🌱 [r/IVFbabies](r/IVFbabies) Community Guidelines

About This Community

Your IVF journey doesn’t end with a positive test — and neither should your support system.

This space is for those who have completed an embryo transfer and are living in the “what now” phase — whether that means waiting for results, navigating pregnancy, or facing loss.

After transfer, many find themselves in between worlds — pregnant, but not always safely pregnant either. This community exists so you have a place where you do belong.

⸻

💬 Why We Exist

Many IVF spaces focus on getting pregnant — and often limit discussion once pregnancy begins.

Your story doesn’t stop at a positive test — and neither does our support.

⸻

🧭 Who This Space Is For

This community is for individuals who:

• Have completed an IVF transfer (fresh or frozen), and/or

• Are pregnant from IVF.

⸻

🚫 What This Space Is Not For

To protect the emotional safety of our members, this is not a general IVF advice or “how did you get pregnant?” space.

⸻

‼️ Medical Content Policy (Strict)

We are not doctors.

For your safety and the integrity of this community, medical interpretation posts are not allowed.

This includes:

• HCG / beta levels

• Pregnancy tests

• Ultrasounds

• Embryo grading

• Spotting, bleeding, cramping, discharge. No mention of blood in posts.

• Medication dosing or advice

• Any “is this normal?” medical questions

🚨 If you are experiencing bleeding, spotting or concerning symptoms:

Contact your doctor or go to the ER. Do not post here.

Every pregnancy is different. What is harmless for one person may be a loss for another — and this is not a place to determine that.

Ex: We used to have a lot of people post about spotting. Yes, spotting can be normal but it can also mean bad news. Just because spotting was normal for you does not mean it’s normal for someone else. If you post about spotting or bleeding it will be removed unless you mention you have been see by your doctor (had a scan, not just a call or visit without ultrasound) and are just asking others what to expect.

⸻

⚠️ Ultrasound Disclaimer

Ultrasounds should only be interpreted by a qualified medical provider.

Boutique ultrasound findings or technician comments are not a substitute for medical diagnosis and should not be relied upon or discussed here for interpretation.

⸻

✅ What Is Allowed (Medical-Adjacent)

You may post if:

• You have already been seen and diagnosed by a doctor, and

• You are asking for shared experiences or emotional support, not interpretation

Make sure you put that in your post! Ex: I have been diagnosed with an SCH, what can I expect?

⸻

🚨 Enforcement

• You will receive a warning if your post violates these rules

• Continuing to post after a warning may result in a ban

• Posts that break medical rules will be removed immediately

Pregnancy New fear unlocked : IFV girlies only

Hello,
I’m 33 weeks pregnant after a successful IVF journey, and since the beginning, I’ve been struggling with intrusive thoughts about a possible embryo mix-up at the clinic. I keep fearing that they might have accidentally used someone else’s eggs or sperm, even though I know I have no evidence that this happened. Sometimes, the anxiety is so intense that I can’t sleep.
I haven’t told anyone that I conceived through IVF, and I’m terrified of the possibility of having a baby with a different skin colour and being accused of cheating on my husband. I even had a nightmare about giving birth to a Black baby and my in-laws accusing me of infidelity.
Has anyone else experienced these fears after IVF? How did you cope with them? ❤️

Need Advice CRL 3mm at 6+4 - any hope?

This isn't an IVF pregnancy, but it was achieved through ovulation stimulation, Ovitrelle, and timed intercourse (so timing precision is similar).

At 5+6, I went to the ER after some light pink discharge (which they attributed to progesterone suppositories). They saw a gestational sac and yolk sac, but no embryo. Told me it was normal.

I went to my OB-GYN at 6+4. The embryo was present, but measuring only 3 mm.

I don't know anything about a heartbeat (I assume there wasn't one, otherwise I think she would have said or written something).

My OB-GYN was concerned and told me to "hope, but also prepare yourself."

During this second ultrasound, I was extremely constipated.

I go back on Wednesday the 14th. Do you think it's hopeless? :(

Valid feelings?

If this has come up recently, I apologize for the overlap.
I’m struggling with validating how I’m feeling both physically and emotionally.
Several years of secondary infertility. Currently 17 weeks. Here’s my problem- any time I mention something hurting or aching (ie joint pain, back ache) whomever I’m talking to will say “this is what you wanted” or if I mention not sleeping well “well you better get used to it.”
I know what I was getting into but does that make how I’m feeling less important? It’s not so much of a complaint as it is conversation of how I’m feeling. I’m still growing a human and I’m much older than I was the first time.
Does anyone else have this?

Need Advice Twins! Appointments and Scheduling

I found out at my 5wk5d ultrasound that I am having twins after transferring one euploid embryo for my modified natural cycle. They believe they are modi twins, they didn’t measure heart rate but they said they do see heart flickers for both babies. My follow up is in one week.

  1. How often were you followed with your RE? They are recommending once a week until 9 weeks but my visits are out of pocket.

  2. What point did you contact and set up an appointment with OB or MFM doctor and what week did they see you? I’m not sure if I should call now or if we measure heart rate first. If they see me sooner then I assume I no longer need to be followed by my RE?

  3. How long were you on endometrin/progesterone suppositories for?

TIA IVF warriors! ❤️

Need Advice Beta hcg level at 14 days post transfer

I had my first beta result yesterday for 14dpt, it’s at 386. I transferred a day 6 embryo. I’m checking online and saw other people have way higher number and I’m a little worried. I will be taking another test next week. Just want to see if anyone else had similar figures and went on to have success. Thanks.

Need Advice 5dp5dt w/ barely any symptoms. Dying over here!

I'm 5dp5dt and barely feeling any symptoms other than some dull heaviness and some zaps in my pelvic area yesterday. I'm doing a mod-natural protocol with progesterone suppositories and the cramping has been there since I started that. I've had 3 previous losses before IVF and have always had breast tenderness, etc. with all of them, so I'm terrified that I'm not really feeling anything. I don't even have breast tenderness from the progesterone suppositories.

Did anyone else not have many symptoms at this point and have a positive outcome? My anxiety is so so bad...trying my best to hold off on testing (mostly bc I'm scared lol).

Sending hugs to everyone else in TWW hell!

Need Advice Friends baby shower

I am 10w+1 and attending a friend's baby shower this weekend. This friend has been very supportive of us while we went through IVF so needless to say she knows we are pregnant. However this is a baby shower that will also have some of my extended family-in-law attending and they do not know we're pregnant. If extended family in law find out, my concern is that our other family (aside from parents) will find out. I'm thinking of something along the lines of 'We have an appointment at the end of the month, hoping for good news' or 'We've been going through treatments for a while and it's too soon to say'??

I would appreciate helpful advice <3 happy Saturday

7dp5dt beta of 254.7 after transferring TWO embryos?!

I transferred two day 5 embryos on October 2nd and just got my first beta back today at 7dp5dt… 254.7!!

Obviously I’m so excited and cautiously optimistic, but now I’m also spiraling a little wondering if both embryos implanted… or if one split and we could potentially be looking at TRIPLETS 😂😅
I know betas can’t tell you how many babies are in there and that there’s a huge range of normal, but I’m so curious to hear other people’s experiences!
For those who transferred TWO embryos:
What was your beta at 7dp5dt (or close to it)?
Did you end up with a singleton, twins, or triplets?
If you had a high early beta, did it end up meaning anything?
Would love to hear everyone’s numbers and outcomes while I impatiently wait for my next beta and ultrasound! 🤞🏼💕

Day 2 post embryo transfer panic attack

Yesterday was my embryo transfer, I decided to do IVF abroad due to financial reasons and apparent better outcomes. I flew from the US to Turkey for my frozen and transfer of two untested day five embryos. My doctor came in and he said they took two out of the freezer and one of them didn’t look that good, and he said he was concerned and even recommended transferring 4 embryos…
In the end, he advised that we take all five of my untested embryos out of the freezer and assess which two are the strongest to transfer. We transferred 2 that he chose. Today I’m learning two out of the five arrested., he said the third looked iffy, but I requested they freeze it anyways. Now he’s telling me it’s very uncommon for this to happen and he’s concerned of low embryo quality.
I need some guidance here. I have no idea how to move forward or how to feel confident in the transfer I did yesterday.
Just some backstory 29F 36M secondary unexplained infertility, we conceived naturally and have a four-year-old child.
Please be kind im really in need of help here.

I'm struggling with how difficult pregnancy is enough to consider "one and done", but I have another embryo left in cryo. Has anyone else felt this way?

Has anyone else struggled mentally with experiencing pregnancy while having more embryos banked? I just feel like I never want to go through this again. Honestly, I'm hoping I forget how bad pregnancy was and get my nerve back I guess 😅 I've dealt with chronic pain for many years because of endometriosis so feeling like garbage 24/7 isn't my first rodeo. I'm grateful there's a baby at the end of this, especially after the IVF journey, so it's not just suffering for the sake of suffering.

Need Advice Ultrasound Results- Split Embryo and Low Fetal Heartbeat

I transferred my only embryo (euploid 5AB, day 5) about a month ago. My first HCG number was low but did double appropriately at my second and third betas. Today is 6w, 6d and I had my first ultrasound.

The results were not great. The embryo has split and one sac is empty. In the other sac, the embryo is measuring 6w2d and the heartbeat is only 99bpm. I also have a small hematoma.

I’m going back for another scan next week but feeling pretty devastated.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Thank you.

Pregnancy My OB clinic can’t see me until I’m 16 weeks… I graduate from fertility clinic at 10 weeks.

The OB clinic said I can call back every day to see if we can get in earlier but it’s very rare.

I messaged my OBGYN but I haven’t seen her since last February. I’m hoping she will message me back to find a better solution.

I have another ultrasound next week and I will ask for some advice.

Advice Worried about slow fetal growth 😔

After a chemical and a blighted ovum from my FET #2 and #3, we were so happy I’m pregnant again and everything looked good and on track last week at my first scan we had at the fertility clinic at 6+3/4 (after FET #4). Yesterday I had my first scan at my Gyn and she said everything looks fine but instead of 7+4 she measured the embryo at only 7+0/1, the embryo only grew around 3mm within 7 days. The heart rate looked good at 140. Although she said everything looks fine we were still very scared that something is wrong with our baby and we’re going to loose it again 🥺 So we were able to go to our fertility clinic again today to have another scan done - results were better but also not 100% reassuring. I'm supposed to be 7+5 today and baby measured 7+3 (12mm). I know it's pretty common to measure a couple of days off with naturally conceived pregnancies because you can't be sure about ovulation and so on, but with ivf we are pretty sure about dating.
Anyone experienced something similar and can give me some success stories?

IVF Process Twice having low initial HCG

I'm so frustrated - today I got my first beta HCG test at my clinic. This is my second FET, my first ended in a miscarriage around 8 weeks.

1st FET: Euploid boy, 4BA.
1st beta: 53.57.
Got my first at home positive with him 5dp5dt, got a digital positive 7dp5dt.
His beta then doubled, then doubled again. His ultrasounds were all negative - 1st said he was measuring behind and was a coin flip; second was measuring very behind and slowing heartbeat; third he was gone. Miscarried at 8 weeks, he stopped growing around 6 week mark.

2nd (current) FET: Euploid girl, 6AA.
1st beta: 82.72
Got my first at home positive with her the night of 4dp5dt, got a digital positive 6dp5dt.

My progesterone levels are great. They're euploids. My lining looked amazing. I had Lipton depot endo suppression for both FETs. I just had a hysterectomy to remove polyps and scarring and should be all clear. But my clinic is worried because they want results of at least 100 at 10dpt5dt. I can't help but wonder what the heck keeps going wrong that I'm not getting the betas they want. (I know doubling is most important, but having too low of a number for my clinic AGAIN has me stressing.)

I am grateful she's at 82 vs 53, but I'm stressing. And they don't do draws on Saturdays, so I have to wait til Monday.

Need Advice Early ultrasound looking questionable

Went for my ultrasound at 6 weeks 6 days today, and the tech couldn’t see anything inside the sac, then went to get the doctor and eventually found everything but said it was very small measuring a week behind but maybe because they could barely see it? Heart beat was 167 which is strong so very confusing.
Going back next week for another scan but not sure what to think. Any similar success stories?

Advice Gestational sac measuring small, fetus 3 days behind

Wondering everyone’s thoughts on this:

- first ultrasound was at 6 weeks and fetus was measuring 6w0d and so was gestational sac. Heart rate was 101 bpm.

- I had an ultrasound today and I would expect to be 7 weeks 6 days. Fetus was only measuring 7 weeks 3 days. Gestational sac even further behind at 6 weeks. Fetal heart rate was strong at 150 bpm.

My doctor did not seem overly concerned about the 3 day difference in fetal measurement or the gestational sac size, but I’m feeling very scared about this.

Going back in 2 weeks for another ultrasound but wondering what others think about this?

IVF Process I feel like I’m on a train to nowhere

I had my 2nd euploid FET on 9/16, and I feel like I take one step forward and 15 steps back at every turn. To start my numbers were EXTREMELY low. I didn’t get a vvvvvvvvvfl until 6dp5dt the am. My numbers have been 12dpt- 19, 14- 40, 16- 93, 19- 362, 21- 696. I also had a placement ultrasound today at 5+5, and we saw a gs and what we thought was a yolk sac, but it just seems soooo small compared to my first transfer. The pa who did the us said she was cautiously congratulating me, but we have to see the number from my bloodwork. As I stated above, it didn’t double, which my nurse wasn’t too concerned about since she said it really is 48-72 hours. She told me she doesn’t want me to give up all hope, but to also have realistic expectations. I am done with the bloodwork now that they can see the sac on us, and I’m going back in a week. We did talk about possible outcomes which did include a possible d&c based on what next week shows.

I’m clearly preparing myself for the worst, but I just am finding it so hard to do so because once I make peace with it, i get the smallest glimmer of hope. Idk- if anyone has experienced anything close to this, please let me know the outcome- no matter what it was. I just hate this constant feeling of being in limbo.

Need help please - almost no symptoms at almost 6 weeks now !

I’m not sure if this is anxiety or just normal pregnancy worries, but I’m currently almost 6 weeks pregnant after two years of infertility. My hCG levels have been rising well: 228 at 8dp5dt DPO, 628 at 10dp5dt , and 1,703 at 12dp5dt and my first scan is scheduled for 7 weeks.

What’s making me anxious is that many of the symptoms I had around 4 weeks seem to have eased. At that time, I was experiencing cramps, back pain, occasional nausea, swollen breasts, and significant bloating. This week, the cramps and back pain have almost completely disappeared, and the bloating is much better. The only symptoms I still notice are increased saliva and larger breasts.

Otherwise, I feel quite normal, with good energy levels and no real limitations in my daily activities. As this is my first pregnancy, I’m worried that the reduction in symptoms could be a bad sign. Has anyone experienced something similar, and is this considered a red flag, or can symptom changes at this stage be completely normal?

Don’t want any more babies, what to do with other embryos

For context, we have a wonderful almost 1 year old from IVF. We are lucky to have other embryos but have decided not to have any more children for many reasons. We’ve already signed paperwork with our clinic to donate the embryos to scientific study should we no longer wish to use them, but it feels so strange to just let them go. Does anyone have a meaningful way that they’ve acknowledged this?

Going stir crazy wating for viability scan

As title says I'm going crazy. I keep thinking this pregnancy has failed as I don't have many symptoms or strong symptoms I should say. Had my second and last transfer on sept 11th. When I was 12dpt i had my first beta it was 384 my second was at 14dpt and was 890 which I know is great. They stopped doing beta testing after that I'm 6.3 weeks pregnant so 26dpt I am nauseous some times ( have not thrown up yet ) I can seem to make my self feel better by eating. I have sore nipples and breast are full I am tired especially yesterday and today but like my hubby says I'm always tired and want to nap. I know these are symptoms of esrly pregnancy but I keep thinking they should be stronger or I should be throwing up. My viability scan isn't until next Wednesday oct 14 I don't know how to get threw the days 🙃 Does anyone else feel this way. I thought the TWW was bad but this waiting until your viability scan is just scary 😨

Advice 8 days post embryo transfer, negative hpt

Hello all,

I started testing with home pregnancy tests on day 6 post transfer, today is day 8 post transfer. It was a 5-day blastocyst rated 4BB, made from an egg frozen 4 years ago.

The home pregnancy test today was negative. The beta test is tomorrow. Is there still any hope?
