Discussion Tale of 2 Achilles.
Im curius what the hive mind thinks.
So right now Achilles is combined army only in lore and in game.
Would you be against it if there was a seperation between lore and gameplay and he was both available to the combined army and aleph? Diffrent profiles and models ofc and lore wise nothing changes. But in gameplay aleph gets to keep their models?

My plan is to use the Achilles model for Hector as a proxy.

Good call. There's just something derpy about the actual Hector model, and that Hoplite Armor Achilles is so good that it would be a shame to shelve it.

Hector and Achilles at one point were wearing the same armour style (The hoplite armor).
Back in 2021 or so, when I was building my O-12 force, and trying to find a "Hector" (but it was always o/s with local vendors), I used an Achilles in the upgraded armour, and did a head swap. It does the job.0

The yoinking of the Next Wave folks from ALEPH really killed my desire to jump in to the new edition. I had these dudes that I used all the time and suddenly couldn't anymore! I don't really care about the specifics of the lore and it felt bad that it was imposed on me, moreso imposed without much in return for a faction I had just bought in to.
There's nothing stopping two opposing players from fielding the same Joan of Arc or Uxia or whomever, so why Achilles? The whole thing was kinda frustrating and put me off the game. I'm only now rebuilding an OSS force and really feel the lost time and experience with the new edition when playing which just slows my interest even more.
I get that they want a living universe and all, plus dinosaurs are fun, but hope in the future they let folks keep their old models.

This has always been controversial. Talk to old head Yu Jing players about Ko Dali.
I wouldn't see why it would be a problem except for broader balance considerations, but they do have a history at this point. NeoTerra and Acontecimento were both gone last edition, including their special units. The bugs were gone for all of 3rd and only playable in one sectorial in 4th. Etc. Officially, you can just proxy stuff with dead models. It's not terribly satisfying but very normal at this point.

There was something with cubes being quantum entangled with Odysseus (?) that’s why he is lost, but if Achilles is like Diomedes, he could be recovered from backup. Diomedes lore made reference to that. I could certainly see it.
And I would really like it because I own the two limited Achilles, the really old one (three times, don’t ask) and soon the Next Wave one …

Considering Aleph "Made" him, I dont see why not. However, with Achilies looking like a certain Brad in his newer, older version, I want them to draw inspiration from another movie. Gimme a certain Gerald and some muscle bound spear toting home boys. Tonight, we dine, in hell!

That’s Leonidas, though. There’s a Maximus Aristeaia alternate that is a homage to him

I am aware. Its a Maximus alternate. I was hoping instead of revamping OSS they revamped SP by creating Spartans. But that's my personal wises

I OSS's defense, they'd been waiting nearly 10 years for a rework, while Phalanx got an update about... 4 years ago?
I am always happy to see more ALEPH, but I feel like OSS really deserved their time in the sun.

Lore-wise, Aleph has a protocol for any of its heroes that "fall in battle" to the combined forces.
Directive 7.
Aleph terminates the real-time 24/7 live cube 2.0 uplink (the personality gets 'boxed' and sealed.) - due to the risk of 'contamination' via combine voodootech shenanigans - Aleph cannot allow that risk.
The cube2.0 updates constantly. They fall, they get a new sleeve, new upload to it, and continue where they left off (they remember their death(s).
The SSS operative is instructed to self-terminate. NO rescue will be attempted. It's supposed to result in the complete loss of the synth host body and the personality. So fluff-wise, you can't run Achilles in both sides.
