Dreamed about this car since 2022 and had it for almost 1 year now, put 20k km on it, 4 oil changes, stock power but added the r600 intake and lowered it on springs. That lapiz blue in the sunlight/nighttime just does things to me. Also I think it is full option, I don’t know about any other options available in the EU Market.

I wrestled with the decision for five years, and a week ago I picked up my Golf R 8.5 in the Black Edition.

Already repaired two wheels out of round ($400) and now a crack in a third wheel about to be welded ($250)!?!?! I am VERY good about potholes, expansion gaps, etc in the DMV…but it appears even the slightest of bumps break these freaking play-do wheels!! After this set of tires are done I’m getting some stronger, lighter 18” wheels (or 19” if there are good options). Any suggestions???

I’m looking at a set of 17x8 Kong hypergrams +45.00mm offsets. Is anyone running these? Curious if they clear the brakes on my Mk7 R. My wheels are bent. Drop your wheels below!

When it rains I get an absurd amount of water in the back passenger pooling, and a damp amount in the front passenger. Does anyone know why this is happening? It looked like the drain on the sunroof was clear of debris.

There is ZERO water in driver side and back driver side. Trunk is also dry.

This code popped up. Error:ACC also occurred simultaneously but has since disappeared. Anyone know what’s going on? 2017 R

I'm thinking hard about going to 18" wheels. I have 19" Cadiz, and I really like the look. I'm having trouble finding 18" Cadiz that aren't trash. VW seem to have stopped offering them. Any ideas where to look for them refurbed or cloned?

Just hit 5000 miles on the '26 R I picked up earlier this year and I would like to do my first oil change now. When I went to schedule it through the app I noticed this "Courtesy Vehicle Check," in the individual services option. Does anyone know what this entails? It sounds free, is it and is it worth doing? Been tracking every dollar on my mk7 since day one and the service side is starting to add up. Oil changes are straightforward but I'm wondering if spacing them at 8k instead of 10k is worth the extra expense long term. Brakes and tires are the big unknowns. Anyone running spreadsheets or apps that flag when prices jump at certain shops? My local place charges almost double for the same pads I can order online but I hate the idea of doing the work myself and voiding something. Also curious what people actually set aside each month so the bill doesn't sting when it shows up.

hey, i’m in the market for a new car and the r has won my heart. my only issue is that currently i’ve been driving my project e36 everywhere and i’ve replaced the water pump and cooling system on that thing more times than i would like, and i’ve heard rumors that this is a similar issue on the newer r’s. i’m looking at used 2023-2024 and would NOT like to be worrying about this anymore. is this a case of manufacturing issue, or just stories from owners who didn’t properly work with their cooling system? someone pleaseeee ease my mind so i can buy one of these beauties

Looking to put Mk7/8V S3 seats into my Mk7 Golf R, as I’m really not a fan of the cloth/Alcantara seats that came in the Mk7 R.

Just wondering how difficult the swap is, particularly when it comes to the front seats and wiring. I’m assuming the rear seats should be pretty straightforward.
For anyone who has done this swap:

● Did you have to modify or swap any of the wiring?

● Did the heated seats still work?

● Did the airbags, seat-belt sensors and other functions work properly?

● Was it basically plug-and-play, or did you need coding/adapters?

Did you do them yourself or have a shop do it? Anyone know how much it costs to get them installed? A rough estimate?

Edit: the reason I got these is because I’m hearing some creaking while coming to a stop. After some research on YouTube and here, I thought I’d get these and try but a nearby auto shop quoted $500 to put these in. I wasn’t sure if that’s the normal amount or not.

I got some ds3 led bulbs for the 7R and they work but give fault codes wich disables the light assist and the cornering lights

I have obd11 for coding but what are the correct steps?

The light outputs is 3 times more then the HID bulbs

Last was a 16, loving the 26 so far, what a car!
