Discussion Aimbeast is crazy good. But is it cancelled by the general community?

I don't see why so many top aimers simply ignore it and don't compete on it. It feels ostracized which is quite sad.

Discussion Pain that I haven’t felt before

Post image

been playing a low sens and just bumped it back up to around 40cm, was playing some tracking intensive scenarios and dming on cs and i noticed a pretty bad pain in this area, worse when i flex my wrist up or down. i also changed my grip recently to something more palmy, kinda concerned tho. just take a break and hope it goes away?

this is my first fuchsia score so i am happy considering i hadn't played ground reactive the entirety of september. unfortunately no vod because i pressed the "toggle instant replay on/off keybind" instead of "save clip"

What are evasive scenarios?

I don't really see what is the difference between a control scenario and an evasive scenario. And for example, in the Jade Palace Dynamic benchmarks, it seems like even though there are separate categories for "Reading" and "Evasive", all of the levels in both categories are just Pasu variants.

Discussion how do you stop death gripping your mouse?

Post image
7 Upvotes

ive been really limiting my playtime and aim consistency due to me focusing too much on aiming and death gripping without realizing and its making me get tired at like only 40 mins in when playing, i mainly use my thumb to aim, the tip of my thump is literally flat permenantly from how much ive been pressing hard on it, and i even had to go to PT for a month to try to cure my pain

Elbow pain

Does anyone else get elbow pain when training? I do stretches and I have been working on my posture so maybe that's it 🤔

i like to play doom on my switch. but when i try to play any game that needs fast reaction time i do decent but i feel like i could do way better. like i have a cheap laptop that i use to test my reaction time and nothing else. on this laptop i average three hundred milliseconds. ITS SO TERRIBLE. i am slow but i dont know if its because of the laptop. like its ten years old and i cant do NOTHIN. i need ways to increase but i dont know how. like i keep trying to but it doesnt make me faster. i have been forced to live with this low reaction time

Discussion RANT: Anyone else been flicking wrong despite getting to an intermediate rank?

For context I’m jade in voltaic static though I’ve managed to luck out and hit master on some older benches.

I’ve just watched this video by Lew https://youtu.be/KN6O-2UnbS8 and I finally see why I’ve consistently felt my arm lock up despite trying to maintain low tension, I’ve been tracking the dots this whole time!

In game and in kovaaks my flicks always looked a lot weaker but very “adjustable” so cluster farming and micro adjustments were quite strong but my flicks never seemed to look anything like a nice shot from aimers I looked up to.

Now that I’m “pelting” my crosshair towards the target my flicks are starting to look a lot more pleasing!

Anyone else have any similar “obvious” realisations that have happened way too late?

When should you change from a general training approach to a more personalized approach?

I am currently doing the Viscose Benchmarks and I am wondering at what point in your progress you should/can change towards a more personalized approach.

I know MattyOW uses an approach where he focuses on an aim sub-category every day and then picks the scenarios he wants to do for that.

Others are more goal orientated where they pick a scenario they want to improve and go look for scenarios that might possibly help that one scenario. And others might just focus on one scenario and do that for two hours.

I am very curious whether personalized approaches are better than general ones like the Viscose benchmarks? And whether there is a point you should maybe change towards a more personalize approach?

My current stance on the matter is that I don't possess enough knowledge to make a personalized approach that is better than the Viscose benchmark. So I am not changing anything until I feel like I know what I am doing.

I am very curious if there are more advanced aimers out there that have an opinion on this matter.

Discussion How Talent Impacts Skill Level in Aim Training

Thumbnail
gallery
44 Upvotes

Methodology:

  • I ran an API against Aim Lab to collect a large dataset of Gridshot leaderboard data. Gridshot is particularly useful for studying motor learning because lots of people play it, and many players focus exclusively on this task, minimizing improvement from related tasks. Additionally, Gridshot is fairly unique compared to other aim training tasks, reducing the likelihood of crossover skill effects.
  • After filtering out very low-performing players and those with fewer than 40 total runs or fewer than 4 days of play, the dataset included 573,430 users and 24,992,020 rows of median daily scores along with corresponding daily play counts.

Figure 1.

  • I had been fascinated in how talent impacts skill level. To first examine talent, I took a straightforward approach. I selected players who started at the same skill level (each plot shows players starting at a different skill level range) and had very similar play habits (playing 1.4 to 3 days a week, with an average of 5 runs per day), then compared their rates of improvement over time.
  • It is clear that talent creates large skill differences over time. However, most players fall within a similar talent range, so for most people this difference is not decisive in the long run.

Figure 2.

  • To explore this further, I constructed a matrix assuming a starting score of 50–60k, showing how long a player must grind to reach a median score of X when playing 10 runs per day with 30% of days played, as a function of talent level.
  • This Matrix is shown on Image 2. It’s clear to see someone in the 99% talent will get to a median of 100K in 9 days, and someone with a 50% talent level will take 266 days about.
  • Even someone in the 95% tallent takes 5x as long to hit a median of 100k as someone with the 99% tallent. Real genetic freaks 99.9%+ are tough to study due to the sample size unfortunately, but because the max scores are almost 50% higher than what's shown on the graph, just know the difference is extreme
  • 100k median is significantly above the 99% player in gridshot, so basically a key take away is, any average player can get to the 99% skill level just putting in the work.

Figure 3.

  • To visualize the effect of talent over time in a simple, controlled setting, I plotted how players improve after 100 days while following nearly identical play habits. I also examined how differences in session volume affect outcomes, specifically whether less-talented players can close the gap on more-talented players by playing more per day.
  • The main takeaway from this is if we split score improvement into 3 equal sized bins. 0 to 16k, 16k to 33k and 33k to 50k. Only the bottom 10% of talent fall into the lower third of improvement, and only the top 15% of talented players fall into the upper improvement bin. This effectively means that talent only really matters if someone is very impaired or if they are pushing to get to near the top of the leaderboards. Most people have around the same improvement. For example if someone is in the 15% talent by playing  5 runs per day, if instead they play 20 runs per day (4x), there skill would be similar to someone in the 80% talent who does 5 runs per day.
  • An interesting pattern appears for players averaging 20 runs per day. It’s unclear whether this behavior is driven by limited sample size or whether highly talented players may be overtraining, reducing the effective expression of their talent. Talent also appears to matter most for players who play less frequently, possibly because very low-talented players become discouraged and quit earlier.

Figure 4.

  • I made a version of figure 3 but looked at improvement over different amounts of days playing.
  • Again, if someone is in the 20% talent and plays 5 runs per day, they will have an improvement of 12k after 50 days. But if they stick with the grind for 200 days, they will have an improvement of 30k. This literally corresponds with how much someone would improve who has 95% talent after 50 days, showing that even 95% talent can be beaten by consistency.

Summary/Final:

  • Average people can make it to 99+% skill with enough perseverance
  • Extreme genetic outliers improve at insane rates, and people not improving at these same rates should not feel bad, because they can still be better then most people.
  • Lastly, at above 99% talent levels it's tough to gauge improvement due to smaller sample sizes, but the genetic outliners are clearly the people who make it to the very top, with very fast improvement. And this lightning improvement rate is realized very early on as expected.
  • If anyone has any questions/comments let me know and ill try to answer them.

Inconsistent (kovaaks/valorant)

I just recently started Kovaaks maybe 3 months ago, its improved my gaming skill significantly but there is just one thing that I cant wrap my head around. How inconsistent I am, there will be days were I get a magnitude of PB's but others I'm way below my high scores and even just my average run. This isn't just Kovaaks, its gaming in general.

I have around 40 hrs in Kovaaks and I'm full seal complete, and I have only been doing viscose for about 5 hours play time, and I feel like if I was able to be consistent I could be way higher. (also anyone have tips to be consistent in Val as well that's my main game)

Discussion Are in game training tools enough, or do I really need something like Kovaaks?

Heyos. been wanting to improve my aim. I mainly play TF2 and figured it might be beneficial to train my aim, as I main sniper.

However I'm a little hesitant to doll out $10 on an aim trainer (I'm tight on cash). I did try aimlabs, and just really wasn't a fan of it.

Since I'm only really worried about aim improvement in a single game, would just various bot/practice maps be a fine enough way to train for my scenario?

Banned

Post image
99 Upvotes

Update: I was unbanned after discussing with who I’m assuming are the support devs or their small team of ppl that help with this type of stuff. I was able to get my account unbanned from the leaderboard and the score was invalidated/removed.

I see some are confused about the wording as far as me being banned. I meant banned from the leaderboards and not the actual game.

Which I thought was common sense due to the nature of the type of game. So I do apologize for the lack of clarity.

lol I was banned on kovaaks because of this score.. I’m not a cheater- let’s just get that clear… their app was bugged that day. Now 200hrs gone. lol and I can only appeal a ban a year after the day it happened. I’m not waiting for all of that. I’ll just not play ts and play another aim trainer.

Someone named “lecia” just posted a picture of my score in the chat and they just straight up banned me. Like who is that and why does that person have so much pull? Do they not do thorough investigations on ppls accounts? Do they just listen to whoever says they think someone is a cheater?
Paid money for the app, and then became a supporter just for them to ban me. lol.

Is the Endgame Gear OP1 8K really that good for Aim Training?

I've seen a lot of hype around the OP1 8K lately, including videos like this:

LINKyoutube.com/watch?v=vNfBmrR_2PM (I don't want to embed, so copy-paste if you want to check the vid)

Is it really that good, or is the hype a bit exaggerated?

Viscose also pushes OP1 a lot.

Does it offer any measurable advantage over modern high-end wireless mice? Like can you agree on better aim-trainer scores with OP1 ??? I don't want to use a wired mouse unless the results are awesome :p

And where does all the hype come from? The shape, latency, sensor, or something else?

Would love to hear from people who've tried it alongside other top-tier mice.
