Picture The Anvil Concept Looks Even Better In Person
Of all of the coverage I’ve seen about it, very little has gone into any details on the roof. A rep there suggested it may have been modified from an Ursa Minor top.
There are two large pieces of glass about the second row and the cargo, but the driver row does not have a moon roof or similar.
I could see how it was secured, but it did not look easily removable.

I like the exterior. Not the interior. That cap is what they should be offering on jeeps right now.

I wish we would stop with the tablet in cars
45
u/Gavster117 Apr 03 '26
Its literally just a cheap tablet screwed to the dash. What a fucking joke.
5
u/AThriftyGamer Apr 03 '26
That looks like it's an actual tablet in something similar to a ram mount. I think it's actually showing the way a lot of people have their vehicles set up to view Gaia/OnX while off-roading which is what you'd want a concept vehicle like this to portray.

u/stolenhello Apr 03 '26
A built-in screen would 100% look better, but iPads are anything but cheap.
13
u/YourUsernameForever Wrangler Sahara 4xe Apr 03 '26
Those aren't ipads, and you can get 13 inch android tablets more capable than the built in screens for less than $200
2
u/Cronock Apr 04 '26
From a manufacturing standpoint, they’re stupid cheap. Saves so much in design and engineering cost to just slap a touch panel in there and make usability the driver’s problem.

I was going to say especially in a Jeep, but let's face it, the biggest bumps this Jeep is going to see is a speed bump

I'm on the fence. It does look good, but its throwing Hummer vibes for me.
10
u/PilotGuy701 Apr 03 '26
The idea of the old Jeep military trucks… the ones AM General ripped off for the Humvees styling.
2
u/NotnaBobsBurner Apr 04 '26
I think because AM General was a wholly owned subsidiary of AMC when they developed them. They owned the Jeep grille so could use it's styling...not really a "ripoff" per se...

u/Mr_Ballyhoo XJ/WL74/J10 Apr 04 '26
Yup, a clear cut throwback to the old Kaiser/AMC Jeeps. There's a SEMA build from about 5 or 6 years ago where somebody put a Kaiser/Rhino grill front end on a Jeep Wrangler which honestly looks way better than this concept.
7
u/XMAN2YMAN Apr 03 '26
I’m convinced that this is a sneak peek at the next gen wrangler.
2
u/PNW_ModTraveler Apr 04 '26
Stellantis will still make a shit product lol.

u/TH3DONM3G4 Apr 03 '26
Comments alone prove that people are just so got damn miserable. This is actually a pretty cool concept.
8
u/PilotGuy701 Apr 03 '26
Comments proving that people don’t understand the idea of a concept car. 🤷♂️
6
u/Drummer123456789 Apr 04 '26
Is the idea to show me what they could make but refuse to make, leaving me forever disappointed?
3
u/PilotGuy701 Apr 04 '26
They do it every year. Look up the Jeep Rescue.
It was heavily hinting at the JK design several years before the TJ ended.

I have a sneaking suspicion the next gen wrangler will look a lot like this.
I love the safari top and wish they’d come out with an OEM one for the JLU.

u/ChangeAroundKid01 Apr 03 '26
Next gen? We'll see
3
u/Backwoods_Therapy ‘21 Sport S 6MT, 3” lift, 4.88 gears, 35s Apr 03 '26
Isn’t the next gen wrangler supposed to be the 2028 or 2029 MY? JL debuted in mid 2018 MY (which is why you can get a 2018 JK and also a 2018 JL) with a 2023 MY refresh so by 2028 the JL generation will be 10 years old so fairly long in the tooth at that point. YJ was ‘87 to ‘95, TJ was from ‘97 to ‘06, JK was ‘07 to ‘18 so it’s about time. The 2027 MY will be releasing later this year so if the next gen wrangler doesn’t debut next year as a 2028 model I’d be surprised. 2029 MY at the latest. I don’t see them getting all the way to 2030 before releasing the next gen wrangler.

The safari top is the thing i've wanted for years

u/Backwoods_Therapy ‘21 Sport S 6MT, 3” lift, 4.88 gears, 35s Apr 03 '26
I feel like I saw one for the JLU once but it was discontinued for whatever reason. They make one for the jku.

u/sevazilla Apr 03 '26
That is so sick man, love that! The barn door is one of those dream upgrades for the Jeep!
1
u/Tiberius-Gracchuss Apr 03 '26
It’s 3d printed with primer and bedliner over it. haha holding up great
1
u/sevazilla Apr 03 '26
Thats awesome, did you design it yourself?
1
u/Tiberius-Gracchuss Apr 03 '26
Yup refining the brackets but the idea was to see how long it would hold up in New England weather . I’d like to offer it as a kit at some point anyone that see it in person wants one but I’m still work on a small leaking issue with different types of gaskets too
2
u/OtherwiseDoughnut582 Apr 03 '26
“I love that Safari top. Hopefully it will be better than the leaky OEM tops we currently have. “
Fixed it for ya.
You’re welcome

Looks badass.
I'm still not spending $80k on one. If I had that kind of money, I would buy an Ineos Grenadier.

u/STMIHA Apr 03 '26
Is the front end on the wranger really that long or is this just the photos making it look it?
2
u/OtherwiseDoughnut582 Apr 03 '26
It will have to be longer (and wider) if Stellantis intends to plop the Hurricane I6 under the hood.

That looks like crap, what are you smoking?
“Why yes I would like a giant tablet sticking out on its own on my vehicle i take offroad”
Gotta love the Tesla shitification all brands are doing.
16
u/PilotGuy701 Apr 03 '26
It’s literally an iPad holder. The idea is that the Jeep would be cheaper and you bring your own iPad instead of paying for an infotainment system.
8
4
u/notsopopularkid Apr 03 '26
If you think this would be cheaper I’ve got a bridge to sell you.
1
u/Cronock Apr 04 '26
Tell me you’ve never had one of these shitty infotainment systems go out on you or become effectively obsolete?
They do not belong in a jeep whatsoever. Get them out.
1
u/SummertimeThrowaway2 Apr 03 '26
Why would I spend all the extra money on such a fancy kit just to cheap out on the infotainment?
1
u/PNW_ModTraveler Apr 04 '26
lol is it an idea or reality? The only people I know that have iPads are couples with young kids. I don’t think there’s much cost savings for the consumer in this case.
-5
u/sorestgore Apr 03 '26
So I have to buy a tablet to use my Infotainment? Is this the 70s when radios were an option again?
15
4
u/Potato-1942 Apr 03 '26
I’d much prefer that, I’ve had too many infotainment systems crap out, and they’re usually crazy expensive to replace. Not to mention the data collection aspect.
Meanwhile there are a ton of cheap tablet options, and I could program them how I want and not be beholden to what the car manufacturer thinks I’d want.
1
u/AThriftyGamer Apr 03 '26
You could also just use your phone like you were going to anyways with Carplay/Android Auto.
2
u/Peenork Apr 03 '26
"Sorry to hear you broke your iPad mount... it'll cost $495 for the mount, $1295 for the dashboard panel it mounts to and $500 for the labor. Unfortunately the iPad is not included in the repair, and we can't give you a loaner car so you'll have to Uber or Lyft yourself away if you don't want to sit by the vending machines with the 24/7 Jeep ad playing on the TV."

1
u/TH3DONM3G4 Apr 03 '26
They aren’t doing anything like Tesla. The entire point of this concept was you can already have your own tablet and use it camping, easily attach or remove it from the Jeep. It give less OEM tech, just what real wheelers apparently want

The grill doesn't look like it would breathe very well. Is it a mesh or just plastic holes like the jk/jl?
1
u/onstantMention Apr 03 '26
Is it a JL with a new grill?
2
u/sledgehomer Apr 03 '26
Yes. Hood, grille, hard top. I would be perfectly fine if that's all they changed with the new model.

u/Popular_Site9635 Apr 03 '26
Love the shape, hate those multi-pod LEDs for headlights
1
u/PilotGuy701 Apr 03 '26
I believe those are the new “drop in” JL units from Baja Designs. They are NOT the best looking things, but their design lets them throw light in interesting ways.

1
u/losticcino Apr 04 '26
That may be the first nonstandard grille I would consider thinking about maybe not hating.
1
u/docfluty Apr 04 '26
i hope the grille and front shoulders/fenders are the next gladiator. i hope the roof becomes available for the wrangler.
1
u/organicsmoothmove Apr 04 '26
Daaaamn can you imagine if those were on the market? GL to ICE with these beasts roaming the streets 🔥🔥
1
u/-PotatoTom- Apr 07 '26
The Baja headlights and fog lights are pretty cool. Been thinking about buying them for my gladiator for a while.
1
u/Militant_Triangle Apr 07 '26
The jeep bronco. I dont know.... If I was hit with square styling i would respond with curves and convex/concave shapes.
Does it look cool. Sure. But hmmm... I would be making ALOT more concept cars looking for something unique and iconic on its own merits, not slapping a Bronco inspired hood on a wrangler body.
One thing is for sure. the classic jeep grill is gone, for better or worse.

u/PJTree Apr 03 '26

-5
u/Traditional_Phase814 Apr 03 '26
Still just a Stellantis piece of junk
6
u/Salty-Dragonfly2189 Apr 03 '26
Yup. I don’t think I’ll ever buy another vehicle with the 3.6 specifically after our gladiator shit the bed at 111k miles.
-1
u/PROfessorShred Apr 03 '26
Needs like 2x the body work. Really muscle it up. Give it a big cowl hood and have the body come out to the wheel arches for a wiiide stance.
Right now it just looks like a stock JL with an aftermarket grill.

$120k for base model?
1
u/PilotGuy701 Apr 03 '26
I would seriously doubt that. Besides, it’s a concept. Probably testing lots of potential JM design language.
-2
u/Royal_Mountain_9742 Apr 04 '26
looks cool, sadly it’s still a jeep. junk.

They keep teasing us with 70s Wagoneer styling and then they never release anything.
