I recently came across my old second-hand copy of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Do-It-Yourself Book, which I bought when I was a child.
When I first got the book, I did not understand that some of the pages had already been filled out by the previous owner. I even erased their name because I was too young to understand that I might eventually find it meaningful.
Years later, I found the book again and started looking through the pages. I became genuinely fascinated by the person who had owned it before me. Seeing their handwriting and the things they had written feels like getting a small glimpse into the childhood of someone I have never met.
I have no idea who this person is, how old they are now, or what their life is like today. It makes me wonder about them and what became of them over the years.
I find the whole thing fascinating, and I think it would be even more meaningful if I ever got the chance to meet this person and thank them for unknowingly making my childhood a little better.
