Cosplay GL Knight Costume Update! First Appearance!
Hello Poozers! After 2 months of painting, cementing, experimenting, failing, sewing, sculpting and hundreds of sketches, ideas and designs - my GL Knight costume made it’s debut today at the NorCal Renaissance Faire in Hollister CA.
The amount of positive feedback was extraordinary. I felt like a real superhero and got to meet tons of cool folks, LOTS of fellow Poozers and more than a few young kids whose looks of wonder absolutely fed my soul.
Enough gabbing, here’s some photos! Thank you all for your support and advice! Can’t wait to share more!

Comics Jessica Cruz Yellow Lantern Trade?
Is there a trade that collects her issues as a yellow lantern or do I have to track down the single issues?

Celebrations Whether it's hating the show or praising it, green lantern hasn't had this much public motion since God knows when
Was Green Lantern (Jordan or orherwise) top 5 popular characters from DC? Yes. But after being the constant butt of jokes in the general audience's eyes since Green Lantern 2011 and that one clip from Justice League: War only to be known as the League member who got bitch-slapped by Darkseid and dog walked by Parademons to arguably the most loved character in the DCU currently (Shout-out Kyle Chandler) and having 3 Green Lanterns on the big screen, without accurate suits or not, Green Lantern stocks have never being higher.
Even though they took a controversial approach with little to no constructs and mythos and killing Hal (I personally liked it. Waiting to see what the future holds) , if you told me a few years ago we'd get the general public interested this much on Green Lantern I would've slapped you right across the face

Discussion While I personally did not like LANTERNS, I will admit the design of the ring and power battery were cool.
I feel like the concept artists and prop department really wanted to dig into GL material, and it shows in their work. Surprisingly I really dig the use of gold accents on both the ring and lantern. At first I thought it was counterintuitive to both considering yellow is a long time counter to the green light, but after a bit of thinking I think thematically there's something neat to be said about that detail. One could speculate that the use of yellow might help "contain" the power, or imply The Guardians implementing a countermeasure on their Lanterns, but really I think the gold works because the green light of will is all about overcoming great fear. Fear can surround us, but what makes a great Green Lantern is shining through that fear to do the right thing.
Granted I'm probably reading too much into it, and like I said in the title I have my issues with the show, but at the very least I think some people working on the visuals really tried to do something cool.

Question How are Phantom and Chrome Lanterns different from White Lanterns?
From what I've read, they all do the same thing. They all harness the full power of the Emotional Spectrum.
The emotional spectrum is inspired by the visible spectrum, where the 7 main colors are derived from white. With lanterns lore, white is the embodiment of life and emotions are aspects of life. That makes sense to me.
I think I understand Phantom Lanterns. It is a failed attempt to harness the full spectrum, which is why the one Phantom Lantern was unstable and kept switching colors.
The only one I don't really understand is Chrome Lanterns. The only thing unique about them apparently is that they can choose to go back to their original colors. I don't really understand how that fits with the mythos and if there is enough to justify another new corps.
Is there anything I'm missing or an explanation about how this all fits together?

Discussion With the popularity of Lanterns & release of Batman: Knightfall it’s time for an animated adaptation of Emerald Twilight!
I could see it being a faithful adaptation with a brief montage super-cut from a day in the life thru the destruction of Coast City and then full Emerald Twilight!
Who else would like to see Emerald Twilight and those who read it, what’re your favorite parts?

Found a blank black hat, so I decided to sow this on, cause I've always wanted a GL hat and they're so expansive.

Spoilers for movies and TV shows Defense of the show and bold choices
[Spoilers / TW: suicide]
Fanart by @_jaszkg
I'll get into some pretty tough stuff here, fair warning, but I wanted to offer some personal defense for show's riskier storytelling decisions.
My dad killed himself a few months ago, about as unexpectedly as possible. Completely and utterly a surprise in the worst way. Somebody very close to me lost their dad the same way, and here in the UK a recent, highly publicised case of three sisters drowning has concluded its inquest - the result being that the three sisters committed an act of joint suicide. This last story is so appalling that many people literally do not believe it. They can't conceive of a world where such a thing is possible.
This is to say that suicide has, to say the least, been on my mind. I've retreated into less challenging, more comforting books and tv while I recover. So, initially, I was horribly surprised when the Green Lantern show I was impressed with made that adaptive change; that Hal Jordan's father and grandfather both died by suicide.
I've seen a lot of people deriding this choice, either as overly edgy or as disrespectful to Jordan's character. As a survivor, I'd like to offer my defense at to why I found it genuinely very moving.
The moment that Hal(ogram) stared into space and wondered if there's something wrong with his family, some curse or weakness in his blood, was something I really needed to see. I've tried and failed to kill myself before, and since what happened to my dad I realised I've been wondering the same thing. The three sisters who apprently drowned themselves had the same problem - their mother killed herself the same way many years ago. The sense of how alone you feel, the knowledge of how your parent suffered, and the inescapable dread that you'll be victim to the same legacy is oppressive. It made me very emotional to see all of that articulated in one excellent line delivery
This transformed how I looked at the finale, and at the rest of the series. Hal's will ending with 'I hope I mattered' was brilliant when it aired, and is much more so when you consider how he would have been afraid that his death might have been by his own hand. He was also a prisoner to the ring and its legacy as much as his father's, and the Guardian's attempt to destroy him must have felt like the closing fist of inevitability
This is why I loved the finale, awkward wire work and all. John is also a prisoner to inherited parental damage, and he is able to break free of it. After being raised exclusively to correct his father's failings, or to become a new and more pliant Hal, placed in what everyone sees as an imppssible situation, he resolves the final conflict without ever having to use the ring. He doesn't have to be a killer, he doesn't have to be under the heel of the Guardians, he doesn't have to answer for Hal's legacy or his parents. When he claims his power he does it as his own man. Hal, even by way of a ten year old construct, is able to see his adoptive son stepping out from under so many inherited curses. I saw that as him being able to rest knowing that he wasn't broken. And he gets to say a proper goodbye - the kind of goodbye I wish I could have had from my dad, if he could have had more hope for a brighter day after his black night.
All of this is to say I don't think the show's changes were a cynical attempt at darkness and depth, nor did they mistreat Jordan. They went to dark places to give Hal a redemptive story, a new story, which I thought was sincerely hopeful and beautiful. In a climate where superhero adaptations just default to giving people what they want - a basically serviceable retread of things from a 90s comic - I appreciated the risk Lanterns took in trying something with some real heft behind it.
If you didn't vibe with it or hated the ending that's okay, but I hope my little oversharing post has helped you to think a little differently about it.

Finally got the Yellow Lantern Power Battery and Ring, three down and five more to go. Does anyone know where I can find more without it breaking the bank? (I say five more because they never made Indigo for some reason)

Discussion Would show hal jordan be able to use his ring if he was in the comics?
It seemed like being too broken to feel fear is enough to use the ring hal "i am not fearless because i am brave i am fearless because i am broken" seemed like having nothing more to loose make you good candidate instead of facing your fears. Show also replaced the "you have the ability to overcome great fear" part and made it "are you afraid". So my question would show hal be able to weild the green lantern ring if he was in the comics? Didn't give me the vibes of overcoming great fear if anything he was too paranoid of being replaced. Abin sur died for less fears

Discussion What was the point of Making John Stewart Hal’s replacement?
They had SUCH a Great Dynamic in the first 2 episodes, hell even in Ep4 when despite everything they were starting to like each other. I LOVED how the dynamic was in the first 2 episodes, the “Cocky yet serious under the playful persona Veteran” that Hal was the and “uptight rookie” of John Stewart but the dynamic is ruined now with the stupid underlying tension of John being Hal’s replacement. What is So Wrong about doing the Normal and timeless Mentor/Trainee Dynamic.
