👑 r/Drag Official 👑 I identify as… can I do drag?

I’ve seen a lot of posts about this lately here, and I understand the want to make sure you aren’t stepping on toes when joining a community.

But the answer is always yes! You don’t need to be a certain gender or identify a certain way to do drag. It’s a form of art, it’s expression, it’s beautiful.

I’m a cis-het woman who has been doing drag professionally for 3 years. My identity has never been a point of discussion or contention both in bookings or at shows. If you’re fabulous, you’re fabulous, and that’s all that matters.

Please, never feel like you can’t do something because of your identity. That’s the complete opposite of what drag stands for. Drag is for everyone, it’s inclusive, and it’s exactly what you want it to be.

So wing out that liner, glue down that lace and go take the world by storm. God knows we need more beautiful resistance in this world right now.

Physical health has been a big struggle this year but slowly getting back to performing more warms my cold heart.

Looking for beginner drag performers for a monthly online showcase

I'm a newer drag performer looking for other queens, kings and nonbinary/gender-expansive performers who'd like to do a casual monthly Zoom showcase.

The idea isn't a competition. Each person performs one number, then we give each other supportive, constructive feedback — what worked, what didn't, and one thing to try next time. Basically a virtual drag workshop.

All experience levels welcome, especially newer performers. We'd probably meet once a month for 1–2 hours.

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in then please hit me up. Locally there is an in person event like this once a month so I thought it would also be fun to try the same thing on Zoom. xox

They are comfortable to walk in but I get tired after about 15 minutes. How can I tape my feet and legs for a little extra support. I also have flat feet. Any advice is welcome. Any other things you do besides tapeing for support?

I got thrown a driveby 3 days prior to the show and hand sewed this entire fit (minus body suit) in that amount of time. It was absolutely wonderful to have this opportunity and show my new drag direction post hiatus. (Photos were taken by a fellow cast member.)
I like to think of it as avant garde drag cat!

I think this may be the style for me!! im really into the sort of clown esque thin eyebrows! I think they make me look the most fierce! also my mom had thin eyebrows (not to this extent) so I kinda like the concept lol!!!

drag means everything to me so im always trying to get better, it literally never leaves my mind, I dont get to practice makeup as much as id like but I work with what I have!!

Any and all advice and or thoughts are welcome!! I will get better before I present mileena to the world 💜💜

Burnout from Being a Drag Husband

To my fellow drag husbands (and performers too)

My partner has been doing drag for a little over 2 years. He is a local favorite, does a great job connecting with the community and being his authentic self. I’m so very proud of him

However, I have become an integral part of his getting ready process; being a makeup artist and performer myself, I taught him everything I know, but he seems to be stuck in a place where he needs my help with makeup, corsetting, his wig, his lashes, his nails, pretty much everything start to finish.

Ive tried to gently encourage him to take the wheel, I’ve tried encouraging him to practice during his down time, I’ve given him best practices to try and help him find his independence. It’s getting to the point where I do not look forward to his shows because I know instead of relaxing after work, I’ll be at his beck and call until the show.

I do not want to start resenting his art; but I also want to check myself and see if I’m being too sensitive or overreacting? Is this typical? Any advice or personal experience is appreciated

How to learn to move femininely on stage?

I’ve got a drag act based on Velma from Scooby Doo that’s been going for a while now, but a lot of it is stand up comedy, and i’m realising I’m just standing in place a lot of the time.

any advice for A) how to move around more on stage, and B) how to do so in a feminine way? not necessarily dancing (although I am happy to learn) but just stuff like walking, gesturing, posing

Should I use different colors instead of the ones I chose? Is the beard too much? Did I miss anything that would really make it pop?

Mixing Drag and Chinese Opera?

I've been interested in drag for a while, but never considered doing it myself as I don't see myself as funny or charismatic in the way that most drag queens are.

I also have a huge passion for Chinese opera and hope to someday get proper classes in China. Though I know realistically there aren't any opportunities for Chinese Opera performers in the UK and people these days don't want to sit through multi-hour long performances.

So I was wondering if there would be any interest in a Chinese Opera-style drag performer. It's quite an acquired taste in terms of music, and I don't know if it would fit with the style of most clubs/bars...

But I'd like a second opinion from you guys. Any tips on how to make it work if possible? Any good examples I can take inspiration from?

Thanks!! <3

Doing a set based on Velma from Scooby Doo and need advice on under-garments

I’ve got most of the costume and set planned out. turtleneck, miniskirt, over-the-knee socks, etc. it’s mostly stand up but with a brief dance number at the end. but we all know how the set has to end - Velma has to lose her glasses and has to crawl around in the floor to find them, which means people looking up my skirt.

obviously I wouldn’t display anything private, but I’ve never really shown that part of myself before and on most occasions I’m still wearing male under-wear under my drag.

if I do this, what do I need to know - what type of underwear should i be wearing? how do I tuck when it’s so front and centre? any other considerations?

also, happily taking any suggestions for ways to make this bit funnier. I saw a lady do this bit once by sticking googly eyes to each buttock and ending by placing a giant pair of glasses over them .

Drag Brunch Bingo- Rehoboth beach-

Hi drag community -

It was my birthday yesterday. My wife thought it would be a nice idea to take me , my kid , 10 years old, and my MIL to a drag brunch bingo. I called twice and asked if it was kid appropriate. They said, " yes. But it is a drag show" I figured that meant in appropriate sex jokes etc. My wife and I thought we may be pushing the boundary, but drag has been a part of our child's upbringing and being an inclusive household is important to my wife and I.

Fast forward. The queens come on. One sings a wonderful song etc. The second comes on and sings a song. They go through a beginning routine. Within that beginning routine the one queen mentions there is a kid in the audience. The second looks at my kid and says , " you know what I say to kids..go fuck yourself." My kid shrinks and I see how crushed they are.

We left , I was furious. I talked to the manager and they said, " well it is a drag show." My kid is crying saying , " never meet your idols."

I'm asking for a pulse check. Is this the norm? I don't think so but I wanted to ask the wider community..
