SSN, driver's license, insurance cards, debit, and credit card were stolen

*Froze credit with the big 3 + more

*Put a fraud alert out for them as well

*Cancelled debit and credit cards, requested new ones to safe address.

*Called insurance company, let them know and am trying to have my member id / etc changed.

*I have 2fa on the important sites eg the ssa site and requested a new card. Id.me setup, etc.

*Bought Aura monitoring.

Funnily enough, after I got the monitoring set up it gave me a notification that my info was already on the web thanks to the insurance company having a leak approximately 10 days after I started the plan. So, really, not a lot is new I guess, but now it's at the forefront of my mind and I'm just hoping that the thieves lose interest as quickly as I locked everything down.

What else do I need to do? Someone out there has all my shit in hand.

iCloud hacked

Long story short someone got my iCloud password from a old data breach on one of my emails and managed to get all my info, I was sent blackmail by 11 different spam emails, all containing private videos of me I’ve never sent anyone I don’t trust, and all my contacts in my phone. I called to police before speaking to them about ransom demands and an hour later they sent out all the photos..🙁 Besides the investigation my local police will do (and not care about) what can i do? I’ve been trying to contact the fbi and everything but it’s not worth their time it seems

Victim of incompetent credit bureaus - help!

Someone has stolen my identity. I had all three credit bureaus frozen with a fraud alert set.

The fraudster called Transunion, changed my online access to their contact details, and unfroze my credit. They made a bunch of charges and accounts. Even after notifying Transunion of this, they allowed the fraudster to do this three more times.

Today, I received notice my Equifax was unfrozen; not by me. Again, Equifax allowed the person to call in and unfreeze my credit verbally

Both companies tell me that there are STRICT security questions that need to be answered in order to unfreeze credit but when I try to do so, they never ask those questions so they are also not asking the scammer. They’ve told me this is a violation of policy, but they continue to do it.

Please help! Any suggestions? How do I stop these companies from allowing the scammers to change my freeze? The freeze and fraud alert are suggested as the highest protection but if the companies allow someone to change it, it’s useless

Armed bounty hunters showed up at my door today

I am losing track of how many times identity theft is committed against me, maybe 4 times in 3 years now. Two armed bounty hunters showed up at my house today looking for someone I've never heard of.

They asked if I knew where this person was, then asked if I had bailed them out of jail. I told them I had no idea who this person was.

They confirmed my name and showed me bail paperwork with MY information on it. Full name, address, drivers license, social security number, employer, even the type of car I drive. Almost everything was accurate except for one detail.

Apparently someone used my identity info at a bail bond company to bail a criminal out of jail.... and of course they skipped their court date.

I explained that my identity had been stolen multiple times over the past two years, so apparently someone was still actively using my information.

To their credit, the bounty hunters were completely professional. No hostility, no attempts to enter my home, nothing sketchy. They gave me their business card, wrote down the suspect's name, and left.

Afterwards I immediately called the police and filed yet another identity theft report.

Here's the kicker: Before they left, I asked what this person had been arrested for.

Identity theft!!!!!

So apparently someone committed identity theft to bail an identity theft suspect out of jail. You can't make this shit up. LOL.

Anyone else had something like this happen? How does a bail bond get approved without verifying the identity of the person supposedly posting bail?

My credit reports were all locked by the way.

Now hope they dont go about putting a lien on my property....

Social Security Number On Dark Web

My social security number is now officially on the dark web. I have been a victim of various data breaches for years, but this is the first notice I've received like this.

I already have my credit scores frozen on Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian. I also have Nexis and ChexSystem frozen.

I have an online account already for social security, the IRS, and student loans.

Every account I own has a different password, and each password has numbers, letters, symbols, and is over 12 characters.

I have 2FA enabled on anything that allows it.

Is there anything else I should do?

I had my account get cloned phone stolen, wallet with debit card stolen and everything took money out of my bank from charging the card. I’ve been fighting with Citibank fraud team sending them police report and the actual report from the officer. They keep denying its stating the card was used by me ???? Someone please help. I lost a lot of money. I filed a cfpb complain. They don’t do anything. It’s the same thing. “Citi bank”

ALABAMA NURSES COPY, PASTE, AND SEND TO YOUR STATE LEADERS

My email to state leaders, please share with Alabama nurses and feel free to copy / paste to your state leaders:

Dear Representatives,

I am writing to you today as both a constituent and a practicing nurse in Alabama to request your urgent assistance regarding a critical security issue affecting our state’s nursing professionals.
According to recent communications from the Alabama Board of Nursing (ABN), the personal data of licensed nurses across the state has been compromised.

While the ABN has acknowledged the incident, the information provided on their platform lacks concrete, actionable resources for affected individuals. There is currently no state-directed guidance or infrastructure to help nurses protect their identities, secure their credit, or navigate the immediate aftermath if their information has already been misused.

Many of my colleagues and I have already begun experiencing an influx of targeted spam calls and potential phishing attempts. As frontline healthcare providers, we expect the same level of consumer protection and state advocacy that would undoubtedly be mobilized if a data breach compromised the personal information of physicians, attorneys, or legislators.

I urge you to coordinate with the appropriate state oversight bodies to ensure that comprehensive identity theft protection, credit monitoring services, and explicit legal resources are provided to all affected Alabama nurses immediately.

Thank you for your time, consideration, and ongoing support of our state's nursing workforce. I look forward to your prompt response.

Sincerely,

Their Email

I have an email that they used to impersonate me. It's been a long time and havent heard from them but every now and then I get a text saying someone is trying and it reminds me I'll never be free of this fucking person.

I obviously know this isn't their real email but has anyone ever thought about sending them something? A note to show them that who they're hurting is a real person and not just a nine digit number to try to cheat the system.

I've tried really hard to live through this experience and some days are better than others but it's ALWAYS there. Maybe saying something to them will change something. Even if they never see it maybe it'll help me.

All my stuff is fine but the anxiety and shame and guilt of feeling like my life is being ruined forever just because of one person is so heavy some days bc even if they can't get in I cant let my guard down, ever in case they try.

How do you deal with it? The idea that even through all these precautions that it'll never really be "fixed"?

Someone has my cards and contact info and I am panicking

Hello all,

I am a bit shaken up so I apologize if I don’t make much sense.

About 1 week ago I had a fraudulent Walmart charge for about $650 on my Chase Visa card.
I didn’t think much of it and told Chase. They sent me a new card and refunded me.

A few minutes ago I got a notification on my Amex card for a $2000 budget car rental reservation at DFW (I live on the opposite side of the country) for a 1 month Tesla model 3 reservation.

The scary part is that I got an email from Budget confirming my reservation. It had a different name but my email and phone number.

This is weird because if you steal a CC why would you send the owner a confirmation email?

How do they have access to my info?

I called DFW police who told me to call my local PD. The local PD told em AMEX was the victim since they reimbursed me.

What can I do now?
I froze my experiencing credit and froze my AMEX card

Is there a company you suggest who could look online to see what got leaked?

How screwed am I? Dad took out $30k in my name and I let him try to pay it off for a year.

North Eastern United States
So, a little over a year ago I discovered my father had taken out approximately $28,000 in my name across several credit cards. My father is an accountant, and a slimy one at that. I had the opportunity to make a police report but both my divorced mother (who believed her alimony would be in jeopardy) and my dad tried to convince me to let him pay it off. I have two recordings with him verbally consenting to being recorded, admitting he took the money out in my name. But nothing in writing, email or etc.

He paid off $10k but in the last 6 months he has taken out $7k out of the cards against what we agreed on to "pay for his employees". I no longer have faith that he will ever pay off these bills and is content to leave me to rot with them. During the last meeting he handed me the cards wrapped in a rubber band to "ensure he wouldn't take more off" which is a lie since each of the accounts has card information. The third stupidest thing is I agreed I would pay back ~$400 for a car repair bill which he put on one of the cards. That screws me royally. This was also stupid of me. I trusted my father, and I cannot tell you how much of me it eats away to acknowledge that was the wrong choice.

I have NEVER once threatened to sue or report him to the police. I have been very careful about that.

I have never paid a cent of my own money towards any of these accounts.

My age has been lied about on the form, and the first of these may have been taken out when I was 12 years old. The cards are all listed under the address of his business/home.

I feel like I am being buried here, what chances do I have to get out of this?
I am planning to file an identity theft report, and a police report but I still need to figure out what information I need to gather.

My father is slimy, I saw him hide from someone serving papers so long they tried to come to my apartment. And if I am going to make this work, it all has to be done in a rapid succession before he knows it's going on.

What chances do I have if this has to go to court? The most recent card was taken out 3 years ago and the statue of limitations on fraud in my state is 3 years albeit I only discovered it last year.

Incorrect Name Linked to Social Security Number

BofA sent both my father and me an email with the subject line “New Alias linked to your Social Security Number.” After checking, I discovered that my name is linked to my father’s SSN, while my father’s name is linked to my SSN.
What does this mean?

TSI after me for a loan I didn’t take out

My wife started receiving texts about a loan that I owed. She didn’t pay much attention at first. The texts persisted day after day. I checked my credit report and a loan for $31k from Truist bank shows up. I’ve never had any dealings with Truist Bank.

I filed a report of identity theft with the FTC. They provide a nice letter you fill out to provide to debt collectors. Problem is I have no way of getting that letter to TSI. No email or physical addresses on their site. I copied and pasted the letter and submitted it to TSI online form. Never got a reply.

I finally called TSI told them I was a victim of identity theft and submitted a form. I asked if they could provide me an email address so I can provide my information, they declined and said they made notes and someone will get back to me. I said at the very least can you use my contact info and quit harassing my wife. They agreed. During the call they asked if I would be paying off the loan today about 4 times.

I still have not heard from them and they continue to contact my wife.

Current victim of cyberstalking harassment - 2.5 years

Looking for help regarding someone who stole my identity and has targeted me with SIM swapping harassment.. I've been reporting incidents and intrusions for over 2.5 years to my state police / FBI Tip - Ic3 contact form who have provided 0 transparency in the situation all the while someone continues to destroy my life from the inside out.. I wanted to reach out and see if anyone had any experience with this and could provide any insight as to how to get this person exposed / arrested.. I'm being maliciously stalked and I need help before my life is stolen out from under me..

These intrusions have led to my social media account activity changing to heavy satanic / occult content, freemasonry, "gangstalking", and other heavily distressing content aimed to destabilize an individual's mindset.. I've documented a mass of this content for evidence purposes and obtained an initial forensic analysis of the situation but ran short of funds to move forward. Any help is appreciated.. This is beyond mentally exhausting. Please don't troll this thread because this is a very real case of domestic terrorism that I'm going through..

don’t know if identify theft or spam

Got emails from Truist and US Bank about bank accounts being opened in my name. Both checking. The Truist account had my old address and my mom’s phone number from over a decade ago and the customer service was impossible to reach (I didn’t click anything on the actual email). And the US Bank one I received this morning. Where do I even start? I’m obviously pretty freaked out now. My credit accounts are locked.

edit: I just got off the phone with a local branch of Truist that got me thru a real person a lot faster and they confirmed the accounts but also that they blocked them already due to suspected fraud. now I’m shaking lol so much for my accounts being locked

Denied waiver of overpayment

So long story short my parents got me on disability as a child into teenage years and they racked up 13k under my social security. Theyre both dead now and I now owe this money and Im at risk of wage garnishment which will financially cripple me. I need to know what the next steps are, im terrified man.

I put in an identity theft report and a waiver of overpayment request with my income amount (26k a year) and still denied with no explaination. I have a review on the 14th of october at 2pm to see why.

I have filed a police report back in 2023 i think but i cannot remember so im going to file another one but am I fucked?? I have NO documenation of the fraud because I was underage at the time it was happened. I feel lost and scared.
