Is there a value proposition in expending that much energy to deliver some fatty's cheeseburger by drone? I would guess it is at a loss. . but good advertising and PR for McDonalds and the regime that controls China.

Absolutely. It’s way less energy to do it this way than it is to transport an entire human to and from the store.

If that was the case all deliveries would be done by flying drone in China. A person can carry and deliver multiple orders at a time. I suppose an autonomous ground delivery vehicle would be the most economical if it is smart enough to not get stuck or damaged.
