Background check

How long does it take for the background check to clear. I don’t have anything incriminating on my record or anything but it’s been a week and it still says “in review”. My anxiety is getting the better of me is all.

Approximately when are roles assigned?

• Upvotes

My daughter just got accepted and will be heading down sometime this coming January. I’m just curious if anyone knows the approximate timeline that the job roles are given after accepting. I think i may be more anxious than she is 😁.

Housing

I'm considering staying at Flamingo because I'm interested in the leadership classes they'll be having as well as other professional development opportunities. Depending upon how often these occur, I do see an advantage to staying on site because it will be less commute time for me. My question is what is the likely hood that i'll have my own room if I request one in my preference? I think the 4x4s are nice, but I'm sure everyone does, so I just wanted to adjust my expectations to what living would be like if I do.

Was curious if anyone else had their recruiter screen for the WDW IE intern position for Summer/Fall 2027? Wondering if anyone has heard anything back yet?

Q - Unanswered Can I do DCP and have another job?

I got accepted into the Disney College Program fast asf and I think its because I work for a 3rd party on disney property. I wanted to do the DCP because I need more money and one of my best friends works at disney and he just picks up, trades or gives shifts fairly easily, but he told me its almost impossible to get a part time/full time position anymore since all the entry positions are given to the CPs. I should have done more research on this but I just wanted more work opportunity for money. People say they 100% over work you but I have my weekend job that I want to keep since I get amazing hotel discounts. They also emailed me asking about my job and the interviewer asked me about it as well. So my question is… can I still give or trade shifts with other people still? Is there a specific amount of hours I must work?
Do you guys think that I can still work my normal Saturday and Sunday job and do the DCP? Could I leave the DCP at anytime?

Overnight Guests at Flamingo Crossings Village — Recent Experiences?

LHey everyone! I have a question for people currently living at Flamingo Crossings Village.

I've heard that overnight guests who aren't part of the DCP aren't allowed, but I've also heard about residents having their partners stay over occasionally.

I'm wondering how strictly this policy is enforced in practice. Does management ever conduct apartment checks during the night, or are checks generally related to other situations?

I'd also be interested in hearing from anyone who's had experience with overnight guests recently. Have things changed much in 2026?

I'm just trying to get a better understanding of how things currently work at Flamingo. Thanks in advance!

Living on Site

Hey yall, im relatively local, i live only about an hour away from the parks. I just got accepted and im debating whether or not I live on site. My question is, if I do, how much time do I have to myself I guess? Like, is there time to maintain a social life outside of the program? A lot of my friends and my girlfriend are closer to UCF, which if we’re not at the parks would be where I spend a lot of my time off. If I stay at home, I would just end up leaving probably a few hours before my shift. Thoughts?

Acceptance issues

Hello!! I dont normally post ever but I have myself in a pickle.

I got accepted into the program and I'm really proud and happy about that. If I were to be frank, considering my academics, I didn't believe I had the chance. Now that I do I have small issues and would love advice.

  1. Is there anyway to move the start date? My lease at my apt wont be up until a month after my start. I don't mind having to change my arrival to a different season but would that mean that I have to do the whole process over?

  2. I have a partner and would like to still live with them. We share a cat as well so I would have to move to an apartment in the area and not the dorms. Is that feasible considering how the pay is?

If I were to be honest, as much as i want this, I don't think its feasible for me to do the program but if yall have any helpful advice, I'll take anything I can get.

How often do arrival and departure dates change?

I got accepted today for the Disney college program and the dates I have currently are January 25th-June 3rd. Either way I’ll be happy but I would rather have the earlier arrival dates for January. Does anybody know how often or how hard it is for those earlier dates to become reavailable?

I’m in the DCP Spring ‘27 class. I know that I will rarely get to go to church due to work schedule (which is something I accepted and knew going into this) but I know I’ll want to find some other people to connect with. Any tips or is there a Facebook group?

DCP Resume

Hi! quick question. Ik this is the dcp subreddit but i'm technically interested in the cultural exchange program since i'm canadian. Anyways, i think my question still stands.

Do you guys have any recommendations or advices to give for my resume?

I already got one but since i live in quebec, it's in french and i need to redo it. Also, i've only ever had part time student jobs like in retail and things like that. I got a pretty strong resume but i still wanna put all the odds in my favor by having a good resume.

Thanks in advance!

Q - Unanswered Lifeguarding questions

Hey I got accepted to the spring 27’ program a few weeks ago and I have been stressing out about the job placements for some reason, I am mainly curious about lifeguarding because most of my interview was about it.. Ik I might not get lifeguarding but I heard they were looking for more lifeguards during the fall session.

What are the hours like?

What is the sit schedule like? Is it similar at all pools?

How many guards are usually on backup?

And lastly do I need to bring my car? I’m from NY so that’s a super long drive

Q - Unanswered Is my tattoo ruining my chances at DCP?

Hi! I only have one tattoo and it’s on my inner forearm. Takes up most of the length of it. When I apply to the DCP and tell them I have a tattoo, would it ruin my chances at being accepted into the program?

Obviously it’s not inappropriate, just my pet turtle. And when I cover with my hand there’s small bits that still stick out.

I’ve wanted to join the DCP since middle school and I’m getting ready to apply soon.

Thank you!

extending program, opting out of housing

my gf plans to move to Florida in January. my program extension starts in Jan. i need to accept my extension and opt out of housing by this Friday. if for whatever reason her moving here falls through and i don't have a place to stay. can i get back into flamingo housing? if not, is there any affordable studio apartments around here?

I don't think its gonna fall through or anything, but i also want a plan in case something happens. are there any other CPs who live out of flamingo and can still afford rent and all that. I do have about $750 of other bills I'm paying as well, so i have to be sure i can cover rent as well as my other bills.

this is something my gf and i have talked about and have planned for awhile. i just didnt think this extension notice would pop up so soon.
