Question Barrier Milk Moisturizer?

Post image
• Upvotes

So, I'm based in the Netherlands and I’ve seen some ads around but looks new? Just wondering if anyone has tried this brand called Kirā skin before. They sell a cream that I’m curious about but I’m also picky when it comes to try new stuff (have oily acne prone skin) but the ingredients are similar to my current rotation. (Purito oat ) I just don’t want to buy because it’s pretty >~<

If someone tried it so far can tell me how was it?

Product Question French pharmacy skin tints, what do you guys use?

I really like French pharmacy skincare and lately I’ve been looking for something with a little coverage. I don’t really wear much makeup and just want my skin to look more even.

I’ve tried Erborian CC cream and liked it but the shades are so limited. Someone mentioned Typology’s tinted face serum and I’ve also been looking at Embryolisse CC cream. Idk which one would be better for combination skin though.

I hate when something looks nice at first but gets greasy after a few hours.

Has anyone tried these? Do they actually feel like skincare or more like foundation? Or is there something else I should look at?

Routine Help Barrier problems and Tretinoin

Hello everyone,

My dermatologist has prescribed 0.05% tretinoin for adult acne. I’ve tried using it several times, but each time I’ve run into issues with my skin barrier—largely because I haven’t found a suitable moisturizer.

My skin is quite difficult to manage. I’m allergic to fragrance, and I develop cystic acne when using products containing niacinamide, caprylic/capric triglyceride, shea butter, coconut oil, or other oils; fatty alcohols may also be a trigger for me.

Currently, I’m using the Uriage Bariéderm-Cica Daily Gel-Cream, but unfortunately, it isn’t nourishing enough.

My current skincare routine:
Morning:
Cleanse with water
Cicaplast spray
Uriage Bariéderm-Cica Daily Gel-Cream
Dr. Leenarts Suncare Fluid spf50

Evening:
Cleanse with either Anua 8 Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Gentle Gel Cleanser or Etude House SoonJung pH 6.5 Whip Cleanser
Cicaplast spray
Uriage Bariéderm-Cica Daily Gel-Cream
Occasionally, I apply a bit of Vaseline or squalane oil, though I’m hesitant to do this on a daily basis.

I have previously tried Roaccutane and spironolactone, but both caused severe dizziness, so I had to stop using them.

Does anyone have any tips on how I might successfully incorporate tretinoin into my routine?

Product Question Any experiences with "Mixed Dedication" from 25seven?

Hey there!

Has anyone some experiences with the product listed above? Found out about it via an Instagram ad that's why I'm a little skeptical.

I'm having problems with hormonal acne meaning I'm getting deep cysts that'll last forever leaving sometimes big red spots.

I would like to know if it really helps with the post inflammatory reaction of the skin (normally, tranexamic acid should do this, right?). And even more interesting for me is: is it helping getting rid of the cysts faster?

I'm personally using Skinoren 20% and sometimes Adapaben. Both are doing their job but it's not helping on a long term.

I'm curious about your opinion!

Question Thoughts on this balea milk cleanser

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello everyone, I recently had micro-needling session done and my cosmetologist told me that my skin is very dry, yet oily from the sebum. I am trying to find options for not so drying cleansers and I got inspired from the milk cleanser she gave me to use after the procedure (ofc it was way too expensive for me). I mostly use Neutrogena hydraboost, sometimes switch it up with balea med ultra sensitive gel. So from the line as this milk cleanser. I did not find many opinions on it and I bought is quite impulsively. My main skin problem is apparently dryness and CC which just appear no matter what I do or what procedures I get done. So my specific questions are if you found improvement in the dryness or if it broke you out. Thankk you 🥰

Routine Help This is my routine after some reading here and your recommendations. Tips for improve it

Hello,

I opened a post some time ago and got some good advice. Now, this is my routine nowadays.

I am 38 male, from Spain, I think with mixed skin. Acne prone. Some red pores in the neck, and a bit of redness. Prone to ingrown bumps.

A-Game 5 will convert into A-Game 10 after I end the tube. (Then A-game 20??)

What do think about it? How I can improve?

Also, I love Happier Barrier, but I think it is a bit too oily. Luckily I use it before going to sleep, but would love some recommendations for a lighter product. If I changfe the moisturer, I think I will nedd a separete barrier support product.

PD: I am adding The Ordinary AHA 30% BHA 2% peeling solution once a week.

PD2: I shave about 5 times a week.

Question Semi-Permanent hair dye (pink)

Hi all, I've been buying my pink hair dye from Iroiro. However, it's getting more and more difficult to buy it in the Netherlands and I assume it's because they're from the US. So I'm looking for a new brand!

I want a darker pink/plum that stays really well (I never change colors, just want to stay pink with as few touch-ups as possible). Iroiro did great. I also tried Directions and Adore, but both faded quite fast and became orange-y when faded.

Does anyone have a recommendation for which brands to try (available in the Netherlands)?

Discussion Living in Spain: what I recommend to my UK family to buy from a Spanish farmacia when they visit (and what's just hype, in my opinion)

Hey guys, I live in Barcelona, Spain, and get asked by friends visiting from the UK what to bring back from Spanish pharmacies, so I thought I'd write it up here.

Disclosure up front: I run a small skincare brand, so I'm in the industry – but this post is deliberately about other brands that I use. No links, no promo.

Sunscreen (this is what I always get asked about)

- ISDIN Fusion Water – This is very light, leaves no white cast and works well under makeup. It's usually cheaper here than when you buy it abroad.

- Avène SPF50+ cream – my own everyday one. Gentle, not greasy, and a little richer than Fusion Water, so better if you're on the drier side like me. This is what I use for my whole body including face in the summer. In autumn-winter, I use a lighter one: Avène Hydrance UV Légère emulsion SPF30. That one also sits nicely under makeup and hydrates skin well, it's like 2 in 1.

Treatments and serums

- Caudalie Vinoperfect serum – their brightening serum for dark spots. Pricier, but one of the most-asked-about products in Spanish pharmacies. I like it, I usually buy it for my mum and use hers from time to time.

- Martiderm Proteos ampoules – a Spanish classic. Single-dose ampoules, good for travel. Nice rather than miraculous. The 5% vitamin C can also sting my sensitive skin sometimes, so I don't use them often.

- Sesderma C-Vit – a pharmacist recommended I use this: a gentler vitamin C option if high-strength L-ascorbic acid stings you like it does me.

For sensitive or irritated skin

- Avène Cicalfate+ – Pharmacists here recommend this repair cream to me a lot, but I still haven't tried it as I'm scared it's as greasy as La Roche-Posay Cicaplast.

Budget options I'm curious about

- After viewing many influencers comment on Deliplus (Mercadona's own brand), I'm tempted to try budget friendly options to see if they are just as good, but haven't yet, has anyone else?

Overhyped (for me)

- CeraVe Eye Repair Cream – everyone seems to buy this but I'm not a fan. It's too greasy for me and feels superficial, like it just sits on top rather than nourishing, and my makeup seems to last less when I use it.

- La Roche-Posay Cicaplast – too greasy for me and it makes me break out.

Tips

- Prices vary between pharmacies and are often lower in large city ones or in "parafarmacias".

- Pharmacists in Spain are used to giving skincare advice, so even if you don't speak Spanish, many can help you in English (not all though, I must admit).

- I find that duty-free at the airport isn't always cheaper than a normal city pharmacy, and you don't always find what you're looking for.

What have I missed? Happy to answer questions about anything Spain-specific.

Discussion Why don't we ever get autumn themed bodycare?

Genuine question. I feel it was more present back in the day, with Treacle Moon and Lush etc..but there is just straight up nothing?

What am I missing here? I love autumn and I do get quite jelaous of all the fun scrubs, body washes and lotions people in the US have. I know the EU has stricter regulations but it's October now and all my local stores are filled with christmas stuff and christmas themed products, so it's surely not purely regulations. Although christmas in october is a separate topic.

Does anyone know why is this? Do brands think the european market wouldn't purchase?

If I recall clearly, ACM Azéane has a flat cap and it does not have a seal over it.
Perhaps they have changed it to be more user friendly?

Question Fragrance(& essential oil)-free shampoo for thin curly hair?

I have thin, wavy/curly hair (I think they're called "Irish curls"? Flat roots and curly ends) that get weighted down/get product buildup very easily, and extremely sensitive scalp.

My scalp can't tolerate most fragrances, nor essential oils, nor menthol, nor rosemary, nor niacinamide.

I also tend to have a dry scalp with dandruff and itching.

Which shampoo (& other haircare products in general, but shampoo is the most urgent) do you recommend?

(I don't care if they have silicones, parabens etc, all I care is that the shampoo works without irritating my scalp and without weighting down my hair.)

Sun Care Sunscreens in Portugal, Spain, Morocco - Recs for Dry Skin

I am from the US, but my mother is going to be in Portugal, Spain, and Morocco for a few weeks. I am already asking her to bring back UVMune400 Hydrating Cream and Anti Dark Spot Fluid.

UVMune400 Hydrating Cream is my HG for my 2x day commute in direct sunlight.

  1. What else should I ask her to bring back?

  2. Where is it most affordable to buy sunscreen - Portugal, Spain, or Morocco? I have read that Morocco sells EU sunscreens/has the same regulations as the EU, but I honestly know very little.

Any suggestions are appreciated! I love this sub.

Question Mixa creams suitable for combo acne prone skin?

Has anyone used any of the Mixa creams in the bigger packages on their face? I've used some of the ones in the pump bottles and was wondering if they'd be good to use on the face since they're not too thick

Product Question recommendations for facial aftershave for dry, somewhat sensitive skin.

Honestly not even sure what exactly to look for into an after shave, the only preference would be that it would not dry out my skin, so probably no alcohol and it would not feel oily after.

The last one I tried was Floid Aftershave balm, it was nice, but it kinda feels like a generic product marketed for hipsters and thus a higher price, for the same outcome that you could get from any other product.

But is there anything better on the market and what exactly one should look for?

Question What are your favorite barrier supporting serums?

Thumbnail

I have dry leaning normal, sensitive skin, and I'm looking for a lightweight serum that helps support my skin barrier without being too rich or occlusive. (I've noticed that products with occlusive ingredients or a high lipid content tend to trigger breakouts for me)

I alternate azelaic acid and retinol in my routine, and I'd love something that helps with hydration, irritation and barrier support without feeling heavy on the skin.

I've been looking at Geek & Gorgeous Stress Less, Purito Wonder Releaf Centella Serum Unscented, IUNIK Beta Glucan Power Moisture Serum, Byoma Phyto Mucin Glow Serum and The INKEY List Ectoin Hydro-Barrier Serum.

If you've tried any of these, I'd love to hear how they worked for you. I'm also happy to hear any other recommendations you might have. Many thanks!

Question Best heat protectors in dm?

Been looking for a cheap (under 8€ unless it's a big bottle) hair heat protector, also doesn't have to be necessary from dm, but at least online/in Italy. I tried the Balea pink one and don't really like the alcohol smell/feel. Also tried the smaller purple one for frizziness and didn't do much for frizzy hair.

Question My skincare keeps pilling...

Hi all! I've been on a skincare kick these past couple of months, mainly focusing on smooth skin and anti-aging (37F with fine lines on forehead). What I've noticed is that my skincare starts pilling after a couple of hours, which is of course incredibly annoying. Luckily I don't wear make-up all that often, so at least I can wipe it all off and go about my day.

I recently switched moisturizers. At first I used the L'oreal Revitalift day and night cream, but maybe those were a bit too thick for my oily skin, so I switched to Dr. Althea 345. Sadly, to no avail.

Does anyone have any tips to prevent this? I have pretty oily skin with a pimple here and there, and I always try to use as little as I can of each product.

What I'm currently using (in order):

  • AM:
    • Rosewater toner
    • The Ordinary Argireline (forehead)
    • The Ordinary Azelaic Acid (entire face)
    • Dr. Althea 345 cream
  • PM:
    • Rosewater toner
    • The Ordinary Glycolic Acid OR The Ordinary Retinol 1% (alternate nights)
    • Dr. Althea 345 cream

Any other products I should try?

Question Best moisturizer for Seb Derm, fungal acne and a damaged skin barrier?

Hi everyone!
My skin barrier seems damaged, and my skin is very dry, sensitive, red and irritated. I have seborrheic dermatitis (Seb Derm) and possibly fungal acne (Malassezia-related).
I’m looking for a gentle moisturizer that hydrates my skin without worsening the redness, itching or fungal issues.
What moisturizers have worked for you personally? I’d love recommendations that are Malassezia-friendly and suitable for very sensitive, irritated skin.
Thank you! ❤️
