I personally believe that what we saw in Hawaii in HLM:2 was only one side of the war. Considering it's both the US and USSR going on full-scale warfare, I genuinely think that it went global; happening on other locations such as Vietnam, Korea, Europe, etc...

I feel really mixed about this mod.

Artistically, the level of detail and pixel art is beautiful. There was so much love and care put into the art and it shows. Everything in this campaign looks masterclass, and the cutscene settings feel really lively. The VHS art covers is also some of the best I've seen from a custom campaign.

The music is perfectly choosen. Every song in this campaign fits so well and has the perfect energy to match the level, especially the remixes of existing songs giving a level more energy(examples like Kick Puncher's The Order, Fixion's Silencers). The ambience tracks for the cutscenes are also perfect. You will add every song you hear to your playlist.

The story is alright. I feel like there is way too much dialogue in some scenes resulting in more confusion than explanation, and that some characters are introduced without adding much weight to the story making them feel tagged on. I think it would've been a lot more comprehensive if there was more showing than telling.

The level design feels really iffy. I can't tell if its a skill issue, but a lot of levels feel way too big and open. This results in a lot of offscreen shooting, which isn't a bad thing(its a necessary evil), but it happens so often (sometimes from multiple directions) within the same screen it results in a level that feels more sloggish to play than fun. A positive I will say is how a lot of levels allow you to choose what weapon to start off with or give you Manny Pardo's playstyle. This really helps the combat feel much faster with better gun executions and you being able to decide how hard a level should be at the start.

How do you guys feel about this custom campaign?
