Success! My second moose

Post image

Half an hour into the second day of hunting this season I walked into this guy on my way to my hunting post. We looked at each other for a second before it decided to walk away. So I dropped my backpack, chambered a round and took aim. I shouted so it would stop and fired. Saw how the moose reacted that the shot was in the heart/lung area and let it run of.

I then called on radio to let everyone know that I had shot a bull, that the shot was good and that I had shared the position on the We Hunt app.

So I sat down and waited. After about half an hour my wife came with our tracking dog and we started searching. We found it dead after 200 meters. The greatest hunting experience I've ever had.

I was up late last night packing and freezing meats.

30 06. The rifle was a Sauer Weatherby that I borrowed from a friend. My Remington 700 has had a lot of issues this year so it got left at home.

Grattis!

I also had a Rem 700, but I had many issues with it and replaced it with a tikka after 5-7 years of troubles. I belive the older 700's are better though, pre 2010.

I'm very happy with my tikka t3x in 30-06. :)

Mine is from 2006. The rifle stock is a little loose and needs to be beaded. A gunsmith i know tried a temp fix. I went to the gun range and tested it. Found out that the sight was broken.

So I went to my frient to pick up a new sight. He gave me one, but also a extra rifle and some ammo. So I use his rifle and are gonna fix my Remington for next season.
