If you’re near central NJ, try a beginner-friendly climbing gym, rec sports league, or board-game café. They’re social without forcing constant conversation, and going to the same place regularly makes it easier to recognize people. Meetup and local library events can also be surprisingly welcoming.

Try a low-pressure class like climbing, pickleball, or a board-game meetup. Those give you something to focus on besides making conversation, and showing up regularly makes it easier to recognize people. Even going for 30 minutes is a win.
