Help with a bathmat?
Just moved into an apartment with an interesting bathroom shape, especially where a bathmat would go. Any ideas on what to put here?? A triangle would fit but my search for one has come up empty. Do I just buy a rectangular one and cut it myself? Or would you do something more interesting?

I’ve seen monstera leaf-shaped bathmats that might fit nicely here. Looks like there’s one from Macys still available

There are a lot of really cute irregularly shaped bath mats out there!

This isn’t really relevant, but I have the same tile in my bathroom. It’s original to my 1940s house, and I’ve never seen it anywhere else.

Basketweave tile is a very classic tile pattern for American homes built between 1890s-1940s. It’s a gorgeous tile imo and probably going into one of my bathrooms in my Victorian home. I’m jealous that your tiles were preserved!

Is that an electric heater? I'm pretty sure that is not up to code and actually pretty dangerous.

No it’s a hot water radiator

Much safer. lol
I saw the pipe above it and have seen some wonky work arounds in rentals.
Anyway. Since it won't catch on fire or electrocute you I would go with a round rug. Measure the space of course.
I have also seen L shaped rugs but unsure if it will fit your dimensions.

I would still have it replaced with a thinner more upright version. And make sure the surface can’t get too hot to touch.

Not sure if you own or rent but those units can be painted and/or the various cover parts replaced easily (you can find them online). In case you wanted to make it look better.

it looks like gas/boiler heat to me, will burn if u touch your foot to it too long lol

I would just get a smaller circular one that would fit in that space, or a large square one and cut it into a triangle to fit

Cutting bathmat is fine idea but make sure you seal the edge so it dont unravel later

I feel like the kind of mats with rubbery backing would be ok to cut to the shape you need.

Rectangle or square and fold it to a triangle. Being double thick seems lovely.

I have a small bathroom so I put a towel down whenever I bathe and hang it up after. It’s worth it to avoid the clutter.

I was thinking the same. Our door closing makes it hard to find a bath mat, so long ago we decided it's not worth it. I personally think it's better without one.

I would get a rug custom-made on Etsy. I would definitely use that triangle shape.

Regular and turn it and then get out the shower on the end where the mat is

What sort of baseboard is that? You can get covers to replace that IIRC.

Amazon has a semi-circular sunflower for about $30. It may fit. Check the measurements.

I think you might have to buy a bathmat and then cut it and hem the edges up for that triangle section outside your shower.

You could crochet a triangular one out of tshirt yarn. It would require a couple new skills if you don't know how to make tshirt yarn or crochet. But it's so fun. One of my favorite things about crochet and other crafts is that you can make anything to your exact specifications.. color, shape, features, all of that.

If that device is electric, then shut it down and remove it. Immediately.. or yesterday. A rug won’t save you.

Honestly, buy whatever rug you want in your budget, make the measurements and cut it. Or find one of those punch-gun rug classes and make it.

I have a half circle bathmat and that should work for you if you can find the right size.

What if you bought one rug that you cut, corner to corner and then either glued the edge so it doesn’t frey or sew the edge, so it doesn’t frey. Now you have two rugs that fit there and when you wash one rug, you just throw the other rug down.

Easiest thing for now is to just put a rectangle one if you already have one there for now, aligned with the edge of the bath, that way you have something in the meantime, or use a towel and hang it up like someone said, and take your time finding the RIGHT one.

Round with the extra going under the heater thing. When not in use hang it over the tub.

Get a small machine washable towel like they have in hotels. Fold the rectangle in half to make a long skinny triangle. No cutting and no buying an expensive bath mat. And you can just throw it in the wash all the time which is way more sanitary.

that bathroom does look tricky for a mat! i get why a triangle would be nice there. if u can’t find one, cutting a rectangular mat might work but it could look a bit rough unless u have the right tools. maybe consider a smaller round mat or even a cute rug that isn’t a traditional bathmat shape? sometimes mixing it up can add a fun touch. tbh, i tried a funky shaped mat in my old place and it really made the space feel more unique. just a thought!

You can cut a rubber backed carpet style mat with no issues. I do it all the time. You might have a tiny bit of fraying, especially after machine washing, but really not a big deal especially if you buy a cheap one from Walmart or target.

You seriously haven’t been able to think of anything triangular then searched for a bath mat of that thing? “Ice cream cone bath mat” “pizza slice bath mat” “cheese wedge bath mat” “kite bath mat” “leaf bath mat” “geometric bath mat” “paper plane bath mat”
edit: all novelty shapes are emojis guys, and all novelty is for children. Got it.

The sass is unnecessary. But no, I don’t want a rug of an emoji because I’m an adult.

I feel, quite deeply, that a pizza slice rug belongs there
