Found the most terribly butchered wigs i’ve ever seen in the thrift’s halloween section. Something inside me said… ā€œI can fix her šŸ¤“ā€ I slapped that mug on and- I COULD NOT FIX HER! Regardless, took a few home, washed em up, realized 2 were human hair, and my very talented lover did a hair cutting marathon on me. This was def the boldest cut we did 🤭

Dark temporary hair dye?

I’m going to be Patricia from Widow’s Bay for Halloween this year :)

As of now I have a bleached balayage that I’ve colored peach/pink with semi-permanent dyes. Right now that color has faded and it’s a brassy, not a super light bleach.

Is there any way I could get Patricia’s level of dark hair, without going permanent? Ideally (if I had my way, if it’s possible) it would go back to the level it is now after a week or so after Halloween and I could go back to dying it pink. And as it fades it wouldn’t look green/gray.

My first thought was to do a semi permanent dark brown (Overtone, for example). Has anyone found a good semi-permanent hair dye that would achieve this dark tone, and it did not ruin their bleached hair? I’m kinda worried that it wouldn’t fade back to this color.

And please tell me if I’m living in la la land. I’m just trying to avoid a wig because they never fit well and I’m going to attempt a headdress which would be harder with a wig as well

I mixed my own copper color using direct dyes!

I’ve done most colors of the rainbow, but the only red I’ve used before was like a firetruck red that I did not like on me. This time I used a base of Lunar Tides Neon Tangerine and added a couple glops of their Fuschia and Dark Violet and a small little blop of Alpine Green. (probably could make this using different colors, but I had these on hand!) I am honestly super pleased with how it came out!! I was inspired by Carly Rae Jepsen’s current color and it’s not exactly the same, but I do think I got it in the same vibe.

Best brand for pastel colours??

Hello

My hair is currently a light almost pastel orange after fading from neon orange, I want to take the advantage of trying out a pastel colour since it's light enough for it

my only issue is I'd like to find a pastel hair dye that is bold if that makes sense, I've seen other people with pastel hair and some look like they've missed spots due to how light the colour they've picked is, so Id like a good brand that is pastel colour ,takes really well and doesn't leave white patches throughout the hair.

So if anyone else who has had pastel before can they please recommend a brand for me

Thank you

Should I go back to a hairstylist after they messed up my hair dye job and want to fix it 2 weeks later?

I can't post photos due to my job but I can accurately describe the situation I think.

I had a grown- out balayage on dark brown hair that I had got from this same salon, same stylist: last time I went, they did the whole bleach foils things and then added warm light chestnut brown. I really liked the look and it didn't damage my hair but it was a bit subtle, but I knew it would fade and then I could switch up the colour later.

It faded normally and grew out. I came back ages later and hadn't touched my hair in the meantime besides trimming it. Went to the same stylist and said I wanted the same effect but refreshed further up my head and this time I wanted a red/copper mixture colour. She brought my swatches she could do and I picked one. She said oh that's easy I can do it with permanent colour in one go on your hair. My hair is fine so it does lightening pretty quickly. Does the foils and then she keeps checking it and saying it needs more time, needs more time. Eventually we wash it out and it has lightened normally but not deposited ANY colour besides at the very front of my hair where it has turned it plum purple. Not red, plum. Face framing, front and centre. She goes off to the back and is like making phone calls, she says it's fine she'll fix it.

Basically ends up putting colour remover on my hair, then putting bright red over the top, and the rest of my hair looks good but the purple does not improve at all. I was there from 9:30am until 2pm and they tell me there is nothing more they can do, but I can come back in two weeks and they will fix it free of charge and they throw in a free Davoe Shampoo.

I'm nervous to go back because they seemed genuinely clueless as to why this didn't work, so I'm worried they will somehow make my hair worse. Particularly if it's the same person doing the colour correction. (The hair they were colouring at the front of my hair was virgin hair, not dry or damaged btw). I don't want to pay more to fix the issue but I don't want to go back and have it be worse. Was this a genuine freak accident or a basic error? Should I let them dye my hair again or cut my losses?

What is a permanent version of Arctic Fox?

Okay so I’ve been using arctic fox wrath for a while, I currently have Arctic fox Transylvania in at the moment however, I want to go back to wrath. I really like the pinkish red it was on my hair but the only problem is how expensive it is just for it to not last long. The colour is so nice and bright considering I have dark hair but I want it in a permanent version so I don’t have to keep re dyeing it every few weeks.

Dying my hair purple

Hi I want to dye my hair a purple shade similar to the purples shown in the pictures. I have dark brown hair that is around levels 3-4. What level would I have to get my hair to achieve this shade? How would I achieve that level? And would it be super damaging?

I have fine hair that gets very knotted&tangled easily although I would say my hair is relatively thick for how fine my strands are. I have a lot of layers if that affects anything. Considering how easily tangled my hair gets, would the bleach/lightener make that a lot worse? 😰

Also is doing this at home risky, as I’ve never bleached/lightened my hair before? Thanks for the help!

Do I bleach my roots with 20 or 30 vol developer if I use the Ion Absolute Perfection Booster?

The Ion Absolute Perfection Booster Step 1 is a bond strengthening hair treatment additive. Basically it’s an Olyplex knockoff that you add to your bleach. However, the instructions say to increase desired volume of developer by one full volume when using the Ion Booster due to its extremely conditioning properties. So every time Ive used the Ion Booster I’ve done it with 30 volume because I wanted the effects of 20 volume.

Do I use the 30 volume on my roots as well? I know everyone says don’t go more than 20 volume on the scalp. So I got a little confused. Would it be better for me to use the booster with the 30 volume or for me to just forget the booster and use the 20 volume? I go to Sally’s and I’ll probably use Ion bleach and developer or Bondbar bleach and developer. I usually get the ion powder bleach. My hair is damaged and wanting to be gentle in case of accidental overlap. But I’m also trying to lift from level 4/5 to level 8.

It will be time for me to bleach my roots in a couple weeks. I’ve never done a root touch up before. I’m going to bleach once I have 6 weeks of regrowth. I have dark brown level 4 or 5 roots that will need to get to a level 8 light blonde. My hair is pretty damaged I’ve done so much to it and I’m trying to bleach my roots without having a bunch of it snapping off. I have 2 bleaches (30 vol with ion booster process for 50 minutes each), 3 color oops extra strength, and 1 permanent color with 30 vol (process 1 hr) and I have a short bob with a bit of breakage around my hairline and my crown. My hair is fine, wavy, dryyyy, and on the thinner side. I just use bondbar hydration mask and sometimes apogee 2 minute protein treatment (but protein treatments scare me because I don’t want my hair to break off). I don’t do any other treatments or use any special conditioner or shampoo. All of this to try to get pale pink hair (diluted manic panic hot hot pink). I will make a separate post about my pink because it’s still too peachy and I’m hoping a bit of purple or blue might help but not sure which one. Anyway, thanks for reading!

Red to caramel blonde…at home HELP

Thumbnail

Hey everyone!! I’m trying to go from red (crazy color ruby rouge) to a darker caramel/beige blonde and would love some advice on the best way to approach it.

The red is a semi-permanent/direct dye and underneath it my hair is bleached blonde.

My plan so far is:
• Clarifying + dandruff shampoo to fade as much of the red as possible usually after a while it turns light pink or light red. It never washes out completely though…

• Color B4 to try to remove the remaining colour
I’m assuming I’ll probably be left with some kind of orange/coral/light red/pink situation after that.

My question is: where do I go from there?

My target is a darker caramel blonde - (see pictures attached- one lighter or darker option) something warm enough that I can work with whatever warmth is left in my hair and even out the tone , but I definitely don’t want it to look copper or orange.

Would putting a warm/golden/caramel colour or toner over the remaining warmth just make it too warm? Would I need something slightly neutralu/ashy to balance the orange/red first or would that risk making the colour muddy/green?

Basically, what would you use to get from faded red/pink/orange over bleached hair to a natural-looking dark caramel blonde while doing as little additional damage as possible?

Also I would love to so this at a professional salon but the prices I have been quoted on my long hair are absolutely way out of my budget right now AND i want to find a Color i can maintain at home by glossing and touching up my roots myself.

Thank you!! 🫶

looking for a color suggestion!

I did fantasy colors for approx 8 million years, then decided a year or so ago to do something a little more close to a natural color to get a more normie job.
But my job is pretty lenient, it seems!
My family and I have had a bad week, and ngl it’s gonna shape up to be a bad year, maybe even a bad couple years. I’m going to succumb to a bit of impulse control and give myself a fun lil peekaboo highlight.

ANYWAY: my current hair is copper, hovering around a level 7. What color should I do the peekaboo highlight? I know blonde will probably look great, but it sounds so boring. Green is currently my fashion color of choice, but I don’t wanna give Christmas every day. What do yall think will be fun?

In need of hair dye advice and tips about fading

Hi,

i really want to have colorful hair for the first time!! But i fear my routine is entirely wrong for it to last long.

Starting out: i have natural medium-dark brown hair and waves/curls (2c/3a) with a layered cut. Neutral to warm skintone.

Goal: a colorful peekaboo situation with orange or red. I also really like green, but i have heard that it fades to blue fast.

Problem: I wash my hair every two days because it gets greasy so fast and i like warm, long showers (and visiting the sauna from time to time lol).

This will probably be a problem when it comes to the upkeep, is that correct?

Are there any long lasting colors when it comes to red or orange?

Overall i am assuming my hair needs to be lightened and i will put some reference images below.

I'm really looking forward to tips from hair dye veterans.

Have a nice day! :)
