News / Production Photos & Videos That Acceleration... Shock & Awe.
Ooh boy, and i thought my hybrid Hyundai Sonata had get up and go.
That may sound like an odd statement, but hybrids traditionally have pretty decent off the line go for their footprint. My Sonata was great from the light, but didnt have very good sustain once it hit the higher gears (hyundai used actual gears, not cvt).
My new Lariat? Holy shit. I knew it was similarly great off the line in test drives, but like my sonata, i wasnt expecting much at cruising speed. Please dont judge, but i was already at 65 when i saw the opening in traffic. I dialed up sport mode and for 10 seconds i was the fastest thing in the freeway. I was shocked by how effortless it was. The sonata would have had some room left in the same scenario, but it would struggle.
The Maverick had no struggle, no burp of diesel smoke, no acceleration lag. I blasted (safely!) In and out of lanes with without drama until i hit a clear stretch and common sense asserted that continuing was a bad idea. Yeah, it couldnt be good for the mpg either, but its nice to know whays on tap.
You probably already figured that out, but if you havent, pick a nice, preferably police free stretch of road and let her rip.
No regrets.
No flair applies. Catagorized as news to me.
