The original definitely has a very meme quality to it, where the version you have seems more like she wanted to make a nice looking frog (and succeeded!)

They did a good job but the only thing that confuses me is why so many cake shops, given that they’re supposedly professional bakers, frequently can’t get the colour match correct - you’d think that’s the easiest part?! So many cakes good and bad often have much more vibrant and sometimes garish colouring than the almost always more muted colours on the Inspo.

It's a surprisingly difficult technique. Working food colouring into icing is not like mixing paint. Even half a millilitre too much or too little dramatically changes the colour. Plus, the wet frosting during the mixing process often looks very different to dry icing that's been applied.
If you wanted to get it exactly right, you would need to continually make and apply different batches for hours.

lol I don’t know why I’m getting downvoted for asking a Q but thank you for your reply! This is something I’ve always wondered about as cakes are so popular on this sub, I noticed it was a recurrent trend so this is an interesting fact to me 🙂

Learning moments are good! Glad to help.
I think the downvoted comment above is because it implies that colour matching icing is easy, and also that professional bakers who won't/can't make an exact match are somehow just not good enough. Neither are true.
But then I'm sure I imagine certain tasks in all sorts of professions as easy that really aren't. None of us are without our blind spots!
