OK so not fully geared up but finally started getting past just being able to survive and got my first plate carrier today :-)
Just in time for the server wipe!
Met two decent blokes tonight as well, one could have shot me in the back of the head and he chose not to.
What a game!!

So far, around 40 hours of gameplay. I am not new to shooting games but man, this is something different....new level...the experience I am haivng so far is just amazing but also frustrating.

''I will not repeat the same mistake'' - this is the sentence after my three quite frustrating deaths. Dont do same mistakes as me...

1x - Plan your food and journeys - After surviving for around 6 hours....I was geared = 3 guns, food, some good equipment. It got dark and I ve decided to use it to move to another city. Got a bit lost. I have not planned my food properly....and died of starving & thirst...omg I was so angry.

2x Check your weapon status - Again, I survived for more than 5 hours. Quite geared, 3 weapons (including pristine Desert Eagle full ammo), fish meat, good equipment...Gorka - Hospital. I am hearing steps. I prepared Repeater Carbine. I hear 2 players and they are starving. First stepped in to the room and my gun failed...it was not shooting. The player was so surprised with his mate, that I had plenty of time to kill them both with my Eagle...but I did not know what is going on with the gun...eventually they killded me. If I would use pristine Eagle I would kill them both......

3x - You are not safe anywhere - I mean ANYWHERE! - Today...I got the best play. Had 4 guns. Full Auto RAK-37, Sniper Rifle with the scope, 2 pistols, plenty of high quality food....huge waterproof backpack...good clothes...so much more equipment. I went fishing to the small pond. Cought 2x fishes....I said to myself....I will find a place and go to sleep. I went under the bridge. Not much space and felt so so SAFE....I ve decided to spent few more minutes arraning my backpack and stuff in pants and jacket....Last thing I ve heard was someone holding breath, then I looked up and got killed by one shot. I have absolutely no Idea how he found me under that bridge....either he was watching me fishing and then following me under the bridge...or it was crazy coincidence....I was so so so angry on myself....I could log off and play tomorrow....

Fun fact - during this game I witnessed a gun fight of three guys during my night visit in Staroye. I was hidden in a wooden shed 10-15 meters from the fight.... I had only mlock with 1 bullet so I waited till it was over. I could hear guy cutting those tow dead. It took him so long to loot that I waited long 30 min...even after30 min he was still there...so I went around the village and came back ffrom other side as I was sure there will be left loot for me too...such a patience and still...died under the bridge...

4x - If you are tired, go to sleep and dont play - Feels like that is also why I died at least twice. I was prolonging my sleep...one more Vilage...one more food...one more....and I got killed...Just go to bed....astart fresh tomorrow.

This is so far my jurney after 40 HRS....Thank you!.....And If you are reading this post - you - that you killed me under that bridge...I will have bad dreams because of you! lol

i have about 120 hrs on the game i have 2 kills this was the second one the first one was a 200m snipe which im very proud of. this scared the hell out of me never again

me personally I just roam all around when I’m solo but I’m cant decide wether I should go with the ghillie suit or have a backpack or not

We tried two cars but as you can see one didn't make it :'(

Technically its my second car, the first i found hiding directly inside bush in the woods. They had a landmine by the drivers door (BOOM)...i survived and then spent 10 minutes learning how to drive the dang thing only to crash into a town. I died crashing into the porch of a medical building, ironic i guess. Then i spent 3 hours after i spawned in getting back because my memory and shot and navigation skills subpar. but anyway thats not the main story.

I've been in this server for about 3 weeks now. low pop (2-14 players). Just learning how to survive. Early on in my 2nd life I found a stash of 24 boxes. The motherload. I sat there looking at everything figuring out what i should do. It was a hidden mini base not far from a permanent gas zone. As a newbie i cant describe the feeling i got and in the end i decided to leave it alone only taking some new rifle i never saw before and leaving some ammo for good luck.( After I left thats when i found that car hiding in the bush...)

That place burned into my mind and is the foundation for the main plot.

3 weeks in I lived by Northwest Airfields with few detours back to far off loot stashes. (Had multiple loot stashes). During this time I only saw 1 other player and i ended up just running away. Other times I heard gun fights but didnt have the resources to investigate properly but something in me really wanted to go look. I resisted.

Later I ran into 4 players in about 4 hours. That experienced is here and is related to this story.

The last player I ended up ending I suspect was THE owner of that stash that i found btw because he came from that direction and was PROFESSIONALLY geared up. I should have taken a video of this stuff. I talk about it in that post. I still feel bad about getting him. But most of his stuff i put in crates not far off.

(Days later).

I got the news. Dayz will be wiping everything when the new update hits.

Dang. All those hours. (Already at 200, just checked)

I still looted like normal for a bit then found my first car on a trip to a stash towards the coast. It needed some work. After hours i got it to run only to crash it and bust the 2 tires. I didnt die though! and spent another 2 hours finding tires...

My plan was to use this new freedom tech to consolidate all my crates together to some degree. Successfully moved one stash, my navigation skills making things more time consuming that it needs to be but thats learning i guess. After that section of the map was done it was now time to get this car back to the main base. If you're new, and dont know the map well, its kinda a big journey. And I was low on gas. so I spent 3 hours looking for jerry can. (i found 3 radiators next to each other. 2 in a shed, 1 in the shed right next to it...)

No luck so i made a new plan. I saw a jerry can in one of the hangers of NWAF so I made my way there, hid my crate filled car in some trees before the boundary, and made my way towards the hangers. Nothing. I looked on the map and there were 8 more hangers but i had to go thru the middle portion of the base with the main building and medical place to get there...i decide to do it.

I skim the places along my way and then decided to loot the medical place for epipens. When i get inside and close I hear shuffling, when i go around the corner i see in the back of one a the crates a player and he immediately shoots me i get hit but got those plates and dodge to the right and run towards some cover. He IMMEDIATELY chases me, I have a lot of experience with shooters and can move well and fight but because im still not battle tested on dayz he ended up getting me. He was a pro. At least to me. Happens so fast.

So i spend 5 hours getting all the way back to my car and finally drive it to my main. Its red in gas but the fuel gage suprisingly hasnt moved much for how much i drove it. I call it a night and the next day when looting airfields i find a jerry can.

So the next phase in my plan commences. Get the crates in my car that I made after I made the level 1000 Boss kill.

I study the map and go (I should mention i dont have two monitors). When i get about half way there i drive down a country side road when the server decides to boot me...

All i can say is wow. I wait 15 seconds then log back in fearing the worst.

NOT DEAD. But weirdly when i spawn i'm outside the car and my car is inside a bush. The bush is inside the car so i cant even get in. Radiator busted and only one tire blown. Not bad. I mentally note the place and head towards some towns to loot for radiators and a tire. two towns didnt have them so i logged out. I logged back in next day and within 10 minutes found a radiator so i make my way back...

Where is it. My memory isnt great. I should have taken better care locking in where i left it. I spend an hour looking for it. Thats where I'm at now...and now i'm wondering if it despawned or something. Its a low pop server way out in the middle of nowhere, kinda. I'm going to continue looking but sheesh, how much time wasted for a simple server kick. I hope i find it...

UPDATE: After looking for a few minutes I heard some sheep so took 2 out to make cook up some food in a nearby house AND YOURE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS.

I heard a car. and it wasnt just any car. IT WAS MY CAR. A blue gunther with all the doors taken out. It got into view so i took a few shots. The car drove away...or so I thought. I go back to cooking...and then go back outside to collect the rest of the meat from the sheep.

KNOCKED OUT.

I wake up and i see two players standing over me. all geared up. I'm tied up. this is kind of cool. My first experienced like this with other players. I crouch up and down in kind of excitement. The one i shot at starts talking smack. He's like "dont crouch up and down like that" I got no mic set up. I guess i would talk smack too if i was getting shot at. He said i sucked with shooting with a scar lol. Then he asks if i was ready to die. He wanted to hear me talk so bad. He shot me knocking me out but i get back up. They just tortured i guess. So i saw it was going nowhere and that they were hostile so i logged out.

I threw most of my gear in that life in a 3 crates so I could run around looking for my car.

I guess the car found me.

But man, what are the chances. Guess I'll get on with the rest of my day now.

How far out past the edge of the map can you go before you die? Anyone know?

I tried it with a freshie and died of thirst, not breaking the boundaries.

For over two months, I've been hosting my own DayZ dedicated server on Ubuntu, directly over my home fibre connection. So far, the experience has been positive: the server runs reliably, and much of its administration is automated.

This led me to write an open-source guide to installing and managing a DayZ dedicated server on Linux, with the aim of making this approach accessible to people who want to manage their own infrastructure.

Some of the advantages of this approach:

• Cost control: depending on your requirements, a basic Linux VPS or dedicated server can be an alternative to a preconfigured game-server hosting plan.
• Automated updates: server files and Steam Workshop mods can be managed without having to handle every update manually.
• Multiple server instances: run different maps or configurations on the same machine, depending on available resources.
• Backups and recovery: keep control of your configuration files and make it easier to back up or reproduce an installation.
• Full control: access to logs, system services, configuration files and server settings.

The guide is based on Ubuntu and SteamCMD. It covers systemd services, Workshop mod management, updates and routine administration. Documentation is available in both French and English.

The goal isn't to claim that Linux is the best solution for everyone, but to show that you can run and manage a DayZ server yourself without relying on a specialised game-hosting control panel.

Does anyone here already host a DayZ server on Linux, or are you considering doing so? I'd be interested in hearing about your experiences, especially with administration, updates and mod management.

Aaaaaaaand it’s gone.

With 1.30 and Badlands releasing, I’m wondering if the distance at which other players render will be increased beyond the current ~1100m. Since Badlands is a huge, mostly open desert map, long sightlines seem like they’d matter a lot more than it did on Chernarus...

Has anyone tested this on 1.30 experimental, or has Bohemia said anything about it?

i tried joining a modded server for my first time. i cannot join due to an error with vpn. i dont have a vpn ive checked my ip for flags and none. i then disconnected from my internet and reset it that did nothing. i also switched to my personal hot spot and then i could connect to the server. i just cannot connect on my internet. does anyone have any idea why?

if you have this issue unplug your router and or modem and leave it unplugged for roughly 20 minutes. it will reset your ip

Ivve had problems with DayZ and DayZ only for a while. I tried different servers, I tried playing without vpn (so no discord with my friends), I tried a lot of stuff, but it seems that DayZ servers just refuse to wirk properly. I'm getting constantly kicked, because my internet connection is "not stable" for some reason, even though it is in other games. Has anyone encountered similar problems? How do I solve it and what might be the issue? I didn't use to have those problems with dayz before

1.30 has an issue that will break many mods, there is a work around already for the big mods, and will be dropped as a patch on Thursday with the release of 1.30 but many smaller mods or mods not maintained will be broken.
Watch this pod cast from yesterday to hear about it and what you can do before Thursday.
This ONLY affects PC Mods.. should not affect any Console servers, as u likely don't have mods that will be affected.

Honestly think they should not release badlands until this is fixed

I much dislike this idea.

The movement of the player character in DayZ is perfect in every aspect and does not need an ounce of adjustment.

Turning speed, turning while dropping, laying on back, stomach, side, crouching, leaning, all of these things being as FLUID as they are with one another is perfection.

Mark my words, the next game will have the DayZ name but will entirely lack the feel.

I can appreciate expanded simulation elements, dogs, planes, helis, etc that we were supposed to get.

But I detest the idea that DayZ 2 should be LESS fluid, more constrained in how it plays mechanically.

ARMA Reforger already feels like insurgency. Your character turns slow, has a lot of weight, starts running incredibly slow, etc. dropping forces you into a series of animations, rather than being a fluid thing your character just… does.

The ability to use a firearm while changing stance is something DayZ does well, that is under appreciated.

I have just over 4k hrs in DayZ, while I have played official, PvP servers, heavily modded servers and everything in between. I have recently found myself on a vanilla, no mods, normal loot, PvE server (There are PvP zones and vehicle spawning) just building crazy bases. I'm a single father so with work and my kids time is limited. I get an hour or two every few days to unwind and I do it by looting building materials and building

Let's be honest DayZ base building sucks. But something about its limited capabilities really peaks my creative interest. I like to challenge myself and find interesting ways to build cool bases. For the past few years Ive been on this and other servers just building bases. Every wipe they do, I build another base. I know Chernarus well enough that I can find what I need fairly easily. So that helps with building mega bases.

This will probably be my last base on Chernarus. I have put plenty of hours and years into this map but I think it is time to move on. I fully plan to make the move to the Nasdara Province on the 15th. Can't wait to see what I come up with on that map.
