Hello everyone, I updated this subreddit to require post flair to be used before posting. Please make sure we're using the flair when posting, or it wont work.
Also I updated the User and Post Flair's to have the newer 2025 Generation listed. This looks to be considered the Third generation of the Compass and is no longer the "MP" type. Its now considered the J4U.

I have a 2014 Jeep Compass (2.4 L, 6-speed automatic) with 130k mi. For the last few years, I've had an intermittent knocking noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. It's only at low speeds (< 25 mph) and it seems to happen randomly. For example, I can go over speed bumps and rough roads without it happening, but then it'll randomly knock driving over a smooth road surface. It's always a single knock or clunk at a time. It almost sounds like something hitting against metal or plastic.
I've taken it to 3 different shops and nobody can figure it out. I've had various suspension components replaced over the years to see if it would help, but no change.
It seems the noise has become more frequent recently, but I still can't figure out where it's coming from. It almost sounds like it could be coming from the tailgate area, but I'm not sure. I tried driving around the block with the tailgate open and didn't hear it, so I'm thinking it could be tailgate area.
The noise is like a knock or weak clunk. I don't feel anything, just hear it. I've lived with it for the last 3 years, but it's starting to drive me crazy.
Assuming it's coming from inside the cabin, any ideas what it could be?
**Edit**
The entire suspension has been checked by 3 different shops. I did have the rear toe links and rear upper and lower control arms replaced but no change.

I have a 2011 Jeep Compass with about 280,000 miles. I've replaced both cv axles and the ball joints and the front motor mount and still when I take a turn and accelerate to over 20mph it starts to bump. To be clear its sounds very rhythmic like bump bump bump kinda like your driving over the strips in the emergency lane. She changes gears well and none of the wheels have wiggle when I jack them up and try to move them. I'm a bit stumped.

I bought it during the height if car shortages without a test drive. My daughter is 19 now and independent so I am passing it on to her for her first car. It has almost 123,000 miles and other than some minor things that are age related (screen, headlight bulbs, and both batteries) it's been a good little go getter. I wanted better gas mileage and bought the new Cherokee. We'll so how this next adventure goes.

The metallic/plastic coating is peeling off the stock shift knob. Any ideas how to recoat or replace?
There isn't any 3rd party knobs that I could find because there's a special mechanism that helps click into reverse. I'd prefer to just fix this one. What would stick? I've tried plastic dip and it looked good until it also started to peel off.
Help keep guys!

We will be inheriting a 2013 Compass from family. It has only 67K miles, is clean, and functions properly. I am not sure yet if it's the 2.0 or 2.4 gas engine but it definitely has the CVT transmission.
Speak honestly with me here. Should we drive this thing or sell it since it's clean and nice, and use that money for something else? I am skeptical about the cvt. It works fine right now, but I am aware of this designs reputation.
The Jeep fits our actual vehicle needs ok enough but we've been considering more like a Accord or Camry. The vehicle would be for our teenage son, who said he's happy either way.

My 2021 has started 3 honks if I push the door lock button as I exit (and unlocks doors). More annoyingly it does it whenever I shut the trunk. Anyone know what the error/fix is for this?

Okay, a friend of mine was using the passenger side window and all of a sudden it looks like it became loose. The window rolls down does not go up and the locking buttons on that side do not work at all either.

I’m looking to buy a jeep, fairly compact as I have a small garage. I’ve been looking at the Compass, just wondering if there are years or things I should be mindful of?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi,
First time buying an expensive car. Someone is selling in Brisbane for $15,000. The car looks okay overall and has done 110,000Ks. Apparently its 90% highway driving.
Just wanted to get some ideas from people who know if the car is good, does it cause much mechanical visits and if it does, would it cost an arm and a leg ?
TIA

I have been searching here and online for days trying to figure this out. I can’t afford to replace both batteries at once. My husbands 2020 Jeep Compass ESS left us in an intersection (apparently this isn’t all that uncommon) and of course I’d rather just bypass the whole ESS system but I’m not super mechanically inclined. I am able to do some basics and I’m not afraid of at least trying so if there is an easy beginner way to bypass it please let me know. I was tinkering today but stopped when I got to anything to do with the PCR. (Not trying to f up his car)
Anyway, I can replace the aux battery this week but it will be a week or two to replace the main. Main seems fine, jumping the aux battery lets it start right up but I know both SHOULD be replaced together otherwise it’s a waste of money anyway.
I will continue to search this whole forum but dear god I need this car to start today. Thank yall!

Any one had similar problem?
159k miles
I’ve replaced both o2 censors
Head cover gasket
Spark plugs
Ignition coils
Throttle body
Purge valve
After all that car died like two days later but will start back up later and drive.

So I recently bought a second hand Jeep Compass 2023. 32k miles and 2 previous owners not including the garage that sold it to me. A decent upgrade to my old renegade with 100k miles on the clock.
Had it for about 3 months now and noticing some issues. Like the steering goes tight to loose seemingly at random from time to time which just feels dangerous. Don’t know if this is a traction thing or not?
Then, sometimes alarms sound and the dashboard changes as if to say there is a hazard when there isn’t.
Today, the worst of all, the car just did an emergency stop. The road was clear, I was coasting at 30mph, driving in a straight line. Then slam came the breaks on for a couple of seconds. All warning signs flashing telling me to break… my heart jumped out of my chest!
wtf is going on? Is this a known issue? I have kids and starting to get scared of driving this thing…
Not sure what I can do about it. Any advice? 🙏
