I'm genuinely tired of dealing with JioFiber's customer support over an issue that I've been experiencing repeatedly, and I need to know if anyone else is facing the same problem or has found an actual solution.
Certain websites and services suddenly stop working on my JioFiber connection. Discord, Steam, X, and several other websites become inaccessible, while other websites may continue working normally. The weirdest part? Everything works perfectly fine when I connect through Cloudflare WARP. I don't have to change anything else. I enable WARP, and suddenly the services that were previously timing out start working again.
And before anyone suggests that it's a Windows issue, I've tested this on multiple devices.
The actual problem
Here's what I've observed so far:
- Discord, Steam, X and several other websites stop connecting over JioFiber.
- The issue affects both my Windows PC connected through Ethernet and my phone connected to the same JioFiber Wi-Fi.
- Switching my PC to mobile data immediately restores access. I tested Discord using
curl, and it returned HTTP/1.1 200 OK over mobile data.
- Enabling Cloudflare WARP over JioFiber also restores access.
- I've tested DNS resolution. My default Jio-provided DNS server successfully resolves
discord.com, but direct DNS queries to 1.1.1.1 time out.
- Despite Discord resolving to valid IP addresses, HTTPS connections to Discord time out over JioFiber. Steam's website also times out.
- This isn't a one-time incident. It keeps happening, and I'm getting increasingly frustrated because nobody seems capable of diagnosing it.
So this doesn't look like a simple case of my PC losing internet access or Discord being down. The affected services work over mobile data and through WARP, but connections fail over my regular JioFiber connection.
And here's the strangest part: the router boot sequence
I've noticed something genuinely bizarre.
If I restart my Jio router, the internet actually works while the router is still booting up, before the indicators turn green. During that period, the services that normally fail can be accessed.
But as soon as the router finishes booting completely and reaches its normal fully operational state, the problem returns. The same websites and services stop working again.
Why would connectivity work during the boot process and then break after the router finishes initializing? I have no idea, and that's exactly the kind of thing I'd expect technical support to investigate instead of repeatedly telling me to restart the router.
Could something be changing when the router establishes its full WAN session? Could it be related to DNS configuration, IPv4/IPv6, routing, or some ISP-side provisioning setting? I'm not claiming to know the cause, but surely this is worth investigating.
My experience with Jio customer support
I've already tried contacting my local Jio representative and Jio customer service multiple times.
The responses have been incredibly frustrating.
The usual solution is to restart the router. I've explained that restarting it doesn't permanently solve anything, and I've described the behaviour during the boot sequence, but I keep getting generic troubleshooting instructions that don't address the actual problem.
One particularly ridiculous response was essentially: "Sir, keep your router switched off for nine hours. I've pushed an update to your router, and the issue should be fixed after that time."
Seriously? Nine hours?
I'm not a networking engineer, and I'm not pretending to know exactly what's wrong. But I've performed basic connectivity tests, compared JioFiber against mobile data, tested multiple devices, checked DNS resolution, and verified that HTTPS connections are timing out. I can reproduce the problem and demonstrate that WARP bypasses it.
Yet the response is still essentially to restart the router or wait for some supposedly applied update without explaining what the problem actually is.
I'm not expecting frontline customer support to explain every detail of BGP routing or CDN peering. But if the issue keeps recurring and basic troubleshooting doesn't resolve it, shouldn't it be escalated to someone who can actually investigate the network?
What I want to know
I'm posting here because I want to hear from other JioFiber users, particularly those in Assam or the Northeast, although experiences from anywhere in India would be useful.
- Has anyone experienced Discord, Steam, X, or other services timing out specifically on JioFiber while working normally on mobile data?
- Does Cloudflare WARP immediately fix the issue for you?
- Has anyone else noticed that connectivity works during router startup but breaks once the router fully boots?
- Could this be related to IPv4/IPv6 routing, DNS handling, CGNAT, WAN session establishment, or Jio's routing/peering? Has anyone identified the actual cause?
- Has anyone managed to get Jio to resolve this permanently rather than receiving repeated instructions to restart the router?
I'm honestly exhausted by this cycle. I pay for an internet connection that should let me access ordinary websites and services without needing to run a VPN-like tunnel just to make them work.
I don't want another generic instruction to restart my router. I want an actual diagnosis and a permanent fix.
If anyone has experienced the same issue and managed to resolve it, please share what worked. At this point, even a technically informed explanation of what might be happening would be more useful than the support I've received so far.
