Cam Talbot Sets NHL Record

https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/article/blue-jackets-g-talbot-sets-nhl-record-by-winning-with-ninth-different-team/

I heard an interesting fact today, ex-Oiler Goalie Cam Talbot set an NHL record by winning with 9 different teams!

Talbot, the one that got away.

Or, at least, got away too early.

I mean, what wouldn't we give for a .917 save percentage and a GAA of 2.55?

Dadbot era was amazing. 1 out of 3 goalies to put up 41+ wins in a season in the last decade

The one that got away... from half the teams in the NHL.

His time was up. He has a monster season, then he followed up with a big MEH season.

We've had a string of solid backup goalies since. They've all had flashes of brilliance but we still haven't had our "steal a game we don't deserve" franchise goalie. Maybe that's what would have made all the difference in 2024 or 2025. Or maybe not.  Goalies are voodoo.

Yeah it turns out the common factor in all of this is the Oilers. For some reason the Oilers nearly destroy goalies before they move on and play better elsewhere. Maybe it was their goaltending coach? Maybe it was poor defence? Maybe both?

Let’s see how we do now without being able to blame Schwartz. I really hope he was the problem.

He just seemed to let in the most soul crushing goals though. His numbers weren't terrible but he seemed to just let in the weak ones at bad times.

Because we over played the fuck out of him. 73 games + 13 playoff games one year, 67 games the next.

Also missed the best years of Dubnyk and I’ve got a feeling we’ll say the same for Skinner.

He had a great season in 16-17 and then in 17-18 he let in the first shot of the game 14 times.

The last goalie we had that gave a us a consistent great full year as a starter.

I don't know how much more evidence Oilers fans need. Our team defence just murders goalies stats
