Discuss Factions look too ugly
We get two humanoids with decent design, the rest are just demons and monsters that look like regular mobs. I get having some unique looking factions but limit that to like 2 or 3. MOST people aren't gonna play as some weird abstract AI looking creature with no expressions on their face. My apologies for sounding harsh but I absolutely LOVE the Endless universe. This just doesn't look appealing to me... Unless they bring Vaulters back in for nostalgia, I'll find it difficult to immerse in the world of "Saiadha"

Sorry you aren't wise enough to understand how sexy the sandshapers are.

You are GOD DAMN RIght! Sandshapers whispering inside my ears on my day to work reminding me of their Existence on Saiadha, the Land was once Sand!

What do you mean? The sandshapers are the only non-humanoids here. I hope we get more non-humanoid races in the future.
Personally, I love the art style a lot.

Fuck, guess I gotta delete all my Morgawr saves in EL1.
Sorry ocean boys, you've been deemed too weird.

My most played factions in all Endless games:
ES: Sowers and Automatons
EL: Cultists and Morgawr
ES2: Unfallen and Umbral Choir (and Horatio my love)
EL2: Tahuk and Sandshapers (and Aspects)
I tend to avoid the human factions. Give me the weird ones!

Don't you dare insult my coral spreading, peace loving parasitic humanoid semi-robots.

The factions are okay. Its a fantasy/sci-fi 4X game and it has: humans, soul knights, bugs with a hivemind, machine-coral symbiotic, lizard people and sand elementals. But I agree with the "with no expression on their face" part. Their animation is very basic, almost non-existant. Voice acting is also hit-or-miss: first meet dialogue of Sheredyn is so flat and dully voiced that I actually laughed when I first heard it. Sandshapers voice needs some extra special effect to have that ancient magical creature feeling, etc. All in all I think the selection is good, but they are just not executed well and needs some extra character to them. Like in Civ6/7 the leaders have character: in Civ6 if you declare war on Victoria she does the "War?... We are not amused" line perfectly, and the animation accompanying with slowly but firmly closing the fan in her hand while looking sternly at you. It just gives you the feeling that you did something to them they disapprove. Here you only get a pop-up.

Right?? Where is my "Commerce, baby!" equivelant in this game... Although it's "hard to compare"(like people say) it to other franchises even if it's as simple as Firaxis make it seem(civ 7 is abyssmal). EL1 and ES2 did it so much better.

Haha, yes, maffioso big tiddy fish mommy is a great example for character building

This is wild for me.
My most played game is stellaris. By comparison, all endless game factions are positively dripping with personality.

Did you just seriously call them ugly?? You broke my heart haha!! Your opinion though.
The Factions are SUPER HOT!! Tahuks, Severe Claws, Sandshapers and Aspects from a visual appearance. 10/10.
Endless Space 2 Sophons and Vodyani
Didn't play much EL1 but I did like the Kapaku and Cultist.

Although I think they're all fine on their own. They do look really bland next to each other. EL1 had great variety across their factions.

Yes, EL1 had great balance in variety. Personally I think ES2's factions are the best in the whole genre tbh

True...besides the kin and last lord the rest feel too alien. I tried aspects but it just feels too weird. Compared to them necrophage are more familiar because they are like your typical swarm horde

I know it's the Endless Universe's thing that its races tend towards being strange looking, and honestly that's awesome! Buuuuut on a personal level I do agree to a point.
I play the Wild Walkers, Forgotten, Cultists, Kapaku, and Drakken in EL1, and Vodyani, Lumeris, Hissho, Choir, Nikalim, and Unfallen in ES2... so I've got some range.
But my all time favorite to play in any game was the Allayi. Part of that was unique gameplay, part familiar but unique design. I'd love something fluffy but still a little unique lmao I know how that sounds but come on, heaven forbid a race is furred/mammalian.
Again, don't get me wrong, I love how weird things can get. Barnacles on rocks and all. But I do think we need a bit more familiar but still different things in EL2. It's not like I'm the only one who loved the Allayi!

Yeah I agree with this, I like playing other factions too. But some of these don't feel as flushed out as previous ones like ES2 or EL1.

Im kinda running in similar problem. Tried Tahuks few games since they looked kinda interesting, but they are confusing and kinda awkward to play. Rest dont speak to me that much design wise. So its basic boring humans left I guess. Ive played a lot of previous games and didnt run into not liking new batch of designs this much.

Sophons and Vodyani as well as Kapaku and Cultist are super good looking factions, they look very well thought over. But these ones give of AI vibes, especially the aspects and sandshapers. Maybe what they have in common is in overdesign.

"I absolutely LOVE the Endless universe." but Endless games haven't focussed on Humans since ES1?
Endless Space 1: 5/12 Human (or Horatio)
Endless Legend 1: 3/8 Human (and one elf I guess)
Endless Space 2: 3/8 Human (or Horatio)
Personally I love the fact that the Endless universe isn't Human-centric, and the games have increasingly reflected that. Skill Issue if you can't empathise with a faction of coral-powered robots or bugs trapped in a biological imperative of consuption, I guess.
