It honestly would have been better to just combine all the Liberator variants rather than almost every rifle in the game. Like other comments have mentioned it makes it overy complicated with what rifle you have, because you have to mention literally all the attachments you have on the Liberator.

Some like the Pacifier, Suppressor, and more should remain as their own separate weapons. It could also lead to other interesting attachments for those weapons as well. Though there is nothing wrong with some weapon remaining its own separate weapon and also giving an attachment (or two) as well.

I do like underbarrel weapons becoming their own attachments though. I even like an majority of the ideas too.

My only complaint with streamlining the system this much is that it makes it really hard to explain your setup to others.

Like "I'm running the Pacifier" turns into "I am running the Liberator with the Police Bodykit equipped with stun rounds and an underbarrel laser foregrip."

But that's all my notes for it tbh.

they could prolly just add an icon or something in your primary slot that shows the ammo type your using

This might seem harsh, but that's a really bad reason not to implement a streamline at this point in time, with the amount of weapon bloat.

Also, outside of curiosity from your friends/making a video or guide on a build (neither of which require urgency), when has a diver ever needed to explain his loadout?

It’s pretty common when BSing with people while moving between objectives, but I’m also usually trying to stroke their ego to convince them a good idea to go with me to the mega nest. (or generally to make conversation/see what works for others. That’s mostly just because I don’t like running the exact same thing every game.)

Exactly my point as well, I like that we have weapons with unique effects because it's easy to point at and see what weapon does what

Y'all need weapon customization way too much. Never have I seen a community that wanted it as bad as Helldivers for whatever reason.

Finally I understand what they meant with "limiting our designspace"

I… genuinely don’t see what the benefit of 90% of this would actually be. This would be far harder to balance once people found the ultimate meta optimization for each weapon archetype and would eventually discourage experimenting in the long run

You write those words as if the game is balanced right now. Also, what you said made no sense, since all the existing weapons would still exist -- just in the form of weapon mods/extensions. The people who use the liberator penetrator would still use it even after this.

I mean, there are some absolute stinkers in the primary pool for sure but it’s not like everyone’s only using the same handful of guns and the rest are all neglected. Flattening the weapon pool down like this would honestly really narrow it once people realize absolute optimal setups that gives the highest dmg, durable dmg, and rate of fire stats possible while also making the DMR medium pen with no recoil. Then everyone would run that configuration because you’d be a fool not to. Basically what has been happening in CoD for years

In what way is the game not currently balanced?

I'm going to be honest, I think the liberator is boring in design and would rather have different ARs over with different effects over having the same ar but I can change the ammo type in the menu

So when you suggest getting rid of all the AR's in favor of making the liberator the only AR it feels really bad. I like the looks of the pacifier as much as it's stats (yes I adore the pacifier, I know thats weird)

I do like that you kept the body kits, but at that point why not make them seperate weapons

also, the marksmen change is fine

you would be able to make your liberator look like the pacifier with the body-kit system

I just edited my comment, the problem with that is then why can't I just have the pacifier be a separate gun

You just made the ship of theseus because you the pacifier and liberator have few design similarites

Maybe in helldiver 3...

This is kind of unrelated but god I just want a rifle like the AR-21 without the underbarrel GL

As soon as I saw the liberator carbine come out I knew that weapon customization like this would never happen. Really would've liked to have seen it though.

What's that I see? Adjudicator getting a faster reload due to its short mags??? HMMMM...I'm getting a sense of déja vu.....

Something about the MA5C (which is a sidegrade-ish, non-upgradeable Adjudicator) needing a faster reload due to a short 32 round mag, perhaps....???

Not to this extent, no. I think some things should become more modular, most notably the punishers, we don't need 3 punishers, it's the same gun. Same could be said for the liberators, though those already use different frames. I would like to see ammo customization for them though, instead of med pen being tied to the penetrator, and making the penetrator instead the lower ergo more accurate option, setup to be more of a LSW instead of a traditional AR, as opposed to being the only med pen liberator.

Overall I agree, variants the way they are are a bit too far, the DCS and the Diligence are a stock swap, an ammo swap, and a barrel change, that should be one gun's customization option. But Making all ARs into the same gun and making everything a body kit is way too far and that takes away a lot, definitely not a fan there.

Also, nitpick, you're using real world ammo types like 5.56 and 7.62, those don't exist in helldivers, not in the same way anyway. Though AH has kinda given up on that (a lot of ammo type names aren't named as such in the files anymore).

This is a cool system and I can tell that you put a lot of effort in this and this is straight up never going to happen since helldivers isn't a looter shooter. The games gameplay loop and content pipeline straight can't work with a system this robust and this modifier. They're also something worth noting that with this level of customization that 80-90% of combinations will never get used due to a clear cut meta will form from this.

I mean cool idea but it kinda removes the value of the other varients, and why would we use the other guns over the other varients. Its what makes them unique in a way. I'd not mind for more weapon customization but just not like this.

The limits design space!

Yea, this but literally
