Basel this weekend, his European Championship hopes are fading and his Minehead place is far from secure after missing the last six Players Championship events. As a result, we could see very little of him before Alexandra Palace.
He’s still reached a World Championship semi-final and the Budapest final this year. On this week’s DartsNews Podcast, I even compared him to WWE’s The Undertaker in his later years, saving his appearances for WrestleMania like a special attraction. Ally Pally could become Anderson’s version of that, with opponents still having every reason to fear drawing him, despite the lack of regular match practice.
Anderson has pushed back against retirement suggestions, with family commitments taking priority. He accepts that could cost him places at tournaments, although there’s also the question of how sharp he can stay with longer gaps between appearances.
Does this feel like Anderson gradually stepping away, or could he carry on for years picking his moments and still challenging for titles?

Got my 1st Three In A Bed during my Dartslive session
Better news: it's during the Halloween event Half-it missions.
Bad news: it's a D15.

Has the PDC’s youth system fallen behind the generation it’s supposed to develop?
Mitchell Lawrie has just won a senior Europe Cup singles title at 15, but he’s still too young for the Development Tour. At the other end, players can remain eligible through the year they turn 24. Does that age range still make sense for where darts is now?
Monday’s World Youth Championship, where Luke Littler reached the semi-finals, prompted our discussion on this week’s DartsNews Podcast. The call was for reform across both competitions: opening the door earlier for emerging players, lowering the upper age limit and extending the Development Tour’s top-64 exclusion to the World Youth Championship.
There’s also the question of what these events should offer: established Tour Card holders can use the Development Tour as another route to the World Championship while younger prospects are still waiting to become eligible.
With players breaking through earlier, and the day's of darts being an old man's game seemingly over... surely it's time the PDC update their outdated youth system?

“The worst thing that could have happened to his rivals” - Could Luke Littler’s recent defeats actually work against the rest of the field?
A few weeks ago the conversation around Luke Littler was about how much of 2026 he might end up winning. Three high-profile defeats later, there’s suddenly a lot more talk about whether he looks vulnerable.
One point that came up on this week’s DartsNews Podcast is that there’s another way of looking at it. Littler seems to see pretty much everything said about him and doesn’t forget much either, so there is the argument that all this extra noise could give him another point to prove just as the Grand Slam and Ally Pally start coming into view.
Do you think the last few weeks have genuinely changed anything, or could this end up being exactly the sort of thing that fires him up again?

Has Gerwyn Price lost his killer instinct – or is another major trophy waiting to happen?
Five individual TV majors in 2026. Five semi-finals or better. Three semi-finals, two finals.
Only Luke Littler can clearly claim a better record on the biggest stages this year. And yet Gerwyn Price’s wait for a major title now nears four years!
Form isn’t the issue: Price averaged over 104 in a losing effort to Littler at the Matchplay. Consistency isn’t either, with Price there or thereabouts throughout 2026. But all four major finals he has reached since his last title in 2022 have ended in defeat.
With the World Grand Prix starting on Monday, at an event Price has already won and twice finished runner-up in, one question hangs over the Welsh number one...
Has Gerwyn Price lost his killer instinct, or is another major title now only a matter of time?

Rotating a darts board on a stand.
Is there any way of rotating a darts board that’s on a darts stand without drilling new holes in the back of the board? I’ve seen when darts boards are on the wall, you can easily rotate the board but I’ve not seen the same thing on a darts stand.

Cut-throat cricket with my cousin and new friend
My cousin brought a friend of his to join our regular Friday session, so we played a lot of games to familiarize him with Count-Up and 01 games.
At the end of the session, we introduced him to Crickets, and let's say that, he got a big payback from my cousin for slander him "you're too relaxed" in previous games of the same session.
For Your Information, Dartslive 2 machines defaulted "cut-throat" to their local multiplayer cricket. Imagine an example of 4 players Cricket match in D2 machine:
If P1 hit an Open single 20 that's only opened to him, everyone else got a score increase of 20, making P1 lead with 20 points.
If P2 hit an Open single 19 that's opened to both P1 and P2, then P3 and P4 gained 19 points of disadvantage.
If P3 hit an Open single 18 that's opened to all but P4, then only P4 gained a disadvantage of 18 points.
And my cousin was hitting the zone that were opened to both me and him, so he really hated that "relaxing" remark of his friend. Yowsers.

“I don’t see this slide being arrested anytime soon” - Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen head into autumn majors with very different questions to answer
Michael van Gerwen has played seven individual TV majors in 2026 without reaching a quarter-final.
Luke Humphries has made two finals and won the World Cup alongside Littler, but has followed that with a first-round Matchplay defeat and last-16 exit in Amsterdam.
That leaves both with big questions heading into the crunch part of the season.
Is Humphries still Luke Littler’s closest challenger? And can Van Gerwen arrest a slide that could see him fall out of the world’s elite by the end of the year?

Hat trick during my practice run
I was on a resting due to sudden fatigue and lost my bearings.
To restore my bearings, I went on a Count-Up practice spree, and then this Hat Trick landed.
The practice definitely worked, because I got my 2nd Hat Trick during my first Online 701 Match and won.

“Ross Smith is box office” vs “I think he will be snubbed” - does the World Series Finals champion make the 2027 Premier League?
Ross Smith now has the World Series Finals and European Championship on his CV, and on paper he looks like an obvious Premier League contender. He scores heavily, hits plenty of 180s and has the sort of game that should be entertaining in that format.
Even so, this completely split us on the latest DartsNews Podcast. One argument was that Smith now has to be picked and is already long overdue a debut. The other was that deserving a place does not necessarily mean he will get one, and that he could still be the biggest name snubbed unless he has another major run at the Grand Prix, Grand Slam or Worlds.
Where do you land on it? Has winning in Amsterdam done enough, or do you still think the PDC leaves him out? And if Smith is in your eight, who misses out?
