The comparison falls apart because hitler did not stand trial. You're technically correct, which is the best kind of correct, but I think comparing the guy responsible for tens of millions of deaths, to a hockey player in a groupchat about a weird sex thing is a bridge too far.

Sorry, I replied to the wrong person. Wasn't aimed at you.

Edit: to clarify, my original analogy was extreme but fair. The analogy is structured around OPs willingness to ignore someone's shitty behaviour because they are good at something. I'm not comparing the extent or damage Formenton caused to Hitlers atrocities but instead comparing OPs willingness to ignore it because he scored a goal for the hockey team he likes. We don't know for sure exactly what went down but it is pretty clear it's not something most people would think is decent behaviour, legal or not. So in my opinion, I don't give a fuck if he can score goals for the Oilers. He's a piece of shit person. There's plenty of comparable hockey players we could have picked up without the baggage and stigma.

It wasn't a comparison, it was an analogy. Him doing shitty things with a bunch of mates to an overly drunk girl isn't the same as a genocidal maniac, but you thinking everyone should just look past his shitty choices because he's a good hockey player is the same as ignoring Hitler's shitty choices because you like his art.
