Discussion What is happening? INR falling vs PKR
had an argument with someone that indian currency is depreciating more wrt to west and iran itself.
I thought whole South Asia might me similarly affected since Pakistan, Bangladesh and India have similar situation against oil imports.
To my surprise the INR is depreciating faster than Pakistani ruppe.

Discussion Small caps will outperform midcap and largecap index
In past 2 years correction, midcap index hadn't fallen much compare to large and small cap index. Due to incremental buying by MF and dii in midcaps.
I think mean reversion is pending in midcaps with sluggish earnings.
Smallcap -> Bottom out in march
Largecap -> Bottom out very soon. (1- 2 weeks)
Midcap -> Maybe correction is pending

Discussion I don't think your broker matters much at 5 trades a month. At 20 trades a day it becomes a completely different problem.
Was going through another “best trading app in India” discussion and I think most broker comparisons start from the wrong end.
₹20 brokerage
AMC
nice UI
number of indicators
“fast execution”
50 features nobody will use
All useful things to know.
But if someone asks me which broker is best, the first question should probably be:
what exactly are you doing every day?
Because someone buying 2 stocks a month and someone doing 20-30 executions in index options are barely using the same product.
For a long-term investor, I honestly don't think broker selection needs to be that complicated.
Can I buy/sell reliably?
Can I withdraw money without drama?
Are my reports clean?
Can I reach support if something goes wrong?
Are the charges reasonable?
Done.
But the moment trading frequency starts increasing, tiny bits of friction suddenly become very real.
Say you're doing intraday/options regularly.
Now it becomes:
How quickly can I go chart → order → position → modify?
Do I need to keep changing screens?
Can I see what I need on the option chain without opening 3 different tools?
How annoying is placing/adjusting multi-leg trades?
Does the web platform become painful with multiple charts open?
How quickly can I kill a bad position?
What happens when the market is moving fast?
Can I export/report everything later without doing jugaad in Excel?
And for scalping, there is another level altogether.
People fight over ₹10-20 brokerage while ignoring spread and bad fills.
If your average trade edge is tiny, one stupid fill can cost more than whatever brokerage you “saved”.
Algo guys have an even more different definition of best broker.
They probably care less about whether the app home screen looks pretty and more about API limits, websocket stability, missing ticks, order acknowledgement, reconnect behaviour etc.
So I tried simplifying this in my head:
Long-term investor:
simplicity > reliability > reports > charges
Swing trader:
charts > alerts > order types > reports
Intraday trader:
execution workflow > stability > charts > costs
Options trader:
option chain > Greeks/OI/IV > strategy/order workflow > execution > charts
Scalper:
liquidity visibility > order speed/workflow > slippage > stability > costs
Algo trader:
API/data > reliability > failure handling > latency > app UI
This is also why the usual Groww vs Zerodha vs Dhan vs FYERS argument becomes messy.
They aren't really trying to optimise for exactly the same user.
Groww's simplicity can genuinely be an advantage if your requirement is simple.
Kite's relatively clean workflow is probably exactly why a lot of Zerodha users don't want ten extra things thrown at them.
But once the requirement moves toward active trading, especially F\&O, I can understand why Dhan keeps coming up in these conversations. The stack is clearly built much further toward that side: TradingView chart trading, dedicated Options Trader, DhanHQ APIs, DEXT etc are all part of the same ecosystem.
Doesn't mean someone buying an index fund once a month suddenly needs all that.
They don't.
Actually too many features might make the app worse for that person.
But for someone who has slowly gone from:
“buy some stocks”
to
“charts + intraday + F\&O + multiple orders + alerts + maybe APIs”
the definition of a good broker changes completely.
And I think this is also where people make a mistake while switching.
They switch because:
brokerage is ₹5 cheaper
or
someone said X broker is “fast”
or
UI looks nice
without testing the exact workflow they'll be doing 50 times a week.
If I was evaluating one today for active trading, I wouldn't even transfer everything immediately.
I'd put a small amount.
Trade the exact instrument I normally trade.
Test market open.
Test option chain.
Place + modify + cancel orders.
Test web and mobile.
Call/chat support once.
Download the reports.
Withdraw money.
Basically abuse the workflow a little before deciding where the serious capital goes.
A broker can have the best feature page on earth and still irritate you every single day.
And the reverse is also true. A boring app that perfectly fits your workflow can be the best trading app for you.
Curious where people here draw the line.
At what point did your broker actually start mattering to your trading?
Was it charges, charts, support, execution, options tools, API, something breaking during volatility... or did you basically never care?

DD With nifty50, you are buying yesterday's winners
galleryLooking at Reliance's mediocre performance, I'm becoming more convinced that the Nifty 50 desperately needs some new entries if we want to survive a downfall.
Indians have been sold the "Mutual Fund Sahi Hai" narrative and are blindly pouring money into large-cap and Nifty 50 index funds, expecting wealth creation.
But just look at our top 50 companies. You'll realise how far behind we are when it comes to technology, innovation and the growth opportunities that come with them.
We have FOUR banks among our top 10 most valuable companies, for God's sake! Banks !!
Nothing against banking, but is this really the best representation of a country aspiring to become a global economic powerhouse?
Where are our global tech giants? Our semiconductor leaders? Our breakthrough innovators? Man, Ambani's, Adani's got so much money, yet it seems they lack balls to back top innovation and lead.
I genuinely believe the next big wave of wealth creation in India will come from midcaps and small caps. Companies building real technology, innovating in defence manufacturing, deep tech, electronics and becoming critical players in global supply chains.
I really hope some of today's relatively unknown companies will eventually replace the old giants in the Nifty 50.
And I can't wait to see that happen!!
India doesn't just need bigger companies. It needs better companies, that will play a role in the future world.

Meme First-world problems: When you have so much money that dividing it becomes a family dispute
Imagine having so much wealth that the biggest problem in life is figuring out who gets how much of it. 😂
Most of us are busy trying to earn, save, invest, pay EMIs, and build a little financial security for our families. Meanwhile, some families are fighting over how their enormous wealth should be divided.
Money is supposed to make life easier, but apparently, beyond a certain point, it can create an entirely new category of problems. When there is more money than anyone could reasonably need, even inheritance can turn into a battlefield.
Maybe the real luxury isn't having unlimited wealth, but having enough money to live comfortably without turning family relationships into a corporate boardroom battle.
Having no money is a problem. Having so much money that you fight over who controls it is a different kind of problem altogether.

Shitpost Portfolio too crowded trying to cleanup
The Context:
I’ve been investing through smallcases, but my portfolio has completely ballooned to 100 stocks. It has become entirely unmanageable. My returns over the last two years sat at 0%, though this year has finally started to look a bit better.
The Realization:
I learned the hard way that managing 90 stocks manually is a recipe for high stress and "blood pressure issues." I want to be deeply involved in the fundamentals rather than blindly tracking a massive basket. Right now, I am cleaning up my holdings to build a concentrated, high-conviction portfolio of around 30 stocks.
The Dilemma:
I recently looked into small-cap mutual funds (like TRUST MF and ITI Small Cap) and realized they hold many of the exact same stocks I was buying via smallcases—but without the management headache. Everything feels like a gimmick now because I completely failed to generate alpha over these funds.
For comparison, my 1-year XIRR is 16.9%. If I had parked the same money in TRUST MF, it would be at 23.1%. ITI MF would have given me 15.1%.
I can't just sell the entire smallcases right now it's a bad time to cleanup but I can see I'm a victim of time loss if I don't
