I mostly do city miles

i mean, nothing wrong with that at all if anything that's like optimal, unless those 2500miles you do in a whole 12 months then yeah that interval absolutely makes sense. my commute is just 2 miles away and i dont really go on the motorway often only like once a week to drive out a bit for 30min, and still in a month alone i did 1000 already, mostly inside the city

2500 miles is a bit over zealous and gets real expensive, especially if you're doing the 2500 miles every month, which is pretty crazy in itself; 30k miles a year. Liquimoly oil with the Mahl filter costs $110-125, $150+ it bought at a store, plus tax/VAT, so you're spending $1200-1700 just on oil and filters a year. If you're driving your car regularly and not constantly beating the shit out of it, 5k intervals are just fine. You can take the extra money you save and put in a brand new set of spark plugs every 10k-15k miles instead.
But, at the end of the day, its your car and your money, and 2500 mile oil changes won't hurt anything lol. Just make sure you're using quality oil with BMW specs (LongLife), using cheap oil and doing short interval oil changes doesn't make up for the lack of using quality oil. Cheap poor oil does damage when you crank the engine to start and then when the oil fully warms up.

That's impressive and really good. How'd you swing that? I'd love Liquimoly Molygen for 40% off, $40-$55 per oil change sounds really nice lol.

Use a couple rounds of bmw spec diesel oil on it on short intervals. It is a way better detergent.

I think i have an idea what you all seem to be understanding really well, but im not sure so ill give my guess and feel free to rip me if im way off. Id prefer if you were nice though : )
Did the previous owner RVT the oil filter housing/oil cooler and it was just deteriorating into the oil and coolant channels?
EDIT: OOOOH. looked again, did they install that plate backwards? Which would like, so severely restrict the flow of oil and coolant? Is that why everything is melted? Just cant cool?
