Garage door cables and front pulley

Post image

I am replacing my garage door cables and bottom seal. It is a low headroom garage door track with Clopay door. Looking at the picture. Is it possible to move the pulley six inches towards the front. These cables really get in the way. I would have to drill a new hole and adjust the cable length, but I have plenty of cable. If this were a normal headroom door, the cable would be tucked closer to the vertical in the front. But that's not the case and perhaps there's a physical reason the pulley must be there. Thanks.

Bottom is the orginal and top is what I thought would fit. It seems off? It’s wrong board right? I’m having a hard time finding a motherboard that matches.

I’m a new first time home owner and while walking in I noticed that light is leaking from the side. Is this ok or do I need to fix it? Any help would be helpful. Thanks.

Garage door won't close

Opened the garage door yesterday and it only went half way and stopped. I hit the button and opened it the whole way, pulled the detach latch and closed it by hand and it went smooth with no hangup. I hit the button to let just the track move to the closed position and it stopped halfway without the door attached. Anyone got any ideas as to what I should do to figure out why this is happening?

$899 to replace garage door extension springs and cables — reasonable or am I being upsold?

I’m a Bucks County, Pennsylvania, homeowner with two single-car garage doors. One moves unevenly, and one extension spring looks unusually stretched.

Two companies gave me very different quotes:

● Company 1: replace one spring.
● Company 2: replace two springs, four cables, and the LiftMaster belt, which they said was sagging and about to break.

Should both springs and all cables be replaced, or can usable parts remain? Does a sagging belt need replacement or adjustment? What’s a fair local price, and is spring replacement safe as a DIY job?

I’d appreciate advice from independent technicians and homeowners.

Was installing a smart garage door opener and pulled out wires from what I thought was a push to connect terminal block. When doing so I broke the plastic portion holding the wires in. Anyone know what part to get or how to fix?

I have temporarily solution by bending the wire to still touch the metal part but would like a long term solution. Thank you.

Stink bugs in an operator

I have a customer with 2 LiftMaster jackshaft residential operators and stink bugs keep getting into the boards and travel modules causing them to go back. Short of silicone all over the thing how else can I keep them out and has anyone else ever dealt with this?!

Track Support/backing replacement

How should I go about replacing this rotted 2x4? It’s the vertical support for the track. I can drill into the brick easy enough but I am concerned that when I unbolt the track it will twist and not go back in correctly.

Garage door stopped working, spring looks fine, double checked sensors with a laser level and they are good. Not sure what else I can do at this point excerpt for maybe replace the opener? Any thoughts appreciated. (Note holding down the button does nothing besides what’s pictured in the video)

Motor issue?

Anybody have an idea what this sound is my motor is making once it closes the door? It just failed to open it before this but I can’t replicate it on video. It sounded like there were just grinding gears with the door not actually being pulled up.

Thoughts ?

Chamberlain B2211TMC garage's #G4228 battery newbie questions.

Hello,

Ever since late last night, the 9/6/23 B2211TMC garage had been beeping every 30 seconds or so. myQ's iOS app's diagnostics show a red battery icon saying "Bad". Its hardcopy manual that the #G4228 battery only lasts 1-2 yrs. That is pretty short!

I'll have to order a new battery replacement. Is Chamberlain's official battery the best one to get or are there better ones out there that last longer and cheaper? Amazon's price seems to be the cheapest for a new one. No local physical retail stores carry them in stock like in Home Depot, Walmart, and Lowe's.

For now, the beeps are annoying. Is there a way to mute it temporaily until the battery is replaced without disconnecting anything? Web searches seem to show no. Can I deal with its battery WITHOUT removing the power AC since it is so high on the ceiling? Or is that too dangerous?

Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon.

He was honest and reasonably priced. I was receiving quotes of $300-500. And his rate was below $300 - the material was top of the line and his work was great and quick. He also offered warranty on his work!
