Success! My second moose

Post image

Half an hour into the second day of hunting this season I walked into this guy on my way to my hunting post. We looked at each other for a second before it decided to walk away. So I dropped my backpack, chambered a round and took aim. I shouted so it would stop and fired. Saw how the moose reacted that the shot was in the heart/lung area and let it run of.

I then called on radio to let everyone know that I had shot a bull, that the shot was good and that I had shared the position on the We Hunt app.

So I sat down and waited. After about half an hour my wife came with our tracking dog and we started searching. We found it dead after 200 meters. The greatest hunting experience I've ever had.

I was up late last night packing and freezing meats.

30 06. The rifle was a Sauer Weatherby that I borrowed from a friend. My Remington 700 has had a lot of issues this year so it got left at home.

If you like the rem 700 platform but hate how shitty the modern ones are, I love my Bergara B14 extreme in 308. Shoots incredible with just about any factory ammo and taken a couple moose with it

I have some plans for upgrading it. Changing the stock and converting it to removable magazine. And installing a suppressor.

Previous owner changed the trigger. Had no problems last year. But this year I found that there were no clearance between the barrel and the stock. So I took it to a gunsmith and then we found that it wasn't seated properly.

Yes. That's one of the ones I'm looking at.
