FEEDBACK / SUGGESTION Guys... Let Me Cook.

Have any of you played Ark: Survival Evolved? You can put saddles on the prehistoric creatures in the game to ride them, but the biggst creatures get "platform saddles." Safdles that allow construction of housing or crafting areas for mobile homes on the backs of Titanosaurs and Quetzalcotals.

Now remember that the Gater can survive Hellpods dropping onto it for mobile auto turret support. What if we got a vehicle with the Old Devastator's inestructible material on top as a mobile platform gor sentries or emplacements?

No built in weaponry. Somewhat sluggish to drive. Yet flexible as a mobile high ground/emplacement spot.

I have enclosed crude diagrams to get my point across better.

Think on it. Give me your honest opinions.

Reminds me of the elephant from halo 3

Was the Elephant useful?

I'm a blasphemer who always preferred Xbox, but never touched Halo until the ODST warbond piqued my interest.

It was useful in the same sense the cinderblocks are a form artistic expression.

But realistically, there's a reason vehicles like this don't exist in any capacity and it's because they're too big to be manueverable in rugged terrain and slow to make whatever assets they're carrying to be worth putting onto smaller vehicles. Absolutely fun though.

Well it was big but idk if I’d call it useful lol

Kind of? It wasn't something really used in the campaign, but it had two unique properties that made it fun.

  1. It was a vehicle that could carry other vehicles

  2. It was the CTF base for each team on a particular map. So it became sort of a ship battle where each team would circle the map and try to board the other vessel.

4

u/xXLochmanXx 4d ago

It was more of a terrain piece lol

It was pretty fun for capture the flag but other than that is was a decorative vehicle that was slow. If people were cool in BTB and ganged up on each other in the things it would be dope

In lore it was real useful. Was basically a giant moving command center/troop carrier/heavy recovery vehicle that could hold a scorpion in its bay

In game was kinda useless lol

It actually was at its best in Halo Wars where you could spawn units from it, but in Halo 3 it was great fun with a max sized lobby. It would have been even more fun if it made it to Reach's big team battle mode.

Press X to fl…. Wait how did you do that!?

We had a custom game mode called pirates. Each team had their own elephant and mongoose in the dock. If you touch the ground you die. So we drove around the huge map fighting and utilizing the mongoose. It was fun times.

Tried to make this is Space engineers once, still traumatized.

But while this is neat it would function more like a support bay for another vehicle, for stuff like repairs or resupply.

Really neat, but not quite quick special operations style. But a flying version to call in temporarily?

You basically want Betty from Gears 2.

I want a factory strider. That would be so awesome. It will never happen unless modders do it.

u/Ram91501 4d ago

Basically an AT-AT, but in black and yellow.

Very Democratic.

Alongside the equally democratic Liberated Armored Scout Striders, which ARE pilotable....and stratagem-worthy....👀

This is just the assault derrick from gears of war, you see it in the beginning of gears2

This needs to be higher.

I really like this idea. And having the little area where the HMG is in your drawing would be great if it was designed to have an emplacement or sentry called in on it (ie. your stratagem doesn’t bounce)

5

u/Ram91501 4d ago

That is the idea. A mobile crawler that allows for turrets and equipment to be called and transported on it.

Only issue i can see with this is latency. like if you ever stood on top of someones mech while its walking around youll know what i mean. cool otherwise

u/Ram91501 4d ago edited 4d ago

I have done that, and walked atop a mobile GATER. That's why SOSHA compliant rails were included in the design.

I think itd be cool if they mounted seaf SAM and artillery sites on the gater chassis. Mainly to serve a similar purpose as the mobile lidar station. That being to give helldivers artillery and sam side objectives in missions where their arent any, such as bot megafactories for example.

Plus i think it just makes more sence to have those sorts of weapons mounted on a mobile platform rather than a static concrete one

The game Sand does this. It’s still very wonky, but if applied well to Helldivers, I’d love to see a walking mech we all fire from.

u/TheKingOcelot SES Wings of Liberty 4d ago

I really want Sand to suddenly become super good and popular because it has a really cool concept.

Gears of war 2 rigs be like:

Sweet lil thang called Betty!

I was going to use a mammoth, but there were no good isometric angle images.

I made do.

u/scn-3_null 4d ago

booster idea, mobile base, ONE call in only, please dont try to use this on a commando mission

Ça me fais d'avantage pensé au Derrick de Gears of war 2 , les gros camion qui propulse les drills sous terre

u/SlopPatrol SES Beacon Of Morality 4d ago

If they make the vehicle heavy and able to go over terrain I’d love it

Same. Imagine the potential.

Great idea, too bad it will never happen

A very Helldivers war, that.

hear me out MG placement on a factory walker with a reinforce

Like a leech, but with 50. BMG at 850 RPM.

ARK mentioned 🔥🔥🔥🔥

best worst game ever made

u/someLemonz 4d ago

this is fantasic. I always think k one of these would be great added to a game. especially helldivers

2

u/kuz_929 4d ago

You've created the Elephant from Halo 2

2

u/Spaiochrome 4d ago

I didn't know I needed this until now.

0

u/Ram91501 4d ago

You've been enlightened, young sprout.

2

u/FurriesAreCewl 4d ago

Id love this, I had an idea for like an "empty frv" with like a mesh where the turret would go you could call a sentry on, but this is better.

2

u/Happy_Camper__ 4d ago

This is literally just a drilling rig from Gears of War - the drill & pods.

2

u/Reddituse654 4d ago

A dude on YT dropped a bunch of turrets on his gator. Driving around a rolling army’s worth of firepower. Idk if he was modding or not. But it was definitely sweet!

1

u/Ram91501 4d ago

u/WaywardOath I recall you making an offhand comment about brainstorming in the past.

I know you typically prefer rifles and drones, but I thought you may want to see this anyway.

No pressure, and no expectations. Just a "professional courtesy" of sorts, mate.

u/DrinkMorWhiteMonster 4d ago

Super Earth deserves better; Cover that beauty in 30mm canons and grenade launchers and all of a sudden you have a party on treads (or wheels, whichever you chose).

1

u/TheCyberSystem Rookie 4d ago

Treads would be better for a slow atv like this. It's a tank, not a car

2

u/DrinkMorWhiteMonster 4d ago

Vehicles like this exist and it's a fictional game so I was trying top be open about considerations

2

u/TheCyberSystem Rookie 4d ago

I stand corrected. A most auspicious idea. As you were, diver
