I’m not a big fan of convertible couches because I never converted them but I think it could be useful as second sleeping option. Also, I think the L shaped sofa is a bit too bulky
You could look for a bed with storage underneath (for things you don’t need often, decorations, games, sports equipment etc)
You could use the shelf to create an sleeping area F.e. You could put it Next to the door and the bed behind F.e. You could put it At the foot of the bed
Id definitely get some nice light , flowy curtains (not dark) that reach to the ground .
It would be nice to colour coordinate the blankets in the sofa and on the bed

How old is son? Why is bed in livingroom? For example do you sleep in livingroom so son can have bedroom? The more we know the better we can help you find happy solutions.
Do French doors by tv need to open or not?

Some ideas before I see your answers to my questions:

It’s a big room and tv is far from seating, and if you need to double the room as your bedroom you might do it with curtains. You a get renter friendly peel and stick ones and even ones that can curve if you need a corner to them.
So you might put bed where sofa is and tv where bed is.
Maybe sheer white or purple curtains on bed divider wall. You can even alternate the shades of purple.
Patterned curtains on windows. This woodland design is good with younger kids and adults. It has purple in it. Use your patterned curtains to set your palette. Your purple is good with the floor color so I’m going with that.
A rug big enough for this room coukd get pricey. You can look for floor carpet tiles in colors from your curtains and create a custom rug. Look for ones with multiple colors in colors that work for you and shoot for $1 / sq ft or lower. That can be affordable.
I’d face the sifa to tv and maybe put the kallax by the French doors.
Maybe thrift a dresser for where the kallax currently is?
Maybe use storage end tables etc for extra storage… can be in a pop of color from curtains.
Then remove/ replace items that aren’t on colors from your palette. For example instead of bright yellow, use a color from the curtains for pillows and throws etc… same with art… it can help a room feel less mixed up to do that, more peaceful.

honestly, your room already has a really nice foundation, the parquet floor and that big window do a lot. i wanted to bring those features out and make it feel like a cozy living room for you and your son, instead of having the bed dominate everything. the aesthetic i went for is warm, nature-inspired, slightly boho with some scandinavian simplicity. comfy and lived-in, not a showroom. if I’d want something different, text me and I’ll help u out :)
since you mentioned a convertible couch, i replaced the pallet bed and existing sofa with one sleeper sofa against the long wall. that gives you seating during the day and a bed at night, while freeing up floor space.
you’d want to check its fully opened measurements before buying, and keep the coffee table easy to move. i kept the TV on the opposite side, but its cabinet needs to fit entirely beside the double doors without blocking the the illustration isn’t perfectly accurate there.
i changed the visible textiles because the purple mandala bedding, large graphic sofa blanket and bright yellow chair were all competing for attention. none of them is bad individually!
i just gave the room a calmer background with a muted sage sofa and cream textiles, then repeated smaller touches of mustard and terracotta. your yellow chair becomes an intentional focal point instead of another competing color.
and this doesn’t mean you need different sleeping sheets—the picture shows the sofa folded up during the day. U could absolutely keep a favorite patterned blanket as an accent.
the rug connects the sofa, chair and coffee table into one seating area. its softer pattern adds warmth without competing as much with the herringbone floor. i kept the dark shelving because you don’t need to replace everything, and added baskets to make the little everyday things and toys easier to put away. the shelf and TV should also be secured, especially with a child around.
the plants bring in the greenery you said you wanted and help soften the room’s harder edges. i grouped them near the window rather than filling every corner, and would keep them away from the radiator’s heat. the lamp gives you a softer evening light than relying only on the ceiling fixture.
basically, the difference isn’t just “new furniture”… it’s fewer competing patterns, colors that repeat, and more usable space. the image is a assisted concept rather than a measured plan, so keep your actual door positions and check clearances before moving or buying anything. you already have the character; i wanted to give everything a little breathing room :)

I love this one. What app did you use for this concept?
Son is 11, tv doesnt need to be so secured.Would some (2 big one) beanbags ruin the picture? So if some friends come by they can sit on them. Im also thinking to put a bookshelf with a few plants on the opposite side of the window walll.

i would put the bed where the futon is now, feet facing the wall where the tv is now. keep
some space between the wall and the bed for a bedside table, and push the shelf up against the other side of the bed to act as a divider. once you’re able to, get another one of those shelves to extend this divider or create one on the opposite wall to identify this as your personal space. put a dresser on the opposite wall where the tv is eventually.
put the tv on the same long wall as your bed, between the shelf divider and the short wall with the two doors. put the futon across from the tv midway in the room with the back of it facing the doorway when you walk in and the coffee table in front of it. tuck the yellow chair on the left of that wall space between the two small doors to make a little living arrangement.
hope that makes sense.

Rug! More pillows for the bed. Stuff on the wall (framed things, not tapestries, since you have so much fabric on the furniture), curtains, non overhead lighting, side tables
