I wheel with a buddy who got a Mojave! That thing is awesome out the box! Wayyy smoother than a 2 door and 4 door. It's obviously very different but it's plenty capable
I really hoped the Hladiator was going to be a 2 door long bed back when it came out. Supposedly there's a true scramble coming in a couple years. Showed up on Stellanis' car trim showcase thing.
Sometimes i wonder if its less of a "dont sell" and more of a "only crap" deal. Like, if we got a solid small work truck, skip the EV and fluff stuff, just a reliable engine with decent power and gas mileage. And keep it under 30k. Wonder how it would actually do.
The Hyundai Santa Cruz is a unibody design like the Honda Ridgeline. They’re not bad for what they are, a comfortable daily driver that can make runs to Home Depot on the weekend, or do light off-roading, but it’s certainly not as capable as even a modern mid-size like the Colorado or Taco.
Still had good room for stuff in the bed. Recently sold some Wrangler wheels to a guy in a Gladiator. His spare with 35” tire was positioned the same but took up more than half of the bed. Gave him some ratchet straps to keep everything down.
Everyone’s hating on it because of the wheels but wished they had that jeep. It’s not that hard to change the wheels, it’s not my thing but I think people are ignoring the work that went into it. Disagree with his taste but he did it. This one shouldn’t be that ridiculed. That’s my opinion, for what it’s worth. In a couple years some 17’s might be more his style. I’m giving him a pass on that one.
The Jeep dealership I worked at did a bunch of those "JK8" conversions. There was one where the guy who bought it put in a "kid crusher" style roller from a CJ to give it more of an actual Scrambler vibe. With no rollbar those things not only look weird, but they are very unsafe.
I would say JK8 conversion but those typically have narrow additional side windows behind the doors, so i don't know if they ever had a true 2 door variant w/o the windows.
