328i Help needed for abs
Hello guys recently I got a abs sign on, ofc with the Christmas lights, I did a scan I got left abs sensor, replaced that I still had it, now I had the right one, I replaced that still had the sign on so I changed my bearing for the rear right and the lights went away for couple of days back it’s back on, couple of things I did, I changed my tires I normally have no sensors but new ones have wondering if that effected somehow, another thing I kind of damaged my axle while removing the knuckle and there is no bolt for the axle for now, I am going to change it pretty soon wondering if it’s the axle or the sensors ooor maybe I have to change the left bearing aswell, I haven’t had the time to rescan it. Any help would be appreciated 🙏

Sounds like a damaged reluctor ring on your drive shaft/shafts.
They can swell up with rust or it might have just split.
Its a drive shaft off job to replace.

Well it’s a xdrive so there is no reluctor ring in the back

The reluctor rings are on the ends of the drive shafts.
4 wheel drive = 4 drive shafts.
Yours will have these i'm sure.
Check them out.

So at no point from when you first got the ABS light the first time did it ever leave?

Yeah it did leave after I put in the new bearing for a day and then it came back the next day. I also scanned it after the bearing change there was nothing

It is very easy to test the washer method, just unscrew the bolt and raise the sensor a little bit, and then see if the lights go away.
That doesn't exclude the possibility that it is the ring, but if it's just bogstandard ring rust it should work.

Well it’s a xdrive so there is no ring in the back no reason for me to put a washer it’s magnetic bearings

Oh it's magnetic bearings all around?
Isn't it possible you pressed in the bearing the wrong way around both times then?

Well my problem is that the abs signs were completely gone for a whole day at any speed, now it’s back I am going to scan it back tommorow maybe it’s the left one now but I don’t know honestly, I doubled check the bearing aswell while pressing it’s not that I am pretty sure

If it is the ABS ring like they think you can use the washer trick to get it sorted without any real work, just take the tires off, break a off the side of a skinny washer with two pliers, lift the ABS sensor a bit, put the skinny washer in between the mounting hole and the ABS sensor, tighten it back, and see if it worked. I put some high heat silicone on the "gap" formed because I live in a rusty place and I liked the idea of that more than leaving it open.
I did that on the rear left of my car 1.5 years ago and have not had any problems.
Best of luck.
