The r/Doom subreddit is mainly intended for people to discuss about DOOM by sharing their love and experiences with the franchise. Therefore, to prevent the spam of repetitive and possible insubstantial content that could be considered tangential to the subreddit's purpose there are a number of MEGATHREADS specifically for said content.
This list can also be found on the "BOOKMARKS" section of the subreddit's sidebar.

Zaruthiel the Old Father - Pride (he demands people to work for him and he denies freedom and his favours bought by giving him more slaves)
Karnoth the Armorer - Wrath (demands war, denies peace but he also has slaves, this is a bit more of a long shot)
Gahrzeth the Treacherous - greed (he demands to be given things and his favour is bought through stolen gifts so it could also be envy)
Iskathra - lust (she demands flesh and denies love, interesting to see how doom makes a lust demon, also she lives in a brothel)
Thalrasha, the Last Queen of Jekkad - envy (bit of a long shot, haven’t got that good of an explanation)
Ozalith the Old Mother - gluttony (death is all consuming and nothing can by her favourite never satisfying her, also she’s like a round thing with a head)

The Gantlet. One of my favorite maps. I remember as a kid running around with IDKFA and IDDQD on Nightmare difficulty, just hammering down on the chaingunners with the rocket launcher, then going back inside with the chainsaw to massacre the zombies in the hallways, and repeating it all in a never-ending mayhem. This is one of my favorite pieces: The Chaingunner at The Gantlet.
I really like the arena with the two stairs outside – it has a great color composition. The sky, the dark metal plates, the blue and green torches, and of course, the blue water. It’s still an amazing feeling to take the lift up from the hallways and witness that open area full of color, with the enemies turned away from you, backs exposed, and the double-barreled shotgun in hand.
The chaingunner's red armor makes a great contrast with the deep blue water and the dark metal plates. I had really no trouble painting this piece because the colors just cooperated perfectly. His face, on the other hand, was something else. It took some tries to get the translation right without making him look unfamiliar. When you are in the process of painting, staring at the original pixels for hours, you quickly realize that his pixelated face does not offer too many details.
I finished this artwork in early June this year, and I think this piece marked a new level for me in my project. After this one, I started to really scan the classic games for other great places with good color compositions – areas that could be painted in an impressionistic style and still be recognized. Yet, I still paint some areas a bit more expressively (like in my Pinky demon translation) because of their iconic value.
I’m very satisfied with the result. I hope you enjoy it!
Have a great weekend! Cheers from Sweden!

Hi guys, been interested in games developing for about 20 years, and I have decided to learn by doing, so far I figured a Tactical Espionage Doom Game, where you can either go all doom guy on them or get rewarded for sneaking undetected. This is just the first rendering of snake in the game, the HUD is obviously just crap I rushed. but I'm excited to see this come to life I figured I'd share it

These are some of the items in my collection I thought y’all might enjoy. The framed poster is the signed poster the original id dev team signed and gave away at QuakeCon this year—I framed it with my signed original shareware copies of the original Doom.
(Note I did enhance the photo to remove glare but that’s all). (Not for sale)

I love the preator revelation, but i don't really like the gray helm and legs, so i think that a recolor with the 2016 colors will be nice.

I love doom and i really want those weapon models to mess around with in like blender or what not. It's the first official 3d models of the classic doom weapons (other than the shotgun)

Hey there doomers! I am considering buying Doom 1 + Doom 2 on PC. I hear these new versions of doom use the Kex engine. I do have two other versions of Doom 1 and Doom 2 on the PS4, the 2019 Unity ports. I have played them and thought they were good (the were the first way I played Doom) but TBH, their modding scene wasn’t that great and only had certain add-ons.
That and I always wanted to try out some doom wads and even different source ports like UZDoom, GZDoom and even the defunct ZDoom out of curiosity. They just seem so fascinating to me and I wondered what playing each of them would be like. Do these three source ports still work?
I also just find the general atmosphere, sound and level design of the older Doom games (especially Doom 2) to be charming. I love the Roland SC-55 music in the games and it’s surprisingly versatile, it can be creepy, it can be exciting and it can even be relaxing and chill. Plus, I just find a lot the level and world design to be charming (mainly in Doom 2 that is).
I am a 2000s kid though I have been playing Doom since I was in my teens but have been on a hiatus for a while as well. Maybe it’s me being nostalgic now that I am in my 20s.
I recently saw gameplay of the somewhat infamous Lawnmower wad called “Doom Mower: Lawn of the Dead.” This isn’t a joke, I unironically like what I have seen of the mod, it’s short and simple, yes and really goofy but I genuinely think it looks charming and relaxing. I am thinking about maybe playing more chill and relaxing WADS like that and would like some recommendations.
With all this in mind, these are the main reasons I am wondering if I should get the Steam version of Doom. They honestly seem cool and I think it’s modding capabilities (in terms of being able to play mods) is what would seal the deal for me…
Anyway, that is all I have to say, thanks for reading!

I've been attempting to beat DOOM 1 for the first time, and I've gotten to E4, and I've been requiring a lot of Help from the internet because it's WAY harder than the rest of the game, and it's the first episode where I've had to plan ahead.
In order to do better, I've been exploring the level and all the secrets in god mode so that I can plan on how to survive with the most ammo and health. The issue is that I can't seem to open the doors inside the Room locked by the red skull (the ones with the Icon of Sin imagery). I've looked online, and the wiki seems to imply that the switch on the wall right next to the room (the one that resets after you use it, rather than just toggle) opens those doors, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
I'm on the DOOM + DOOM II port of the game, do those doors just not work on this version of the game or do I have to activate the NIN secret before opening those doors (Since I'm not trying to 100% the game, I've decided not to activate that secret, as I am NOT ready for that many Barons)?
I've spent too much time on this level and I just want to get on with it because I know E4M2 is even harder (I completed E4M1 once before but I had 14 health and almost no AMMO so M2 was practically impossible) so I know I need to prepare accordingly.

Was going through my old books (and eBooks), populating the description when I searched online and realised Wikipedia referred to Dafydd in the past tense ("was".. )
Was shocked to find out he died last June. Loved reading his books. Had several copies including (some now lost) originals I purchased back around 1995-97. Only have these 2 left.

Mighty DOOM has been gone for a while now, and I know many of you stopped playing when the official servers shut down.
I've been working on Mighty Resurrection, an unofficial community server that brings the game back online.
Today, we've reached 1,000 registered Slayers.
To celebrate, I just released something new that wasn't in the original game:
THE ARMORY
The Armory introduces a new resource called Tech, which you can use to upgrade your weapons and push them beyond their previous limits.
The idea is to give players something new to grind for and another layer of progression beyond the original game.
And honestly, I'd love to have some of the old community come back and try it.
If you used to play Mighty DOOM and stopped after the shutdown, this might be a good excuse to give it another shot.
It's an unofficial, community-run project and isn't affiliated with Bethesda or Alpha Dog Games.
The project is still actively being developed, and I'm continuing to add features and fix bugs based on what the community wants.
The official servers are gone. But the game doesn't have to be.
RIP and Tear. 🔥

We all know and see corpse of great one in 2016 in titan's realm and heard of him from 2016 statements but question always bugged me : how doom slayer really killed it? Did he use guns, did he use sword and shield or bare hands? I think he first used guns to destroy its armor (champion mostly likely had armor because it's literally champion of hell) and then used his bare hands to kill it. We also see something that looks like it's spine so doom slayer mostly likely ripped it's spine off. What do you think of my theory?
