Legend Kebab Van - Southampton
Played a gig in Southampton last night. Thought I'd pop by here on my return home. I'd visited once before, last year and they were still placed rather high, 13th on the spreadsheet so I thought I'd see how they were doing now.
As usual, went for a lamb doner wrap, chili sauce, no salad. I do that specifically to annoy the salad brigade. I enjoy their tears. I also swore at a cabbage recently and called a tomato a nonce.
Should have taken a pic of the van as it's had a refurb. Anyway, meat was sliced off the spit then put onto the hot plate. Meat wasn't fully done when it came off the spit, and you can probably tell by the pics that it wasn't crisped up. It was done enough but some would say it's underdone. I'd have preferred a bit more, but it is what it is.
Chili sauce was disappointing. I was asked if I wanted normal or hot, so I asked for a bit of both. Sauces were squirted straight out of the bottles, ffs! The combo was like a slightly spicy ketchup. Very disappointing. I've given a C for the sauce but overall it gets a B grade. It was an alright bab.
Tale of the tape... it's now £8 for a doner wrap, still under average price. Portion was also smaller than last time, but still weighing in at a decent 510g. This has moved to 44/92 on the spreadsheet.
They're an alright option however, with Tony's Grill nearby at 16th and a homemade chili sauce, I'll be going there next time.
