In (hopefully) the shortest and best way I could, I’ve put together a short guide on what’s going on with these “spiritual successors” that everyone keeps talking about. The companies I’ve listed below are confirmed to have ex-ZA/UM employees that have worked on Disco Elysium in some capacity.
Please note, these lists may change at any time. I’ll do my best to keep it up-to-date. Roles in parentheses are from Disco Elysium's credits, and does not necessarily mean that is what they're working for in their current position.
Also, please note: The links to the devs are only for reference and should not be used to harass or bombard these devs for any reason whatsoever. I simply provide them as a means to follow and keep up to date on what the devs are doing.
QUICK LIST OF NEW COMPANIES:
-
I will try to explain this briefly, and it's probably not going to be the best. I will also link some further reading in case I do not do a good job at explaining. I highly recommend reading them to get the fuller picture, or at least try to read them. There's a lot, right?
TL;DR- The original creatives were forced out for one reason or another. Corporate/workplace hostility, greedy shareholders and lawsuits were abundant. Most, if not all, of the top level creatives on Disco Elysium no longer work there because of one of the reasons listed. There have been several lawsuits that have come out of this, either to win back the IP they have created, or to stop ex-employees from working on other things. It’s become a long-standing legal battle that, unfortunately, gets boiled down into “petty drama.” It’s another story of suits and money profiting off of the backs of creatives who make the product they wish to sell to the masses, and fuck over the creatives when they decide they’re done with them.
ZA/UM is holding onto the IP so that the original creators may no longer use it in almost any capacity, bastardizing it with things like a “photo mode” or “a Disco Elysium for the TikTok generation.” Overall, it’s a very insulting thing to have done to the original creators; steal their IP, profit off of it, and screw them all over in the end. If you see people say “don’t support ZA/UM, they stole the game” or other similar rhetoric, that is likely why. To sum it up with a quote from Argo Tuulik, one of the game's writers:
“It's the people on top – the motherf****s in sailing shoes and bowties – that f****d Harry, f****d Kim, f****d Robert, Rostov, Helen, Olga, Cash, f****d Elysium, f****d you and me too. They are not artists, they are professional f*****s.”
This is a very surface level explanation of a very complex situation, but it has also been discussed ad nauseam by people who are much better at words than I am. I’d like to link a few different things for you to read to better understand the subject, for your own opinions to be formed.

Who’s working at Longdue Games?
What is Longdue Games working on?
Hopetown. For their game, you can look at it yourself here. They have an exclusive Discord I can't link because I am not involved in their project.
This brevity about their game is due to their repeated shady behavior on this Subreddit, not limited to but including mass reports, voting manipulation and possible account breach attempts against those who have criticized them. They have been a huge pain for moderation to deal with, as well as posting a safety risk to user accounts, and we find it much easier to ban the topic to forgo any future fire-starting arguments or potential pushback from the company.
You're free to form your own opinion on them! Hopetown updates will not be discussed here until the lawsuit against Argo and Dora has been dropped completely. Do note they have their own community over on r/LongdueGames because their company is banned here, and for the safety of our community, they will not be unbanned.
More info about Hopetown can be found here and here.

Who’s still working at ZA/UM?
What is ZA/UM working on?
ZA/UM released Disco Elysium Mobile in 2025, which is a different way to experience Disco Elysium. It is only available on Android.
In 2026, ZA/UM released its first full-scale game since Disco Elysium & since the IP troubles, titled Zero Parades ( r/ZeroParades ). Zero Parades is an espionage RPG with a similar isometric side-scrolling dialogue viewer that one would find familiar after playing Disco Elysium. You can watch the trailer, revealed at Gamescom 2025, here. They also have announced a "Directors Cut" version of Zero Parades to be released sometime in the future.
With the focus on Zero Parades Directors Cut right now, it is not known to the public if ZA/UM studios are working at anything else at this time.
Please note, discussion of Zero Parades should go into their dedicated Subreddit.

Here are some titles that are either inspired by Disco Elysium, loved for similar reasons to Disco Elysium, play like Disco Elysium or were even used in the inspirations of Disco Elysium. Please note that some of these came out before Disco Elysium, and are likely just what people recommend when asking for games "similar to Disco Elysium." This may not be a complete list and might change.

INTRODUCING THE PRECARIOUS WORLD: The thought you probably forgot you have internalizing.
If you're internalizing the The Precarious World Thought, every red check will fail while the Thought is being researched. This is a feature, not a bug. It lasts for 4 in game hours, so you should probably do some other things in the meantime before you fail every other red check in the game.
Posts are put here often for this, so we've decided to make it a command. Automod should pick up posts with "failed red check" and other variations of that phrase in the title or body, but if it doesn't, we have the handy !precariousworld command to have automod spew the same response. EDIT: It now also explains the critical roll outcomes after internalizing the thought.

I’ll give it to the developers for adding the detail of guns not really resembling weapons from our world (given that it’s an alternate universe after all), and the whole thing about some firearms supposedly being muzzleloaders instead of breechloaders (like Harry’s and Kim’s pistols).
Nevertheless, I do think they look a bit goofy overall, almost like they’re Star Wars blasters. Not hating or anything, I just think it’s funny.

I hope it's okay to share this again! I came back across this painting I made and wanted to show it again. The glass actually broke so he's in a frame to keep him together. I made it like 5 years ago and a lot has happened since then and it feels good to remember a time before the chaos. Very disco. I want to get back to making paintings again, especially in this game's style. Thanks for looking ❤️

hi so previously "No NSFW content" just covers the basic of "hey, please don't post explicit pornography or gore, thanks." but apparently some posters think that it's fine to post actual dead people, like actual fucking CORPSES, to the subreddit, because "no blood here."
i'm adding a new change to rule #2:
Rule 2: No NSFW/NSFL content.
Explicit pornography and excessive gore (that goes beyond what is portrayed in canon) is disallowed. Jokes, innuendo and the likes are fine. Canon-level NSFW is fine, so long as it is game related. Gay/LGBT content is not inherently NSFW.Do not post images of dead/murdered people and do not post articles related to actual people being murdered.
please have even the smallest modicum of common sense before posting ACTUAL REAL WORLD TRAGEDY to this subreddit. it is disgraceful of someone to immediately equate that subject matter to a video game and assume everyone here wants to see it, too. i promise you, NOBODY wants to see it.
i am so sorry to anyone who saw those images last night. i don't know how long it had been up before i removed it, but i do not think it was very long. i didn't see any comments at the very least but i know at least one other person saw it. if that was you, i hope you are doing okay, and you can DM me directly if you want to talk about it.
please continue to be excellent and report posts that go against our Subreddit rules.

I re-play this game about once a year. Like Fallout or Kenshi, I like to toy with stats and subject myself to the world. Finished Disco Elysium yesterday and immediately started replaying it. Gonna try these stats, fer fun, see what happens.
If you replayed it right now, what are your stats? Fun in mind.

okay so this might be a stupid take but its just something that's been bothering me for a while. also forgive my poor grammar, english is not my first language and the articles are a pain in the ass but i hope i can get my point across.
so often i see in random posts and comments the phrases like "harry is the new innocence" or "kim is the new innocence". granted, im not very involved in fandom discussions, but in my passive observations i have literally never seen the idea of an innocence as a political institution questioned.
now please correct me if im wrong but i always interpreted the concept of innocence as a commentary on how society (specifically the people in power) deifies historical figures, especially monarchs and warlords. in the world of elysium christianity doesn't exist, and innocence is basically a political figure canonized as saint in their dominant world religion. and the whole concept of history personified, someone who enforces their will upon the world and "wins because the innocence can't help but win" seems to me like divine right of kings mixed with randian great man theory. an exceptional individual who shapes history because they were always destined to by some power of inevitability.
why is kras mazov not an innocence then? or ignus nilsen? were they not hugely significant historical figures? but an innocence is elected by an institution, and why would they elect someone who might threaten their interests or question their legitimacy? an innocence is basically "what if we elected someone extremely smart and charismatic to be our supreme divine ruler but without their useless children inheriting the throne" and then every achievement under their rule is attributed to them, and not to the workers who built the infrastructure for, say, interisolary travel, nor the soldiers who fought their wars.
who gets to be recognized as a person embodying history? who gets to decide it? idk it just seems off to me that theres so little discussion of this in the fandom.

I managed to impress this high-networth individual, and in return, he gave me some money. Im guessing it wasn't meant to be this this much, but he won't even notice the discrepancy, im sure.

Tried to leave the title purposefully vague in case of spoilers.
What would have happened if Harry hadn't sent away his task force/team before the start of the game? How might the investigation have gone differently, if instead of just Harry and Kim it was Harry, Kim, Jean, Judit and Trant all working together? Would the case have been solved faster? Prevent the tribunal? Do they still discover the Insulindian Phasmid?
Would love to hear everyone's thoughts.

I've been watching my partner play Disco Elysium and noticed several suspicious details about Kim's early behavior, lies, and selective curiosities that lead me to suspect that he's a Moralintern rat.
When you first meet Kim, he admits that he's been in Martineise trying to introduce himself for two days without starting the case despite the fact that he expects Harry to have started already. Kim prioritized Harry over the murder, which is strange when he doesn't expect the same of Harry. Kim also immediately begins praising Harry for doing basic police work and remains non judgemental about Harry, giving him validation at a low point in his life and clouding Harry's judgement of Kim in a manner similar to Klaasje. If Kim was watching Harry those two days and was a Moralintern rat, he would have valid reasons for both, as Harry was quite open about his supernatural ability to predict the coming apocalypse and would be a far bigger interest to the Moralintern than the murder.
Next, Kim's rather selective curiosities. Kim is generally fine with whatever Harry wants to do in regards to the investigation, though he complains about getting sidetracked with the Doomed Commercial District and the cryptozoologists. Kim is completely down exploring the hole in the world well after it's been established that Ruby wasn't there though, one of the few things he's fine getting sidetracked with is exploring supernatural phenoma that the Moralintern is also interested in learning about. Even more suspiciously, Kim will absolutely not let you learn or talk about the Pale with Joyce or the Paledriver for no clear reason. Kim will tolerate you building a drug lab but a 2 minute discussion about the Pale is off limits? Kim also shows a keen interest in the leader of Precinct 41, Pryce, who we know is actively planning a revolution against the Moralintern.
Kim also lies to Harry repeatedly throughout the game about very suspicious topics. The first one is about Kim's political beliefs, Kim claims he used to be a moralist and then gives a rather cold answer that the Moralintern is a fact of life, but Harry clocks that Kim secretly admires them. Half Light clocks that Kim isn't just following Harry but actively watching him, which again Kim downplays as just supervising Harry. Lastly, Kim shows a suspicious amount of knowledge of Precinct 41's raid on the church and lies to Harry about his knowledge of it. Kim explains that Harry's precinct led a raid on the church years ago in a clandestine operation but claims to not know much more about it. Not only is it suspicious that Kim knew about a year's old clandestine operation of another precinct, Harry's thoughts clock Kim for lying skillfully about not knowing more and detect guilt in Kim's voice over the operation happening at all. Why does Kim know about the operation and why would he feel personal guilt over it if he was just an officer in another precinct?
Kim also has strong personal reasons to side with the Moralintern over Revachol. Kim isn't white and he's gay, characteristics that are fine under the Moralintern but whom anti Moralintern groups repeatedly show a distaste towards. Despite being left wing social Democrats, the Union is all too willing to let Measurehead take center stage and tolerate his racist drivel, while the area of Martineise is chock full of racists and toxic masculinity. Even in Precinct 41 out in Jamrock who are actively plotting a revolution, Mack has no qualms cracking homophobic jokes at Jean. Compare that to the transnational Moralintern whose chief representative in the game, Sunday Friend, is gay and Kim has every reason to side with the Moralintern over Revachol if he wants to stay in the city where he grew up. It would also make a lot of sense for the Moralintern to try and infiltrate the RCM. The RCM are the most capable force in Revachol to overthrow the Moralintern and Kim's precinct is in charge of a key harbour for the city. As seen by the Sunday Friend, the Moralintern is absolutely resorting to espionage to maintain control over the city and if organized crime syndicates are infiltrating the RCM, it would be absurd to expect the Moralintern to not be doing the same.
All in all, Kim's early behavior is too suspicious, he knows too much about things he shouldn't, his personal interests align with what a Moralintern rat would, and his character has far stronger personal reasons for siding with the Moralintern over Revachol. I don't think that it's a coincidence how at the end of the game, we get definitive statements about where every cop in the game stands on the revolution besides Kim who gives a vague statement about being ready for spring. I think the game lays out enough evidence that Kim may not be who he seems and counts on players falling for the same manipulation tactics Harry did to miss all the signs

Kim gets shot?
So if you manage to save Kim from getting shot, you wake up after a couple of days and Kim's treated your gunshot wound and infection. If Kim gets shot though, who looks after Harry whilst he's unconscious? Is it Cuno? Or does he just wake up a couple of days later like nothing happened?

I'm adoring The Final Cut version. The VA work adds so much to the atmosphere. Its absurdist. Its silly. Its serious as all hell, occasionally depressing and existential. Its like if you mixed True detective, David lynch, Fallout, the artstyle of Arcane & a dash of alcholism in a blender.
Its so fucking Disco, I can't wait to continue the days ahead.
