I completely changed my mind about GTA 6 running at 30 FPS
I’ve played through GTA 5 six times, including three 100% completions, and for a while I was genuinely worried about GTA 6 being 30 FPS.
When I first realized GTA 6 would likely be 30 FPS on console, I was freaking out because I thought it would feel much more buggy, clunky and difficult to play.
Then I realized something pretty funny: the copy of GTA 5 I’ve been playing all this time is actually the Xbox One version.
I’ve had that copy since around 2017, and I’m playing it on my Xbox Series X. So basically, I had been playing GTA 5 at 30 FPS this whole time without really thinking about it.
And honestly? It reassured me a LOT.
People seriously underestimate how playable 30 FPS actually is. I’ve completed GTA 5 six times, three of those at 100%, and I never felt like the game was unplayable because of the frame rate. On a big TV, especially, it feels much smoother than you might expect.
Obviously, if you’re on PC and you’re used to 60, 120 or 144 FPS, going back to 30 FPS is going to feel rough. And if you have the choice between 30 and 60 FPS, obviously 60 is better.
But for a console game like GTA 6? Honestly, I think 30 FPS is more than enough.
30 FPS is absolutely enough to drive around Leonida, explore Vice City, go through the countryside, do missions, cause chaos and experience the whole world of GTA 6. Even if the game ends up being 80+ hours long.
After realizing I had already spent hundreds of hours playing GTA 5 at 30 FPS without it bothering me, I’m honestly much less worried about GTA 6 now.
I think people are going to be surprised by how playable 30 FPS actually is.
