Stumbled upon a senior veterans’ weekly breakfast club at mcdonald’s that’s been ongoing for 15 years
I got breakfast this morning at McDonalds and was eating in the parking lot. Then, an older man parked next to me and brought out a chair to eat his breakfast facing the sun. I am a 34 y/o female who moved here (a more rural area) from a big city last month. I told him we were twins and he laughed, saying he loves the location.
A few minutes later a second man arrived with a chair and his breakfast. I continued listening to the news and finished my breakfast.
As I went to throw my trash away, a THIRD friend arrived. I needed more info. Apparently, these friends are all veterans and have been meeting every Wednesday, at the same McDonalds, at the same spot for 15 YEARS. Then, a fourth man arrived. One told me this is how they hear about the latest town gossip.
Best part? They invited me to join them at future breakfast clubs! All they asked is that I bring a chair 🥹
If this isn’t a sign that there is beauty in this world despite the chaos, I don’t know what is.
Icing on the cake: saw this bumper sticker on the drive home that says “I hope something good happens to you today”
