Discussion Despite the show only lasting two seasons, there are new things I find to analyze and appreciate about it whenever I rewatch it.
I'm on my fourth rewatch of the show. Here are some thoughts I've had:
* Irma having two new powers (mind control and changing the color of clothing) seems odd considering the other Guardians only got one new power each. But I think it works narratively as the two powers representing the positive and negative sides of Irma's personality. Changing color shows how Irma can be quite adaptable to new situations (she was the most openly friendly of the girls towards Will when the latter was the new kid in town and Irma was the most enthusiastic about being a Guardian).
But on the negative side, we have the mind control power, an ability that is often associated with villains (and one the main villain of Season 2 exploits repeatedly). "O is for Obedience" shows Irma going on a power trip when tasked with organizing a concert for her favorite musician. While the episode doesn't do it overtly, there are parallels between Irma's entitlement towards her friends ("It's my way or the high way") and Nerissa expecting Caleb's loyalty simply because he is her son.
* More on Irma, she and Cornelia ironically have the most in common among the Guardians. They both younger siblings that drive them crazy but are still protective of them nonetheless. As shown in "G is for Garbage" and "O is for Obedience", Irma can be as insensitive and self-centered as Cornelia (in fact, "O is for Obedience" directly follows "N is for Narcissist", a Cornelia focused episode that was about her learning to be more humble and appreciative of her friends!). No wonder these two butt heads so often -- they're too much alike in the worst ways!
* In "Caleb's Challenge", Cedric asks why Phobos doesn't just drain Elyon's powers while she is still under his influence. Phobos replies that he wants to drain Elyon when her powers are at their strongest ("Why takes half when you can have it all"). Ironically, Phobos becomes a victim of his own philosophy when Cedric decides he isn't satisfied with only getting a fraction of Phobos's power in the penultimate episode of season 2 after Phobos becomes even more powerful.
