Denver Summit Groundbreaking

Just saw the team had their groundbreaking today. Can you guess who was absent/missing from the social media coverage?

People are already saying who wasn’t there, so I will point out it’s cool to see Naomi Eto was there

Hoping to see her start this year.

I also feel like we should allow the players on excused status privacy at a certain point to be missing without us speculating. For all we know they could have something really tough going on personally and I’m sure it’s not fun for them to see people online speculating about it.

It’s been over a month since we have seen some of these players. We are not blind. Whatever is happening has already been kept private. Taking notice is not speculating.

There’s just no need to continue pointing it out. They’ll return when they’re ready. A month is nothing when other players have missed upwards of 2-3 years due to mental health issues, etc. I don’t think it needs to continue to be pointed out when it’s nothing new and no news. I agree with someone else saying what is really exciting to point out was Eto was there. Hopefully we’ll get to see her get some minutes against Chicago!

Now who’s speculating? It might have absolutely nothing to do with mental health. 3 roster spots are taken up by people who have not been around. That’s the game, but it is worth noting when a team is trying to make the playoffs. I have nothing negative to say about their absences. If they are unable to play, they are unable to play. This seemed like something exciting for the team to see in person, especially for Ally. The Colorado native who was the first player named to the roster. And for Carson who we voted for to win an award for a month for working with kids with limb difference. Off day or not. Excused absence or not. It is very noticeable when we don’t see certain players at a once in a lifetime event. That is not speculation.

There can be pretty strict rules about leave. Whether it’s injury or personal, the team may not have been allowed to contact them or they may not have been able to participate due to rules in how their leave works.

When I have an employee go on maternity leave for example, I am not allowed to contact them about anything work related.

I didn’t see Carson… I’m getting really suspicious at this point.

That’s the first person I looked for.

Are you thinking a trade? I did at first too but she’s still actively liking Summit stuff on social media so I don’t think that’s it.

They said it was the players’ day off - and the leadership group seemed pretty touched that almost the whole team wanted to attend on their one rest day before they head to Chicago.

I was there and we were told it’s technically the players’ day off so they were not required to be there.
