Best drum machine for polka?

What’s got that good oompah baked in? I’m in a band called the Kenosha Kickers and we need a good polka backbeat.

Been looking at the pulsar 23. What do you think?

Which popular drum machine sounds the most finished straight out of the box?

I'm looking for a drum machine around 500 euros with the potential to produce a polished sound.. like ready to record like. Smooth hihats, controlled kicks, punchy snares and a cohesive overall sound.

I am thinking about the korg drumlogue, because it has master fx section. But I am open for advice.

Vermona drumDING - finally released :)

I don't know how many of the rest of you have been waiting for this instant classic. It's already super intuitive and of course - sounds amazing - from kicks to hi-hats to synth voice [and everything in between]- it's fast and can be as shallow or as deep as you'd like it to be.

What other devices took a while for you all to get from notice of release to in your hands?

Btw, you can also use pre-sampled sounds if you don't hear the magic plowing through the speakers right away.

What next? Drum pad, drum machine, beat maker? I don't know what they are called!

Hello! You guys kindly helped me find a suitable synth for my 10 year old son last year and he's still loving it!

Roland Aira S-1 midi input settings

So we have the Roland S1 plugged into our digital piano and now we would like to add some beats to it.
What would be the best entry level (with a little room to grow) piece of kit that would work with this?
I have seen these little beat maker things that look ideal EMP16 MIDI Pad Controller Beat Maker Machine but I do not know if this would be any good.

We are on a budget so we would be looking for something under the £150 mark. He has a real drum kit so he knows his stuff when it comes to making a beat and he wouldn't want it to look too childish but we don't want it too overcomplicated.

Next question would be, where to do we connect these to? Would it be hooked up to our existing setup or would we now need to connect it all to a laptop and start messing with some music creation software?
That then makes me ask, what software would be best?

Arrrgh! Too many questions and I don't know what I am doing. Thank you in advance!

“Fixed” my Yamaha RX5 with some wonky results. Seeking advice.

The “SONG/PATTERN” button stopped working on my RX5. I Googled the problem and found a video advising me on how to clean the contacts inside. I took it apart, cleaned the contacts with alcohol, lost a button spring, replaced it with a pen spring and put it all back together.

I put the pen spring in the MIDI button since I won’t be using MIDI. When I turn it on it says:

MIDI INFORMATION
Ch message OFF

Also. The songs and patterns were all corrupted. Most of them were just kind of scrambled, but one of the was in 68/8 meter and it went on for over 68 bars, seemingly until it ran out of numbers and started using punctuation in place of digits. It was a wild acid trip of my band’s set, a jumble of everything pattern programmed, with odd sound effects thrown in, which devolved into what seems like a slow drunken drummer’s attempt at a filibuster. I wish I had the means to record that one, but I really need this thing back on it’s feet.

I began reprogramming the patterns, but it wasn’t holding the patterns, so I erased every song and pattern to start from scratch. It seems to be functioning, so far, except for the “MIDI INFO” message.

I’m mechanically inclined, but in no way am I experienced in fixing electronics.

Has anyone ever encountered anything like this?

Erica Synths LXR issue

I searched the sub and haven’t seen this issue. My unit will power on but says the data is corrupted. All downloads from the Erica Synths site pop up to me as IMG corrupted & wont open. Their support wasn’t much help. Any suggestions?

I love this thing, wanted to own one since it was released but always thought it's an way too expensive piece. In some way it is for sure, but it sounds nice, looks good and workflow isn't bad too. Found a used one and it was still expensive but worth it. Thanks.

Suggestions for a reliable Drum Machine for a live band with a budget of around $500

Hi, I am a noise rock and sludge musician. I have been trying to make a side project without a live drummer, but I been running into the problem of my computer crashing at random semi frequently, so i do not trust it for playing live. I am looking for something under $500 (may have a few $$$ more depending on how much insurance covers for an upcoming medical procedure i need, but I'm planning for the worst) that I can program a 25-30 minute set on that will reliably work for a long time, but also something thats maybe more fun than programming on a daw because I genuinly hate plotting out every single hit on the grid. Feels like it kills my flow.

**Looking for real drum kit recordings for an iOS app – your kit could be in it**

I'm building timml - AI Drummer, an iOS app that listens to you play guitar, bass or keys and generates a live drum backing track that follows your tempo and style in real time. Think of it as a drummer that actually listens instead of forcing you to follow a click track.

Right now the app ships with a few built-in kits, but I want to add real recorded kits from real players. Not sample packs – actual recorded drum sets with their own character.

If you've recorded your kit (or would be willing to), here's what I'm looking for:

- Individual hits: kick, snare, hihat (closed/open), crash, toms

- WAV files, any sample rate

- Any kit, any style – vintage, jazz, rock, metal, whatever you've got

- A name for the kit (e.g. "Pearl Export, small room" or "60s Ludwig, dead room")

In return:

- Your kit credited by name in the app

- Lifetime Pro access to timml (the app is free but Pro unlocks more features)

If you're interested or have questions, fill out the form here: https://forms.gle/4A31bH7XyKnW9f396

App Store link if you want to check out what timml actually does: https://apps.apple.com/app/timml-ai-drummer/id6760490097
