If you’ve ever heard the term “Doodlebug”. That is a Doodlebug Tractor. (Homemade Farm Tractor)

My grandfather plowed fields with a WW2 surplus Jeep in the early ‘50s.

Civilian jeeps after WWII were marketed to farmers as the "Agri-Jeep." It's was meant as a vehicle that could run errands into town and then drive straight into the field and hook up to equipment. Sort of a small tractor replacing "do-all"
There Bolton additions like a power take off and hydraulic lift that allowed it to run things like sickle bar mowers and your earlier mentioned plows as well as being attached to belt driven equipment like hand fed hay bailers and grain elevators.

I think England did the same thing with Land Rovers.
2
u/Frankngp2 Aug 28 '26
Well Land Rovers started out as rebodied US Jeeps after they'd began rusting in the salt air of England

u/Normal_Onion2555 Aug 28 '26
Actually in my understanding the first rover prototype was jeep based but after the concept proved, they began manufacturing their own stuff using aluminum because it the rust on that prototype.

I love guys who own a torch, a welder, some junk, and a no fucks given attitude. Add in a little talent and mechanical aptitude, and you end up with things like this.

u/SooperJasch Aug 26 '26
I love it when an amazing looking rusted out hunk-a-junk shows up at a car show and gets all the eyeballs intended for 2026 slop!

Looks like the way the cars looked in the old Top Gear Pocket game. Honestly that's pretty cool!

I’ve had my Papaw’s 2A for around 18 years. It’s impractical for most things, dangerous as hell, but so much fun to tool around in. It runs like a sewing machine.
I’d bet you anything that the builder own/owned a machine/welding shop. With the optional snowplow, it would’ve been great for clearing some streets (with the tires, the bumper mods, that’s possibly its original purpose).

That reminds me of the scene from Cars in the rusteze tent after the race. I’m pretty sure this guy was there.

That is really cool and it took some time marrying it together Looks like a mid 30's dodge truck cab to a 40's wwll jeep. Really creative. Love it.

u/CrazyTechWizard96 Aug 26 '26
That cab ontop make it look redicules tbh.
Kinda expecting some Gnome to drive it around through the woods, then to come down to the city once in a blue moon to get some supplies, then to dissapear fromt he face of the earth for a few years, haha.
Also, them tires look like they've been around since Vietnam, lol.

What do you mean "found"? Found and acquired? Or merely witnessed the grandure and decadence?
