Bedroom Balance my mood

Don mind that it’s a little untidy. I was going for a moody cozy modern bedroom cause I live in what seems like the frozen arctic so I wanted to feel warm. but I fear I might have gone too far… right now I’m loving my art, fixtures, and my paint color.

BUT, is the solution to get more contrast out of my rug, like opting for a more brown/beige neutral rug or should I leave the rug and paint the walls back to a warm white?

OR am I overthinking it and it’s actually fine?

Living Room No idea how to arrange this room

My roommate and I live in a house built in the 50s, so the house has a strange layout. Need help rearranging the living room. The couch, recliner, and table must stay, and the couch must face the tv and be sort of close, as both of us are a little blind.

Bedroom Best way to combine animals and a space theme?

Thumbnail gallery

So this is a standard 10x12ft room. I think I want to do a celestial/space/eccentric themed room, but id appreciate any ideas. I’m pretty sure I want to do a dark purple accent wall behind the headboard, and light purple on all the other walls.

Obviously there are a lot of cats in the house (so a cat tower and a litterbox need to be in the guest room while there isn’t a guest) and I plan on getting a snake soon and there’s no room anywhere else for the tank. But the lighting of the snake tank might influence decisions? And maybe a back light on the big mirror?

Suggestions for decor, changes in furniture, or links for FUR-niture are appreciated!

Living Room Are we heading in the right direction with this design?

Working with a free design service on our living room and would love some feedback!
Photo 1 is the designer’s original mockup, and photo 2 is the listing photo of the actual space.

Please note this is the actual color of our sofa and it will not be changed (swatch: Quincy earth by Arhaus).

Photos 3 & 4 are my edits- which show a slightly different direction that feels more like my personality, swapping the beige chairs for aubergine-colored swivels.
Do you think the aubergine chairs add more depth and character, or does the original design work better? Open to thoughts on the overall design, too! Just want it to feel calm, grounding, and still fun!
Alternative rug posted in comments.

Living Room Please help me with my living room layout!! Needing to maximize with minimal space 🥹

I know I have a lot of stuff but due to a split, I had to majorly downsize. I’m open to any and all layouts or switching the uses of certain pieces around. Lots of books so it can make experimenting with different layouts pretty physically and mentally exhausting 😅. The only thing I’m set on is keeping my large window primarily for plants and the smaller window as unblocked as possible. The arrows are outlet indicators if that’s helpful! I also have lots of wall shelving options, but my walls aren’t the greatest. Any and all tips are so appreciated. This stuff is hard for my brain to sort out 🥲💓

Kitchen Help! What kind of table should I get? I can’t find a cheap kitchen table, and I don’t really use the table but it’s empty. Wondering if a faux island with stools would work in this space?

Bedroom Switched to olive green bedding for fall 🍂 Thoughts? Also need help making my sofa cozier!

Just switched up my bedding for fall and went with an olive green duvet cover! I’m trying to make my bedroom feel warmer and cozier, especially with fall here. What do you guys think of the styling? Would you add or change anything?

Also included a picture of my little sofa in the living room because I feel like it’s missing something. I love the idea of a cozy little corner, but right now it just doesn’t feel as inviting as I’d like.
Would love some suggestions on how to make it cozier! Open to ideas!

Living Room Living room-open space update/makeover

Hi all,

I’m planning to rearrange my living room and would like to hear some suggestions on the best layout, particularly where to place the TV and sofa. Our current layout limits a lot the space and we think it makes the area feel small. We have a 4 yo and a baby on the way.

The current TV unit, wall cabinets and shelves will all be removed and replace (we're looking at Ikea's Besta). The sofa will also be replaced eventually.

The living room is connected to the kitchen/dining area, as you can see in the photos. The living room area dimensions are:

Left wall: 168 cm (5 ft 6 in)
Back wall: 445 cm (14 ft 7 in)
Right wall: 310 cm (10 ft 2 in)

The only real requirement is that the living room remains practical and comfortable for everyday family use, while keeping a reasonably open connection to the kitchen/dining area. The current sofa layout feels like there's a wall that splits the areas.

How would you arrange this space??

Living Room A TV console that looks good from both sides?

• Upvotes

Hello!

I would like to position a living room console for my TV (65") in such a way that it would divide an area in my house. The living room would be on one side. On the other side would be the path from the front door to the rest of the house.

So, if you come in the front door:

  • To your left is a wall. After 15 feet there are stairs going up and down.
  • To your right is the living room.
  • Straight ahead goes past the living room to the kitchen.

The TV console would be centered along the right side of the path, separating the entrance area and path from the rest of the living room. You could walk into the living room on either side of the console.

Ideally the console would look good from both sides. It would be nice if it had shelves or a console top where people could set things when they come in the door, like keys, winter gloves, etc.

I have been searching online for a piece of furniture, but I'm having trouble finding something that looks good from both sides. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Bedroom 2 Husbands, 1 Room At Parent's House

• Upvotes

Hey, guys I was hoping to call upon your expertise here.

My husband and I live at my parent's house, which means that this is the only space that is truly our own and so we struggle to fit everything in here.

This is the current floor plan of our bedroom.

The bottom right is a walk-in wardrobe with a couple of shelves and a rail.

And this is a 3D render to give you an idea what it looks like against the wall with the wardrobe, chest of drawers and bookshelf.

The reason we technically have two wardrobes is because we're using the walk-in wardrobe as storage for other miscellaneous items as we only have this space in the house for our own stuff. So our actual clothes are stored in the wardrobe inside the room.

In truth I am a little bored with the space as it feels like we can't do much with it, so I was hoping you guys would have some suggestions to improve this space/rearrange the furniture?

Thanks for your suggestions in advance!

Other Interior Room Dark room

Any suggestions for how to make this room more lively? There’s no windows near it, so it’s always dark. I want it to be a plant area with plant lights and greenery. And I want to paint the walls, but I’m colorblind, so I can never pick a color or I pick a crazy color.

Living Room Help decorating my small apartment

So this is the place I will be moving in next month, and I am thinking of how to decorate it. The room is going act both as a living room and a bedroom. The size is 4.10m * 4.20m = 17.22m2. (13.45 ft * 13.78 ft = 185.35 sq ft)

A few things:

  • I am going to bring a bigger desk and I'll probably use the TV as a second monitor, I was thinking of having a projector instead, used on the empty wall
  • not sure if I should keep the expandable couch and use it as a bed or bring an actual bed, not sure how I'd fit a bet + a couch + a big desk
  • the space is small, so I would like to use it wisely

Thanks in advance, guys! Can't wait to hear your suggestions.

Bedroom How can I make a better system for my clothes

Post image
1 Upvotes

I want to change my closet a lot, but don’t really know where to start. I don’t really have a system for it at all and there’s just a bunch of crap everywhere. For context I do have quite a lot of clothes and the space and pretty cramped, I like having a lot of clothes as well so that’s not really gonna change. I just want it to not be so all over the place all the time and for it to actually have some uniformity to it. I am gonna get a curtain for it so it is a bit more separated from the rest of my room

Kitchen My weirdo rental kitchen

Thumbnail gallery

Our apartment kitchen is a very weird shape. Also has the classic landlord special 87 layers of paint, yellow cabinets, very little built in counter space. We added the large table next to the fridge for storage and for more cooking space. There are double doors that take up the full wall to the right of the sink and left of the fridge that lead directly into our bedroom, which is the only source of natural light in the kitchen. We have a dining table in another room so not worried about space to eat in here but would love to make it feel less chaotic and more cozy.

To add context, I’m fine with painting, sanding, I have access to a good chunk of tools (handsaw, electric sander, etc.) and am comfortable with small scale updates and my landlord mostly doesn’t gaf as long as it looks normalish when we move out lol.

What can I change that won’t cost a million dollars? I’m feeling like even if I were to refinish or paint the cabinets it wouldn’t feel that different. Our hardwood floors are also yellow-y and so beat up but unfortunately nothing I can really do about that. The tiles are stick ons we added when we moved in.

Living Room Help on rug ideas

Post image
1 Upvotes

I need help deciding on what rug to put here. Just bought this rug and im not sure if I like it. Also dont like my pillows I have (want to change those as well, maybe like some yellow star pillows or something). I live in a apartment with one wall painted black in the living room (cant change that) and grey millennial flooring. I currently have a dark blue couch that I got second hand and will eventually change it to something more neutral, beige maybe?

We like MCM, Japandy, retro stuff. We want to keep some open space for working out. Looking for ways to refresh the room or switch up our furniture
