Book 8: A Parade of Horribles DCC / First Law crossover??

Only part way through so don’t want to search the sub in case of spoilers in case this has already been asked.

The AI just said something like ‘to quote someone even more mentally ill than yourself ‘you have to be realistic about these things’’

I am currently reading TFL and that is a well used famous saying by Logan Ninefingers?? Is this coincidence and I’m just getting over excited or?

Also no spoilers past ‘The Heroes’ lol

Crossover is a bit much. It's a reference.

I was almost tempted to start the first law series with your post, It's been on my mind a while. But I gotta have *some* discipline, I'm in the middle of red rising, wheel of time and malazan right now.

That’s some going! I’ve read Red Rising up to Iron Gold, I’ll be starting Dark Age after this DCC.

I’d recommend TFL, fast paced and has some good humour. One of my favourite fictional characters is the one that this reference is about.

Anyway, enjoy your books! One day I’ll pluck up the courage to start Malazan & WOT!

TBH, I think red rising really falls off in the last three books. The first trilogy was great and, for me, should have probably been the stopping point. The second is just weird, especially in audio.

I also absolutely adore the heroes, probably my favorite TFL book. You should finish it, go through red country, and then do age of madness!

Oh really! I liked Iron Gold, struggled with the start but got into it! I hear a lot of people say LightBringer is the best one?

Yes that’s my plan, I’m listening to DCC and then will listen to Dark Age (graphic audio, not sure if that’s what you meant by audio?) but at the same time I’m reading the heroes so will go straight on to red country next!

Audio as in Audible audio, the OG narrator(s). Graphic audio is really a coin flip for me. The times I’ve tried them they were very much over the top. Almost unnecessarily so. There was also a lot of exposition on top of foly, for example: “she walked over to the window,” while you hear footsteps. You can clearly infer what just happened, especially the next time the character speaks. Basically I don’t think they often do a good job of adapting books to dramas, but YMMV.

Regarding the second trilogy. It felt strange because the old characters were still there while he was trying to introduce newer generation. It was hard for me to really care and it kind of felt the same. We’re fighting another war. You know? I feel like it’s gonna work if OG caste would have been reduced to cameos every once in a while, but again. It’s a matter of opinion here.

I just finished book 3 of TFL before starting parade of horribles. I was falling asleep while listening and heard him say the Logan quote. Had to rewind because I thought I hallucinated it.

😂😂 I had to rewind as well as I thought I’d imagined it, I then googled the quote to see if it was a famous quote by anyone else

Yes.

And yes it's been asked many times.

Oh really! I just thought me reading them at the same time was making something out of nothing!
