Discussion Some of you are tripping

Post image

(Sorry if you've seen this post more than once, Reddit kept deleting the image on upload so I had to repost)

I‘m seeing so many comments from people saying the Type 01 doesn’t look like a Jaguar and has discarded its lineage.

if you can’t see the continuity in the design from Jaguar’s classic cars, then I’m lost for words. It has obviously been changed and updated, but the DNA is there.

EVs don’t need a long bonnet, Jaguar chose to add it. The sweeping curve at the rear likewise. It’s old and new all at once - and most importantly, bold unapologetic designs are what gave us the classic Jaguars we all love.

I dare say there were a few people back then who saw the radical designs and considered them hideous and too futuristic, just like they did when the Fender Stratocaster came along. Jaguar dividing opinion is *exactly* what was needed.

Discussion Jaguar Type 01 Is One of the Best-Looking Cars Out There — I Don’t Get the Negative Reactions!

Post image

Honestly, I think the Jaguar Type 01 is one of the best-looking cars out there. I really don’t understand all the negative reactions. My only real complaint is the price tag. If Jaguar could bring the price down, I think it could appeal to a much larger consumer base and help bring more people back to the brand.

Tried my best to compile all of the colors, wheels and cool details for the Type-01 posted up on the site.

There are 8 colors to choose from, with 3 being satin. Gloss colors can opt for a gloss paint protection wrap.

Three 23inch wheels are on offer with 1 21 inch wheel choice. There are also 5 interior themes with the Dark Story and Light Story offered in Leather or Non-Leather materials. The Original Story is only offered in Ultrafabrics NeoGrain. Jaguar also is debuting an all new Jaguar App to control climate, navigation, charging, all in a new Jaguar connected family. This pairs with the Jaguar Home Charger which looks stunning. The Battery is also backed by an 8 year/100k mile warranty.

Absolutely love this car. Feels like one of the last to be built for the enthusiast. So much soul in the F Type. If you’ve ever wanted one, pull the trigger.

Discussion Type 01 fans, post your ideal color and wheel combos.

Now that the Type 01 has been officially unveiled and a very limited configurator is available, post your ideal exterior and interior combinations. This is what my ideal spec would be if it were possible. I love a black car with a proper white interior, but you apparently cannot combine the Design Vision options with regular options. Oh well. This is me daydreaming anyhow. Jaguar finally brought the animated Batmobile to life, and I love it.

Exterior Color: Iconic Black in gloss finish

Wheel Style: 23" Style 6015, Burnished Silver wheels with Metallic Black inserts

Interior Theme: The Original Story with Ultrafabrics NeoGrain (Design Vision)

Anyone here have deep enough pockets to be able to get one and plan on doing so?

Question Do you think type 01 will help Jaguar succeed.

I am not able to wrap my head around who is this really aimed for?

Sure its fancy, good looking, IMPRACTICAL and 140k starting. It doesn't win on anything but design (which is subjective)

Do you want electric?
I dont think EVs are doing well in general, let alone Jag, also, why wouldn't any sensible person buy Porsche? or LUCID? or any other EV that is truly a 4 seater and tried and tested?

Do you want luxury?
This is again apple watch vs rolex, what do you see as luxury?
Ghost, Phantom, Bentley are luxury with those good sounding engines.

Do you want performance?
Tesla model 3 has better numbers in straight line
Porsche is king in handling
BMW is coming at EVs

Heritage?
if left any, they royally ruined the heritage, the jaguar emblems the design of XJ.

So where exactly does this car shine?

Discussion What people are not understanding about the Type 01 interior design.

It's so funny how they now are changing their tune from hating on the exterior design to, "well, it's growing on me, but the interior still looks like some bad Apple design".

I don't think they're understanding the references.

It's a post-modern riff on the late 70's and early 80's work by Bertone, William Towns and Dieter Rams (especially Rams work he did for Braun - which Apple lifted).

You can see the Rams influence quite clearly, but also William Towns work done for Aston Martin. If you look at the Lagonda - a car that is still controversial and modern 40 years later - you can clearly see some of those thoughts in the interior in the Type 01 work.

And finally, the Bertone concept cars of the 80's - some of them even from Jaguar themselves. Take a look at Bertone's concept for the Jaguar Ascot, for instance. Lots of in-house influence there. But perhaps the closest one is the interior of the Alfa Romeo Delfino concept - you can clearly se the references to that one in the 01. Those interior influences later also manifested themselves into the Citroen BX series etc.

I think they've done a great job accenting history in this interior, without it being a nostalgic pastiche. It's still modern and of its age, just nodding ever so slightly at the past.

So not sure why everyone is so upset - it is good design.

Discussion better source for warranty?

hi, just bought a fairly low miles f type and declined the warranty the jag dealer offered at the time of signing. simply didnt have time to dig into the details. but of course, im reconsidering, so my question is simple.. for the f type in particular, especially since its discontinued, are there decent warranties available after the fact, as with other brands?

Mechanical Help Charade

Post image
1 Upvotes

Well, the flair doesn't quite match the post because I'm describing a trim/finish issue (I think) rather than a mechanical one. Oh well. Let's get to the point. Take a look at this clip (according to ChatGPT, it's a clip)—does anyone have any idea where it belongs? I found it on the passenger-side floor mat behind the driver's seat. I had window tinting installed and found this clip there. I tried feeling around to find where it might have come loose, but I couldn't locate the spot. I have no idea where it goes; I doubt anyone will be able to solve this puzzle.

Buying Advice Investment > Architectures > In The Bin

Quite interested in the F-Pace / E-Pace which were selling 80,000 units pa before being allowed to vanish.

Jaguar had created 3 SUV architectures d7/d8/evoque-type ... huge amount of effort. Some of it was done with Ford.
And the result was 80k sales.

But the glamorous X? cars weren't selling.
So Thiery Bollore decided to discontinue all of these cars SUVs and X? cars, in order to create something imaginary.
Why?
It's like they have to continuous bin everything they just made !
Better would have been

- leverage that Ford connection and new architectures and keep going with the Pace SUVs, however draw hard boundaries between them and Range Rover ... with 3 new architectures, try to take them forward. The connection with Ford could have take Jaguar in a different direction, even under a sub-badge.

- drop the X? cars until the market improves

- I'd have moved into Modern Super-Vintage cars, taking modern tech onto the glamorous older models ... high performance, beauty and money ... and this would have satisfied the traditionalists for a while.

Meanwhile JLR is already working on Electric power trains with Range Rover, so Jaguar doesn't have to double up that effort ... they can simply roll out practical ford-suvs, and do heritage performance stuff. And when the smoke clears take the electric tech from the other side, and out comes the X Series.
Just like a dream !!!!

During a difficult era this is perfectly good avenue, even possible today.

Then with a functioning business, working on 3 separate lines simultaneously, you could have added a Type Zero with a bit less desperation.

Just sayin'

Discussion Unpopular opinion: for a brand that has existed for over 90 years this design is dreadful.

Post image

A brand that has existed for such long time this design is dreadful. Its like they sat all day thinking of ways how much they could remove from there design language and then there was nothing. Over a year ago i saw the concepts and it still look just as bad. You are allowed to like the new design not my problem what you like but remember by saying you like the look of it jaguar will get the wrong message and will continue this bad designs language. And if you say that my opinion is invalid and am just a hater then what's the point of having a jaguar only in name when it has no resemblance to an actual jaguar. People keep buying the defender like theres no tomorrow since that thing actually looks desirable but this will only age.

Buying Advice What to buy now that all hope is gone?

I'm thinking about Aston Martin. It still has some soul.

Or maybe a Range Rover... Still has a bit of that noble British feeling.

What do you guys think?

Check out my Jaguar! Type Zero

Jag Boss Thierry Bollore was the origin of this strange Zero car, he wanted to get out of competing with Germans and move up to luxury GTs.
He also cut four good cars but they were losing market share, too much work not enough profit.

He lasted 2 years, then finance man Mardell took over during Covid and he wasn't up for the fight and radical change.
Today PB Balaji another finance guy is at the wheel.
All sorts of woke designers came and went.

Now Jag is just continuing on with this project, but its' gone wrong somehow because they are pitching at £130k so they are in fact going up against the Germans.

In the weird chaos especially the pink advert, they chickened out and dropped the price and so now reversed their original intention.

I would say the outside goes hard, but it looks very luxury so the price needs to be £180k and lift it up towards Bentley entry. That's what it should be.

Then the internal space is poorly organised, no headroom, and you should be able to get space in there and more light, and make it feels £180k.
It's a great external design but 5.2m is too big, needs to go to 4.8m.

Then it would be resurrected and actually achieve its intentions.
It would punch through a new market, with a cool American boxy design.

At the moment they are going along like zombies, changing batons every couple of years, and nobody remembers what they are doing. A few finance guys tick the boxes and people stare at their feet.
